Dear Hayden, 1) I am S. S. Raja 47years old from India.... 2) I have been playing tennis for one year and struggled a lot with many mistakes.... 3) Your videos corrected me from jamming, made me free from wrist pain, fluid forhand and all thanks alot dear gentleman.... 4)Eventually i am ok... But I have to learn and focus on forhand power and Back hand. 5) now I am learning the volleys and service and return of the service.... Anyways thanks a ton dear
I'd rather he starts from #1 mistake as well, like you listed. However, since you're listing "MISTAKES", your #3 should be "Not from ground up", and #4 "No fluid drop", and #5 "No 90 degree arm bend".
You’ve produced the best forehand tips, in a condensed video, that I’ve yet seen. And I actually appreciate the hand gestures, as they help accentuate the points you’re making - so please disregard any negativity. Appreciate this video SO MUCH! Thanks bro!
I especially liked learning about the "ATP racquet flip," the "Federer/Nadal technique," and the "Alcaraz" technique. Genius! Can't wait to buy his forehand improvement system!!!!
I guess you did not enjoy this video since you chose to focus on grammar. The punctuation in your post is non-existent. And, your statement is incorrect. from Grammarly - There is nothing wrong with starting sentences with “and,” “but,” or other similar conjunctions. You may, however, encounter people who mistakenly believe that starting a sentence with a conjunction is an error, so consider your audience when deciding to structure your sentences this way.
Wow! Your video likely fixed my major forehand issue! I used to do unit turn pretty fine up to the 90 degree elbow, but then I would be out of focus and started feeling awkward from there. The end result was 1) my arm was never stretched enough and I swung mostly using my forearm; 2) my flow-through always felt like an after thought instead of natural; 3) besides lacking power, I could not hit natural topspin and had to consciously swipe my forearm which worsened my “arm not stretching” problem. After watching your video, I realized that a conscious “extending arm” thing must be there after my unit turn and before my swing. So instead of losing focus and thinking about aiming the ball or swiping for topspin, I now focus on the “extending arm (after proper unit turn with 90 degree elbow)” and enjoy the whipping feeling brought by subsequent swing. Immediately my forehand swing became natural with better swing path, more power and topspin. And because I can now hit balls further away from my body (arm extended), I feel less in hurry and can position my body even better! (Yes, it’s all about “No. 2” tip as someone commented here! ) I can see that many older players like me had the same issue in their forehand swing: swing more with forearm, unnatural follow-through, always hit ball late and too near body side. On the other hand, young players seem never forget hitting balls “away from body”, and often seem “exaggerate” their arm extension and swing (I once mistakenly thought that they intentionally move their racket head back, but now I know it’s the result of extending their arms from 90 degree elbow unit turn position and then swing). I think maybe it’s because when people learn tennis as adults, they start playing “real balls” too soon instead of progressing with practice balls. The result is that less reaction time force them to focus on aiming the ball and hit safer instead of preparing swing with the best form. So practicing your tips with practice balls like “green dot balls” to strengthen muscle memory may make some sense.
I have noticed that in many videos the assumption is that you are already in a footwork position that is ideal for com.pleting the mechanics of the forehand. Getting the body just the right distance requires an idea of where in space we are going to make contact...in fact more where we want it to happen...I find much of the mechanics work them selves out...eg when my elbow is too close to my body it is often a result of the ball not being where I expect it to be. Maybe a surface imperfection on the court or a spin or gust of wind I hadn't anticipated. Some folks haven't built an experienced understanding for how a tennis ball behaves, or 'tells' in the swing that will tell me about spins and adjust for them
Thanks Grant for sharing this video. The best forehand video ever. I’ve seen hundreds of video and this is exactly what everyone needs. Looking forward to your other videos. You are the best…
I really liked the Drill #2. Gripping a racket with only 2 fingers and the thumb. Yeah, I'm gonna try that! Also, ALWAYS remember that none of these tips mean a thing without being in position to hit the ball in the first place. Footwork is key!
I ve been playing tennis for years I watched top many videos I always struggle and I see those guys who played since they were kids how there is a magic when they are hitting the forehand . The magic that I was not able to understand until I watched this video. Really great great great videos !!!
Gripping the rachet with two fingers and thumb, Drill 2 awesome. A very close to the heart stuff to put the Forehand in best manner as also use of leggs to generate power just beautiful. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video and valuable insane tips.👍👍
This video helped my consistency better than any other video I have watched over the past year. It was also better than my personal coach. I really appreciate the info and how you deliver it.
I started playing tennis 2 years ago and I just can't get enough of it. It has become my dream since to play pro but at 19, I don't think its a possible feet to accomplish. You're video really helped me perfect my forehand and I've been engrossed in your videos since. You've earned yourself a new subscriber and I hope that you keep uploading these really good videos to help perfect tennis techniques. Thank you so much!
It's all about mistake no.2 that is 90% of it IMO.. trusting the kinetic transfer. If you can master footwork and explosive into no.2 you got a forehand IMO
As a left handed player, I have a bad habit of adjusting strike zone not by foot work, but by adjusting my arms inward. #2 is exactly what I needed to hear
great video! not so long ago i read this great ebook for tennis beginners, helped my game so much, i think ist called ace your game: unveiling the secrets of tennis excellence for beginners ...dont know the author
This is an excellent video, with very important points explained clearly! Thanks for putting this video together, coach! I have to ask one thing - are Rafa's videos mirrored? He is hitting a right-handed forehand in this video.
Thank you for information on tennis mistakes Please do a video on keeping appropriate score I always get confused with what side counts and by what amount
no 5 is game changing for me, I wonder my shots keep being high, not bending my arms tends to swing a lot and make the ball high. I always try to bends my arms before hitting now. Bends first then hit, quite game changing.
Great video. I look forward to working on these. One question: the Kyrgios forehand and I think others I have checked show the elbow in closer, with bent about 45? Is this a next gen thing? Is it OK if I go that way? It feels more controlled and powerful.
I love tip 5 on the importance of not using wrist flexion to hit the ball, in other words as you say, a relaxed wrist is a must. That 2 finger learning grip(first 2 fingers) is a super tip. It seems to me that if one tried this 2 finger grip with the last 2 fingers(pinky and ring finger), it would not work nearly as well as a learning tool. But with the first 2 fingers, it seems to really almost force a relaxed wrist, in other words, not using wrist flexion to hit the ball.
that's brilliant tips to watch...my forehand was always weapon...but at times wors enemy of myself... I always struggle to create heaviness of shot although I always naturally could create easy power...
