Amazing video! You showed me a store that wasn't originally on the map that I was looking at. In addition, you're one of the few people on TH-cam that actually showed respect for the culture and store.
Getting such an in depth close up look of a premier Japanese Pokemon Card Store feels not easy to come by. It seems most shops value privacy which I can't say I blame them for. These last two videos have been great. By far the best videos Ive seen touring a card shop in Japan. okJluv's deep knowledge and appreciation for the cards and illustrators adds a lot as well.
cheers mate! most Japanese card stores would prefer you didn’t film in them, but Otachu were super chill provided we kept it respectful. really glad we were able to film this one cause it’s the exact kinda vid I’ve wanted to watch myself - stoked you enjoyed it mate!!
sick video, I've been watching people go to stores in Japan but they don't present it very well in a easy digestable way like this. It always feels rushed with not explanation. The insight you give on each of the sections and prices makes this video great. Keep it up man
Nice vid!! Thank you for sharing! For the next time, you should go to Nagoya, Osu!! There are huge TCG town in Japan and there are so many amazing cards selling at good price compare to Akihabara:):)
I've seen so many videos recently of pokemon youtubers going into Japanese card shops then yelling and speaking really loudly into their cameras, disturbing other shoppers. Of course It's Julian who speaks in a lower tone, being polite and courteous to everyone else in the store. Big respect JLuv, best TCG youtuber :)
This video made me smile so much! I love your passion the card stores, the collections look incredible, and makes me miss Japan all the more 😭 The Persona OSTs used all throughout made the video 10x better for me!
I loved the vibe of this video SO MUCH. Such a chill and fun card opening!! Typically when people are gambling with mystery packs like these there's a frantic energy, but I really appreciated your calm discussion of the cards, along with the intermissions to check out the incredible shelves at the store. It was really awesome that they allowed you to film in their store to share all of the beauty with us! Looking forward to seeing more about your trip to Japan! :D
Such a sick vid, love the Japanese Pokémon store style vlogs - I’ve seen enough of the Pokemon centres but these types of card stores really are interesting!
Super nice video man, big fan of this video, great introduction to original packs, these seem like a very cool alternative way to mystery packs here, wholesome video man i really liked this one! Also i see you lugia ex i see you
i love the decision to stagger the oripa content with the rest of the showcase of the store, kept the pacing of the video fresh :) thanks for doing it like no other jluv!
sell may be tricky as you typically need a japanese residential address - if you have a friend who lives in japan they might be able to help you! if you sort that out, it's super straight forward - head to Card Rush in Akihabara, and try their 2nd store if the prices offered by the first main one (on L7) are too low!
My friend is going to tokyo tomorow. DO you know any shops in tokyo where there are a lot of japanese modern booster packs that they sell for a cheap price (175 yen)?
i like all the cards you got i collect the ones i like i don't pay to much attention to the monetary side of it and i really liked the video i love Pokémon
Hey, I'm sorry I'm asking this so late. I saw your video about what cards you picked up in Japan and on the video comments, you said you'd talk about what shops you got certain cards from. I was hoping to looking for VS cards, did you find most of them at Otachu? Or is there anywhere else you recommend?
hey, jluv, super excited for a new vid from ya. i just wanted to get back with you on you sending me some of your yuka morii and hyogonosuke bulk because before worlds i had posted a couple comments and you told me "after worlds i got you." so i was hoping we could be in talks about that soon! thanks! really hope you see my comment. and keep up the good work ❤
you're right you totally did, my bad! my notifications on youtube are super messed up and glitchy so i miss some replies and such. sorry about that. but i added you on discord! look forward to chatting there!
Some of these cards raw value are the same as PSA 9 or 10 graded value. They have some other cards at a decent price but I see you really have to have knowledge to avoid getting ripped off here.
Those mystery boxes are super interesting to me, mainly the fact that they aren't a complete ripoff, In the US they would be filled with bulk and the hit would be a V card 🤣
You can hardly find any real gem mint vintage cards in these shops. They are not silly not sending them to PSA and selling them at way higher prices...usually, you will find yourself paying double or triple the mercari price and getting a flawed card. Always be cautious and check the card condition first.
you can definitely find close to perfect condition, if not perfect conditions cards in these stores, you just need to look thoroughly which most collectors would do when buying - that's what i did. cards are priced accordingly, so the cheaper version of the same card may have a little bit of damage to it, but nothing outrageous.
Akihabara is possibly the worst place to go card shopping in Tokyo (imo), selection is great but only for those will to pay well above Japanese market price, Some of the cheapest places are the BOOKOFF Super Bazaars although they tend to be a little on the outside of Tokyo. That said when I went Akihabara felt like the busiest/ sweatiest place on earth so maybe you had a different experience
Thanks for the upload. Have you ever sold cards in japan? It's been about 15 years since I left Japan and I'm planning on moving back. I have a bunch of pokemon cards in english and japanese and wondering if I should sell them out here in the US or bring them with to Japan to sell or hold them

Great Video! The Persona soundtrack really hits hard, perfect vibe.

Amazing! Love the video!
Akihabara is awesome. I found a 3 level retro video game store with an old school arcade on the top level during my visit to Japan 🇯🇵
Super Potato! With a big statue of Big Boss at the top, right? Very cool store. Used to have the most INSANE pickups but it’s a bit emptier now :(
Awesome stuff, I could watch videos like this all day 😀
Thanks for this video, will pop in when I visit Tokyo later this year. Were you able to trade/sell back any cards and was it easy?

@okJLUV Thank you that's really useful to know!
Awesome Video! Love seeing the prices of the Vintage cards. Will Pick Up some gold Stars there probably If i dont buy some in Osaka already😊
Osaka is where it's at for cards mate, so many awesome stores there!
My friend is going to tokyo tomorow. DO you know any shops in tokyo where there are a lot of japanese modern booster packs that they sell for a cheap price (175 yen)?

Only question I have is how many of these card stores accept visa credit cards from outside of Japan?
almost all of them in my experience!
The persona 4 music ❤
Now I gotta go to Japan 😂

at 500yen a box they weren’t a bad deal at all, and were legit too!!
