What do you mean your daughter did ALL the audio on this? How could one do ALL the audio on a project of this size? And Nicky Briggs is doing the audio of the daleks.

      An episode without the Doctor or original companions, yes. Easy. An episode where someone tries to replace Hartnell, Susan, Ian and Barbara? Might not be as easy to recreate. It'd be like having Richard Hurndall or David Bradley portraying Hartnell. They did a good job but it'll never be the same.

    • @Kaecyy
      @Kaecyy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      You are so right on about the forest and the Vargas! Now THIS is how whoever the hell owns Star Trek now should promote Star Trek Continues. And bloody well get some sense and start paying those people to make more! These kinds of retro productions are EXACTLY what so many of us Star Trek and Doctor Who fans want.
      AND it's high time that these 1960s Daleks finally get their own spinoff, as Terry Nation clearly intended with Mission to the Unknown and what followed- a sort of Blake's Seven meets the 1960s TV Century 21 Dalek Chronicles comics I expect. Following the look of the latter would be a design master stroke. The Daleks in all their biological chemical nuclear genocidal racist horror have largely been wasted on Doctor Who, which is strongest when the horror element is strongest- a fact too often hampered by the show's family entertainment remit. Compare the Daleks of the original 1963 serial to their later incarnations and one sees that they have become caricatures.

      The new series should return to a lot of classic who's style I do like new who but I find myself equally disliking it today for it's lack of atmosphere, and poor dialogue/ attempts at humour that distracts from the plot.

    • @Kaecyy
      @Kaecyy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I completely agree, though the return to history episodes is a bright spot. But the 13th Doctor hasn't done any proper horror yet, alas.
      Also- Doctor Who needs to bring back for more all of the wonderful aliens in the Galactic Council, but in particular Sentreal the evil Christmas tree. In the name of intergalactic security I need to know EVERYTHING about this alien and its civilization.
      And while Nicholas Briggs is to be commended for bringing back some of the variety of voices the Daleks used to have in the 1960s- and I hope they keep them resurrected for the current show- the black Dalek completely flubbed its lines at the conference. In the script it clearly reads- "Iä! Iä! Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah-nagl fhtagn!!!".

    This era of television is a lost art now. I call it "electronic theatre" because it owes far more to the stage than the cinema. The sheer amount of hard work they put into these productions is astounding. An entire 25 minute episode would be filmed _as live_ within the space of less than 2 hours
    Some people laugh and sneer at the fact minor fluffs would be left in and the multi-camera setup means actions are never exactly perfect, but that's because editing a completed scene wasn't possible on videotape at the time. They could only chop off the start or the end of a take and because of the limited time they had in the studio a scene would only be remounted if it was completely unusable.

      The supreme Dalek has no eye pupil, the eyepiece is meant to be black not silver, it is meant to be silver in the middle section, not black and it is supposed to be matt black, not dusty thick glossy black. That is going to be a big glaring problem when people watch The Dalek's Master Plan in surviving episodes and reconstruction. And the fact it has no eye light or at least an eye circle, just a black silver eye stalk looks so awful, it doesn't cost much money to get that fixed.

But..... a production of DMP would be great. This is a pilot, really, see what the interest is, and who knows what may develop in the future. It would be great, if possible.

    It is as if I were watching the original episode. Acting is correct to the period, the set design is brilliant and the camera work is on point. Brilliant work from those students!

    brilliant reconstruction, feels like i am watching the original episode when i see this. My only criticism is that there should have been a dedication to verity lambert as the original episode was her last story as producer for the series. Overall, a brilliant recreation.

    I couldn't be more amazed by how authentic it turned out. Extremely faithful to the original production, capturing the essence of the 1960s (in black and white), this is truly one of the best recreations I have ever seen. Bravo to all the cast and crew involved! BRAVO!! 👏

    What an incredible homage to the original prequel. Surely, this MUST form part of the animation box set of The Daleks' Masterplan? We must lobby the BBC!

      Why not Ian Levine's animation of it? Unlike his other animationd, his version of mission to the unknown actually looked like an official animation and it had a bunch of interviews and special features from the original cast and crew
