      Could you tell me why the rackets are so outrageously expensive compared to squash and tennis rackets? I want to start playing but my jaw dropped when I saw prices.

    • @georginiuss
      @georginiuss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@TheLunarnotes I guess since padel is growing all over the world so amazingly fast, padel brands are in their moment, so they have no reason not to rise their prices. Back in the 90´s padel gear was relatively inexpensive compare to tennis for example. That being said there are second brands, that have reasonable prices and they offer good quality: Royal padel, Sidespin, Kombat, Kelme, Kappa, Dufour, Sane, Sola. etc. All of this brands have nice products for amateur and even competitive players. But if you look for top brands like Bullpadel, Nox, Adidas, Head, Wilson, and specially their top of the line models, prices are up to 5 times other raquets (palas o paletas are how they call it in spanish) And believe me in this you can it even tell the difference between a 120 bucks racket from a 300 one until you reach quite a high level. Go for a medium model in a second brand and you will enjoy a lot. Spend your money on padel lessons, and you will be fine. Then may be, you need something that match your needs. But you can not know what you need unless you play well and play a lot. Greetings from Argentina, I hope you find this useful.

    Scoring system is the same used while playing tennis (game-set-match), but in recent years the deuce has been changed to the Gold Point. This new norm is used when the game is 40-40, it's called the Gold Point bc the team that wins the next point wins the game, the team that recieves the serve choses the player that is going to recieve it skipping what would be the natural serving order.

      There is a theory that tennis scoring was originally counted using the hands of a clock, hence, 15mins, 30mins, 45mins (which was shortened to 40). Hope that helps

      Clearly, you have never played padel nor watched professional players. Padel is much more about tactics and playing at the right speed. Many tennis players that start with padel make A LOT of mistakes by hitting way too hard or with too much slice on the forehand, meaning their balls: 1. Go straight to the wall and lose the point easily 2. Go too hard and give an easy rebound for the opponents to counterattack. I don't think it's easy for tennis players to get used to this.

    I haven’t played, but looked this up because I’m considering it. I am a solid tennis player… But my friends tend to kind of suck. So instead of good rallies, it winds up being me mostly just fetching the ball the smacked somewhere stupid. So padel might solve that problem since it’s walled in. Now they can suck all they want!

    It has just been approved to build Padel courts near me. I am a little unsure. it says if the ball hits the net or the wall the pair that hit the ball loses a point (in tennis the opponent wins a point) it then never mentions it in the scoring part it just explained tennis scoring.
    is it like tennis and they used a poor choice of words?
    if they lose point then at deuce if a team hits it into the net they would lose because 40-40 goes 40-30 which is a game win condition?

      I think tennis and padel tennis should have same scoring system as badminton. 21 individual points to win a set and best of 3 sets. Find tennis annoying where you could win a set in 4 points. Doesn't give yourself enough time to get back into the game.

      @@mikecondon93 u need 4 to win a game but 6 games to win a set in tennis. So 24 points
