Ehh it's a harmless enough little break, but I agree they should of expanded it in the remake. Also they have been playing around with the 2d formula, why not have Bowser star in one, peach did? Introduce a new villain that wrongs Bowser, maybe he kidnaps Jr. and the koopalings for some reason. World 1 is for once Bowser's lava filled one. The bonus world 9 could show Peach's castle. Standard moves would of course involve his fire breath and maybe a shell slide, like the blue shell in nsmb. Power ups: Dry Bowser potion: immune to fire, throws bones like hammers Vacuum shroom from Inside story: like Kirby or Yoshi, inhale and launch enemies at each other. Golden Koopa shell from mario galaxy: basically his version of the frog/penguin suit. Paratroopa wings: give a double jump Mega mushroom/Kamek potion: he's known for growing giant, pretty much replace the star Ice flower: self explanatory. Fire flower: unsure, maybe instead of a stream it's homing fireballs? I also think there should be some equivalent to the yoshis, drawing a blank. I'm picturing this as Nsmb game but gameplay would need to be a bit different on account of his size. He's known for his brute strength not acrobatics.
Chapter 6 sucked if you don’t enjoy dialogue Chapter 3 has really annoying side objectives that can easily be missed if your not paying attention Chapter 4 has a lot of back tracking (kind of fixed in the remake) Chapter 1 boss is extremely difficult if you miss a badge (though that’s kind of your own fault) pre chapter 5 have you running errands… pre any chapter has you run errands Chapter 2 you have to take care of dumb ai that get easily scared/stuck This entire game has segments that just sucks and makes me question why people like it so much… the combat is good though so it’s fine.
This was a diffrent time, Nintendo refrenceing their history is something we take for granted of today, but back then this was an awesome refrence that excited a lot of players on repeat playthroughs. Some would even call it a highlight back in the day. Kids who grew up within the Famicom/NES era were becoming adults during the time of the gamecube, which is when a lot of these sorts of self-referential material started to pop up in Nintendo's games. So between this and some other games like Animal Crossing and Pikmin 2, Nintendo did an awesome job during the 2000s appealing to as many Nintendo Veterans as they tried to welcome their Newcomers. It's really no wonder why that generation is one of the most passionately unified Nintendo communities.
The game could have achieved all of that without being too short. In fact, it would have achieved that reference even better by making the levels actually interesting to play.
@@GameCubicleClips you miss the point entirely; It was a very diffrent time, you really had to be there to understand. There was nothing like this back then, and they used it mainly for laughs because most of the joy came from just experiencing it. It's very easy in retrospect to say, "well they could have done more" when all it ever was is just a really fun gag for Bowser that's happened to age poorly because of how much more Mario has leaned into refrencing the same era as an identity instead of a small gag. Could have it been longer? Sure! But I think like most of the elements behind this game, it's just enough not to overstay it's welcome and keep new players wanting to finish the next chapter.
Yeah the Peach stuff is also pretty tedious. I love the writing of both intermissions but they don’t offer good gameplay. The Bowser levels bother me more just because they could have been good.
Bowser is my favorite nintendo character and I've wanted a Bowser game for my entire life. So yeah I agree these levels are way to short. You can't even reply the 3 levels which suck.
@gamesier2400 hey bowsers inside story is absolutely amazing! But Bowser only seems to be playable as a main character in spin offs or the rpgs. Like a non rpg game staring bowser without mario haha
I personally never enjoyed the gameplay of the Peach & Bowser segments in TTYD. They are just boring. Story & character development wise, they are good. I found the Peach segments in PM64 to be way more fun than the ones in TTYD. Maybe its because Peach's Castle is more expansive and spacious than the X-Naut Fortress.
Here's the thing, it feels *very* in line with Paper Mario for Bowser to show up just because he's upset he's not the main villain this week. He isn't necessary to the story of TTYD, really, but he 100% would insert himself anyway. Idk, it's like how you could cut all the bits with Luigi. Was any of it needed? No. But it feels right that it's there
I love Bowser, and while these sections did grow on me after a while, it still doesn’t help the fact that Bowser can be completely removed from the game and nothing would change. Not even kidding, he never once contributes to the story.
You what's funny back in highschool some kids tried to teach me how to rap and at the time I had just encountered this part of the game and randomly started rapping about how I played a Mario game where you play as Bowser lol

I’d buy that game!
No. The worst part of the game is anything involving general white

the bowser parts are good, the peach parts are not

From what I've heard the Bowser sections inspired Super Paper Mario, so not a waste at all.
I get it completely but it’s like supposed to be a joke. Sort of like the rest of paper bowser and the Quest to become Relevant
They didn’t have to be so short. It could have been a joke and enjoyable gameplay wise.
@@GameCubicleClips I guess I can understand that perspective. Maybe you’re correct actually. Have a wonderful day
You as well! Thank you for the contribution to the discussion!
I would love a full game based on these Bowser stages.
i really like playing as bowser in those levels. it is always fun to do them. that is one of the reasons why i like starting the game over a lot.

Bowser was the reason why Grodus didn't straight up kill Mario near the end of the game.
@@nintendoboy3605I'm pretty sure Mario could manage
He's Mario
And he beat Grodus anyway after having to deal with Bowser first
@@Gamebuilder2000 Alright but Mario couldnt finish Grodus off or he would of killed Peach, you really think Mario would of let that happen?
He's main contribution is to give a reason for why Mario gets to fight the Koopa Troop elite in the Rogueport sewers.

One of the best mario rpg's? its the best mario game of the whole franchise
