7 Mistakes Every Gamer Has Made At Least Once

- Oopsy daisy, Rob made a mistake again. Conveniently, he’s presenting a list of 7 Mistakes We All Make In Video Games - so you won’t notice. Hopefully. These are classic things everyone is guilty of, from mucking about with grenades to getting stuck because you skipped the tutorial. Don’t worry though - because everyone does them, no one has to feel bad about them!
Which of these mistakes do you make the most? Missing the all-important headshot? Pressing the ‘kill everyone’ button instead of the ‘save the world’ button because you forgot the control scheme? Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. In the wrong size. And then I spilled ketchup on it. Have we missed any obvious mistakes that every player makes? Let us know in the comments!

Saving up rare consumables for "when it gets REALLY tough" and subsequently finishing the game with an inventory full of unused legendary buffs
Every. Damn. Time.
Recently had that experience in Visions of Mana where I didn't use the exp booster items for like half the game, but then decided to use them basically any time it ran out.
I gotta say, one of the most underrated things about this channel is they don't run ads, not even TH-cam ones. It has definitely made me watch more of this channel.
That's just one of the perks of being the Official TH-cam channel for Playstation UK.
one mistake i will never make, is missing an episode of friday feature....especially since returning to regular weekly videos
I’m just so happy they’re back!
I don’t always get flashbang’d.
But when I do….. I threw it.
Yes....me too, or like in Killzone when they literally give you a noise and visual indicator, I still have blown myself up more than I'd like to admit.
Same 😅
1. Grinding and farming for hours and forgetting to save.
2. Stepping into wooded areas in JRPGs at the very beginning of the game.
3. Falling for Bullet Sponge enemies that exist solely to make you waste precious ammo.
4. Failing a stealth mission because you whiffed a stealth kill and got caught 😂
I’ve said this a lot but man I have missed these so much. So glad it’s back
If I add a rare and/or expensive poison to an arrow before my stealth shot, I will be certain to miss when the target moves at the last second.
"Inverted Controls-which I maintain, is just weird".
I assume this was immediately followed by Nath explaining that actually, inverted controls are just like how you move a plane, and so they make perfect sense and actually YOU are the crazy one.
It's also how your head tilts
No mistake that's ever going to haunt me more than accidentally deleting my FF 7 save with a new save. I lost my ultima weapon, 4x cut materia omni-slash and had an almost ready gold chocobo. Still stings to this day.
I feel your pain, the gold chocobo is a grind on it's own without the other stuff
Daaaang!!!!😮😮😮😮
Dude, I did the same thing with Kingdom Hearts. I was CRUSHED, I shut off the game mid-save and corrupted both files 😢
😱😱😱😭😭😭
Same. It was years ago and I still haven't played it through again because of it. The moment I pressed x on the save screen my heart dropped but it was too late. I was so mad at myself 😅
too many quicksaves until you get too deep and can't go back far enough.
yes I'm replaying deus ex human revolution and yes I'm stuck on the second boss because I completely forgot about the electricity floor.
"Looks like it's lasagne for dinner." I see Rob is also a fan of Findus. 😂
@Stealthdud if Findus had a Facebook page they could legitimately say 'Findus on Facebook'...
I don't get that joke 😅
@@princessthyemis The found horse meat in frozen lasagna sometime in the early 2010s.
Bloody hell. You included _Elite Dangerous_ in the 'no tutorial' section? Even *after* the tutorial and multiple hours of floundering about, I still had no clue how to play. That thing's learning curve is like a brick wall on the side of Mount Everest.
100% orange juice is like that for me. Literally 50+ pages of tutorial and no clue how to play.
woah 100% orange juice, i don't remember 50 pages, huh
A refresh/update when you've been away from a game for a while would be wonderful.
Bring back games with a 'training' option in the pause menu
Can't tell you how many times I selected the sniper unit in Valkyria Chronicles, confident that I can take out an enemy scout or lancer that just moved into his line of sight, only to realize that they were out of bullets and I just wasted a move.😤
Relatable
Here are few to add to the list
1. Not checking for traps, guards, or enemies are nearby before sprinting over to snatch up some treasure or not checking to make sure a treasure isn't boobytrap before trying to get it like thinking a treasure chest is safe only for it to become a mimic that eats you
2. Not being careful with your resources & wasting either ammo or healing items then ending up in a boss fight with only your tiny knife & little to zero healing items
3. Picking up everything you see because your simply pressing buttons to quickly explore everything & getting over-emcumbered before you have a nice place to store all of your stuff
4. Skipping through dialog & then either making a companion angry or not knowing what is going on before ur meet with a choice & accidentally selecting the bad one
5. Ignoring warning signs and then rushing right into danger because you decided not to read the sign or didn't listen to a character & now your protagonist is dead or your having to fight enemies you could have avoided. This also applies to losing your patience to pick pock a guard at the right time so that your not spotted because you failed to pay attention to your little icon that says if your hidden or not
Stepping on a trap on the way to grab loot, clear enemies, or whatever... and then stepping on that same trap again on the way back. Surefire way to feel like the dumbest person on the planet.
oh your number 3 gave me nightmares of when I played Fallout 3... never again a Bethesda game for me, I'm so done with picking up rocks and utensils laying on the ground.
2:34 I thought I had a crack on my screen for a full ten seconds.
The mistake that comes to mind for me is accidentally restarting the course instead of going back to the previous checkpoint on Trials. Especially traumatic on really hard courses
Check the control scheme. Yeah, I had to do that when I returned to Elden Ring.
I had been on hiatus for so long I had forgotten the set up. 😅
A nice throwback to the 2013 horsemeat scandal. Reminds me of Charlie Brooker reacting to the news some Lasagnas contained up to 100% horse meat:
'100% horse meat?! That is a complete 'mare!'
I have NEVER... not made several of these mistakes!
Speaking of RDR2, one mistake you can make, is using your sawn off shotgun when shooting the shackles off an escaped prisoner... it's all kinds of messy!
The snowball of mistakes in Hitman is the bane of my existence 😅
That MGS entry was so relatable 😂😂
As a seasoned stealth game player the last point is way too familiar.
"looks like its lasagne for dinner" ROBERT!! I just about spat my mouthful of tea all over my computer!! Well played.
We all know that for the captures where the horse crashed. It was David who played. XD
I'm one of those people that grew up with game manuals with Atari on up. I always read them. I've never skipped a tutorial on a new game. Sometimes on a game that I haven't played in a long time that I've forgotten everything.
The hitting every small boulder thing has Ubisoft written all over it.
Everything you drive or ride in their games is moving as good as a sack of cement or a piece of wet soap, there is no middle ground.
Back in 1997 I remember forgetting to go to school for a week as I realised how amazing FFVII was..
Best intro to a Friday Feature in years 🤣I've restarted three trimes now to watch it over again.
Did I miss the mgs tally? Or was there none?
Is Dave still in hiding until haloween is over?
He cannot hide! There is a plethora of horror games he has to play!
Surprised you didn't mention this one Rob: Being a PES player and crossing while trying to shoot when playing FIFA, and vice versa!
Swapping to the alternate control scheme is still part of my routine every time I sit down with an EA football game. Much to the annoyance of everyone else when playing locally 😂
Game choices for mistake number 2 are spot on! Those are two PERFECT examples of games you absolutely DO need to follow the tutorials for.
Forgetting to save often if auto save doesn't exist.
Or you turn it off so you don't get in a kill loop and forget to manually save before getting off after 7hours of game play losing legendary loot. "Fallout4"
Omg!!! 2mins50 seconds that's the wood burning my other half made for Rob! 😍❤️
Dude, the Metal Gear Solid select was spot on. Doesn’t matter how many times I’ve played it, it got me every time
I got about 60 hours into Fallout 4 before accidentally discovering the V.A.T.S system. I wasnt concentrating, and skipped that part of the tutorial 😳
😏 Sure and like I didn't forget to save my Fallout 4 after 7 hours playing and lost two OP weapons, because I had to go to work in two minutes.
6:14 is the most relatable quote I've heard all year.
I actually enjoyed the fact that doing anything in Elite: Dangerous is nigh on impossible unless you've done the theory and then jumped down to the space DVLA to sit the practical. Now THAT'S immersion!
Rob deserves a knighthood for these. Over the years they’ve gone from outstanding to magnificent!
I would love to see a list of seven ways a protagonist receives a power-up.
I am the Kebab! 😂
Bloody RDR2 has always messed me up- my poor Gary (my horse, actually Gary 27 by now. "What have they done to you Gary?!"😂)🦄
Plus, I love failing my Hitman set-up to just go guns free to see how long I can last!
This list needed this:
We have a code red. A non- stealth situation. I repeat a non-stealth situation.
I can honestly say I haven't done 1, 2, 3, 5, or 6 (4 & 7 I've done thousands of times) ... I make a ton of mistakes, but apparently I've created new ways to fail, like accidentally using a specialized build in a general gameplay session or not realizing there is a time limit and taking my time discovery everything in the area... :D
I never pressed X.....but I have pressed the Cross button =) for MGS and MGS2. I learned by MGS3
7 is known as 'Going Full Mike' in certain circles.
Bouncing around a space station like a ping pong ball in a washing machine IS the tutorial of elite dangerous! 😂
Hit man is the one that I do the most 🤣🤣 the hit the small rock and go flying is funny but annoying
I'm glad they used Star Wars Outlaws for the crashing segment. I'm enjoying the game, but I do spend a significant portion of my time flying headfirst over the handlebars
Ah the memories of wondering why the MGS menu wouldn't work just came flooding back
In addition to your grenade warning: If there's a molotov cocktail you can throw in the game, and if you are not immune somehow to your own fiery stupidity, you WILL throw it and hit yourself with the splash damage...
8. when you've been playing the same game for so long you forget how to play other Games.
NO Cloud X is not Dodge that's Space Marine 2
My stealth always turns into an all out war and bloodbath lol
So your stealth needs stealth got it.😆👍🏻
Always happy to have a Dan sighting (hearing?) woo.
The swapped back button....oh boy! I have a long history with that....Specially when switching between Final Fantasy games and other games.
Selling items you might need later (especially are crafting materials) which then activates your hoarding problem in future games.
Nearly choked on my dinner laughing at the grenade segments lol
My personal favorite is "The difference between a novice and a master is the master has failed way more times."
#8 - Messing up the skill tree with no way to reset but to start the game again.
Rob was on his A-game with the comedy today yo. I was cryin🤣🤣🤣
I lost it at “A Madam Tussaud’s reject” 😂🤣😂🤣
in our defense sometimes those Skyrim npcs will just zip 10 feet to the side just as you shoot at them I 've had that happen with maxed out sneak with all the necessary perks and gear that was boosting sneak was even in very dark locations it's so damn annoying
My worst mistake on PlayStation was putting a memory card full of precious saves in, and when the system inexplicably asked “do you want to format the memory card?”, I said yes.
Why did it ask that?!?! Why didn’t it say “do you want to delete all your saves?” Man I was a dumb kid
I ran Arthur into a thousand trees before figuring out the button that basically lets the horse steer. The horse, having a formidable will to live, manages to avoid such things.
Nioh games got a lot of small unmovable objects with big pillar collision.
It’s been some time since we’ve heard Rob mention Elite Dangerous.
No mistakes…only happy accidents
"Whole 5 minutes of sneaking all over again." Stealth games in a goddamn nutshell and why i dont play them
7:26 the most Skyrim thing I've ever heard/seen 😂
Oh please people, every game that's has character creation make Rob, LEEEETZ GOOOOOO
@1:17 I laughed and beer came out my nose!! hhah nice one.
As if Rob would ever make a mistake thinking about games 😂
Number 8: When you play an old game after playing modern day games and forget that there is no autosave, and lose 8 hours of progress.
1. Ah i recall making a Gta 5 character then giving them a top hat, unfortunately, shortly after, i was forced to change outfit, that eyebrow ridge that fit my top hat nicely suddenly didn't have a hat to cover it up, needless to say i didn't continue.
2. Tutorials is one of the things I'll usually always do, especially cause of trophies.
3. RDR2 reloaded this, ok R2? is the interact with horse button *Bang!!* no, no it isn't...
Here's an old one, FFVIII (Ps1) made a save of a rather nice cutscene (Dollet? Boat) carried on until it's 3 hours later, time for bed, let's save, oh no saving over that cutscene.... panic, quickly turh off console.... is it safe? Nope cutscene save is corrupted, oh well it's like 40 mins in, I can quickly get there and make a new save, I'll just quickly check my progress.... oh no I quit the save, meaning those 3 hours of progress are gone, why did i panic and turn the console off.
One mistake I've made is thinking motorcycles are driveable. And I know it's not just me. If it were, the meme about CJ following the damn train wouldn't exist.
So Lasagne is one of Rob's favorite foods?
ROB MY MAN!!
0:09 Patient Gamer reference spotted.
I'm very thankful for FF13 and not being Rob's favorite game because we now have brilliant videos like these. Super Funny.
New one for me was ignoring metaphors constant warning don't bring a mace into this dungeon and doing it anyway. Turns out when they say it pisses off the enemies and boss they mean it.
That part with the horse on the mountain, with the sounds of them falling was so funny, Rob making ouch faces... But that punch line... Lasagna for dinner made burst in a literally LOL... Congratulations, I tip my hat to you good sir, that was fantastic.
Getting a rare drop (did I say rare, I MEAN SUPER RARE! What is with that percentage?!) from an enemy mob, then getting to a new area and, yep, you got bodied before saved getting that rare drop. That mostly leads to me turning the console off
I felt that MGS entry so much. It's true: that little *pzziuuww* will never not feel embarrassing.
Blasted ancient world control scheme.
2:34 what's with the black mark on the wall next to rob? Has Dave been scribbling again?
I miss being able to unlock a minigun to use in Hitman. Walking into the hotel with a minigun in the briefcase..... fun times
Which game was that ?
Not checking for missible trophies before you're 10 hours in
I'm surprised Rosie Shepard wasn't chosen as an example for entry #1 ^^
I feel like Dave forgot to tally th MGS references for a while!
I fell through the map because I was racing around and hit a rock while playing Far Cry 6 😂😂😂
mass effect 2, character looked good from the front but had to watch his haunting profile most of the game, I always check the side profile since
I haven’t with the character creator because I normally don’t as all those options drive my anxiety through the roof 😵💫😵💫
Hello Rob! you've caught me on my birthday today! 🎉 thanks for great video also :)
2:30: Finger long, Rob. Sorry, can't resist in these cases.
Missed opportunity to 'mistakenly' forget an entry on this list.
I play Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) and get the snowball effect all the time. I want to go to the delve I've been walking to. It is too far to walk so I get out my mount. No materials (mats) were seen before I get on my mount. The moment I pull out the mount and take 2 steps. Mat. I pick it up. There is another. I pick it up. There is a 3rd. Oh, there is another one. There's more. Before I realize it. I'm twice the distance I was to the delve. Than when I started going to it. Wait, there is a fishing spot. Oh well, I need fish. No more delve. rinse and repeat.
9:47
Oh I know this one ! What Yahtzee Croshaw calls a “Cockup Cascade” ! 😆😆😆
walking tanks with a cardboard box = metal gear solid reference.....check...
Stardew Valley. Leaving a bomb in your hot bar. There is no greater pain. What a lovely set of statues of endless fortune I had. Time to reset.
Number one hasn't happened to me legit because I spend way too much time on character creation screens.
Getting cornered and stuck on the level geometry, unable to move or get free, before being deleted. I’ll gripe and fuss, blame it on the darned devs, but it’s usually my fault.
4:24 Rob has finally lost it🤪🤪🤣🤣
I can't help to feel bad for the horse when I crash into or of something in rdr2.
