Even though Ann had the majority of the vocals she was disrespected at this time in their career. She had gained weight and somehow Nancy was up front as the ‘face’ of Heart. For those of us who were blown away by their music, we didn’t care. Ann was the one who had the power which made them stand out at a time when Zeppelin ruled the airwaves.
Give the original by "Toronto" a listen. It is only a Demo as the Music Company, and a couple of the band members refused to let them release it as it was too "sappy". Too bad. When Toronto did this live, Holly blew out the joint, as she then was the equal of Ann.
Ann Wilson (lead singer) and Nancy Wilson (guitar). Nancy has one of the most amazing voices in Rock, and siblings singing together always sound so sweet (Everly Bros, etc.)
Yes, this is the first single from their self-titled album released in 1985. The album went on to have a total of five top-ten singles. I don't have the exact sales data but it is in excess of five million (long before streaming and digital copies).
Give the original a listen. It was by Toronto, and it broke the band apart after having many hits in Canada and a couple in the States. Husband and wife guitarists wrote it, but management and a couple of other members said no to putting on their upcoming album years before Heart, as it was they said to sappy, and then BAM it became a huge hit for Heart. Now the version by Toronto is only a Demo but you can see Heart changed literally nothing, except adding Grace Slick to do backing vocals, which shows. Holly Woods Toronto's vocalist in the 80's was as good as Ann, and when they played this Live before Heart released it, it was glorious.
I saw them at The Grand Buddakan Theater in Tokyo when they were touring for this album. I was in the Air Force at the time. It was the 3rd time I'd seen them starting back in 1978 on their Dog and Butterfly tour. They always put on a great show and for that first concert, I only paid $7.75 for my general admission ticket. Love them!
Here's another new group to give a listen, if interested. "Booker T & The MG's - Green Onions (Official Audio)" (by the channel: RHINO) --Booker T was an American musician, songwriter, record producer and arranger and best known as the frontman of the band Booker T, & The Mg's. He was a significate figure in the southern soul music scene, partly through his work at Stax Records in Memphis. He has a connection to the Muscle Shoals movement due to his broader influence and collaboration between the musicians in the southern soul genre. While Booker T. & The MG's were primarily based in Memphis their style and sound had a pretty impactful influence on the Muscle Shoals scene. The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section also known as "The Swampers" were inspired by the work of Booker T. And as always, I enjoyed rocking with you two and thanks for sharing. peace out~
Great reaction gents!! I was SO happy to introduce Heart to my boys, but especially my daughter!! She LOVES the song Alone. Ann & Nancy are THE women of rock, IMHO (there are others, but they're my faves!) - they paved the way in the 70's where it was definitely very male dominated! Amazing song - HIGHLY recommend another from this album: If Looks Could Kill (if you want female empowerment - this is it!!). Another track, from a subsequent album, called Never, is also killer. Cheers!
Living in the Pacific North Wet 💯 we got to get to know Ann & Nancy Wilson before the rest of the world caught up. Late at night I could get a good strong radio signal from Vancouver and Victoria, B.C. stations. We used to drive up from Seattle for a weekend so we could drink. Canada lowered the drinking age to 18 in the early 70s and it was 21 in the states. The first time I saw Heart I think they were still White Heart, actually. But local Vancouver radio was playing the early Mushroom singles before American radio would take them seriously.
Heart had been pumping out banger rock tunes for years and then shifted into reaching for pop power ballads because they weren’t getting the airplay they deserved.
HI LA AND CHI❤ I love your channel. Please put the following Heart songs on your SHORT list 😊these are the best deep cuts... Cook with Fire and Go on Cry and Mistral Wind and Love Alive and Little Queen Sing Child ( I think you did that one ).
She’s saying “what about love” like he’s forgotten about it. Kinda like, “where did your love go?, you forgot to include it in your life.” That’s what I get from it anyway
The vocals are strong. Not a great song for the ages, but she can belt. Again, thanks SO *much* for doing another woman. Rick Beato called The Euryrhmics song Here Comes the Rain Again a "perfect song". I like the production touches by Dave Stewart on some deep cuts more, but you could do that song or another, and hit another song by a woman that way.
Now go watch The Original by Toronto. Only a Demo, but Holly Woods was the equal of Ann at that time. When Toronto did this Live the place just went quiet as Holly ripped us a new one.
Since you love drums check out Def Leppard. One of the best 80s/90s bands imho. The drummer had an accident and lost one of his arms early in their career.
Great reaction - not one of Heart’s best, but still great! Would love to hear - here comes the rain again (or anything by the Eurythmics) like another commenter said. Or something from the Pretenders first album. ❤️
You guys have produced. Would you have liked to have produced, let's say. Late 60's to mid 70's? If so who would you would have liked to get your hands on? Just curious.
Love Heart but their 70s stuff ad early 80s was better and still got radio olay on iAOR stations. This has thgat 80s rock Ballas bombastic sound. Even it Up, Heartess, Bebe lLe Strange, Barracuda, Alice Man, Crazy iYou pure gold.
@@AirplayBeatsyou have not hit any Sabbath with Dio as frontman. Need to do something from the album Heaven and Hell. I suggest Lonely is the Word for Tony's amazing solo or for fast,-paced Neon Knights or Die Young.

Ann Wilson’s voice is iconic
The Goddess of Rock, Grace Slick on so called Backing Vocals. Two of the finest ever.
In my opinion the greatest female rock vocalist of all time. Had a mad crush on both sisters in the 80's
Yep
I think we all had a crush on the Wilson sisters at one time or another.
I’d agree but then along came The Warning !

Ann is the main singer on most of their songs including this one. She has the most powerful/amazing voice.
Dog snd Butterfly is a early song on the softer side and great vocals. 🎶🎼🎶🤠
Queens of Rock n Roll...!
This was a huge hit back in the day. These Ladies do it…banger.

HEART..❤ (What About Love)❤
Love these ladies!! ❤❤ Barracuda is probably my favorite 😍
Alone has got to be the next Heart song. Annes voice is so epic.
Ann Wilson vocals 🔥 Che made a great point about rock ballads retaining that driving energy. 💜💜💜

Love these stories. Saw them a few times myself, state side. ❤❤
Thank you for your service.
Such an amazing powerful voice…what about love? You might need it someday…fantastic lyrics!
“Alone” is also an amazing song

Never heard a bad song by Heart! Anne’s voice just pulls emotions of you! As I reach for a hanky. ✌🏾🥲
Killed it as usual. Thank you guys.
I wish for y’all to witness Nancy on lead vocals!
These Dreams - live from Seattle.
My first "rock 'n' roll crush" 😂
Saw them for the first time on New Years Eve 78ish Seattle Center Coliseum.
This is my favorite Heart song as it was the first one I heard as a kid back then. But it has a strong contender with Crazy On You.
Living in the Pacific North Wet 💯 we got to get to know Ann & Nancy Wilson before the rest of the world caught up.

Magic Man is an absolute banger. Please react to this song asap ❤
What a banger! Excellent reaction, fellas!!! 👏🙏🙂❤️
Howard Leese is never given his due as Heart’s lead guitarist. He’s an amazingly talented musician.
✨So Love Your Reaction & What Che mentioned about having Daughters❕Sweet❕🫶🏼✨💖✨🔥✨
You’re talking about …. “The Power Ballad” !
Speaking of hearing Led Zeppelin in Ann's voice, "Mistral Wind" is an absolute MUST!
Heart had been pumping out banger rock tunes for years and then shifted into reaching for pop power ballads because they weren’t getting the airplay they deserved.
🌸 I absolutely wore this album out in my car !!
Trimagic man by heart
Their music in the 70s & 80s was different, but I love both eras for them. They always made great music.
The lyrics so true! Love this ❤ thank you Guys.
The Greighties!!! The band never got the recognition they earned
Lol oh sweet lord, ima be singing this - TERRIBLY - for the whole weekend.🤭
My youth !!!!!
There's Never BEEN ANY BETTER !!!
Their comeback into the 80s.
Try "Never" please.
Think the big guy might like "Dog & Butterfly," Nancy's fav song of big sis Ann.
❤❤
Was on Radio so much back in 8Os. Could hear her voice booming out cars 🚗 😅
Killer power ballad
❤😊❤❤❤”TRUE SISTER ACTS”❤😊❤❤❤😊❤❤❤😊❤❤❤😊
Both heads rocking today huh fellas ? Saw em in Atlanta in 76 , I believe, Georgia Jam...

Guys, I hope you'll React to "When I'm With You" by Sherrif. Great Power Ballad with a fantastic lead vocal.
She’s saying “what about love” like he’s forgotten about it. Kinda like, “where did your love go?, you forgot to include it in your life.”

The ICONIC 80's rock ballad anthem is "HOME SWEET HOME" ~Motley Crew

I have a great suggestion- Etta James Id Rather Go Blind ( live at Montreux ) 1975.
Now go watch The Original by Toronto. Only a Demo, but Holly Woods was the equal of Ann at that time. When Toronto did this Live the place just went quiet as Holly ripped us a new one.
Men hear women's voices with a completely different part of the brain.... (primal)

The male version of this sound would be Cheap Trick's Lap of Luxury and Busted albums.

Annie Lennox "Would I lie to You?" video.
@@suesebree8670 yes!!
Lil Wayne sampled this song during his mixtape peak back in around 2006-2008, that's probably where you heard it.
I might’ve tried to sample it before too
You guys have produced. Would you have liked to have produced, let's say. Late 60's to mid 70's? If so who would you would have liked to get your hands on? Just curious.
That’s a tough question. First name that keeps popping up in my mind is Marvin Gaye.
@@AirplayBeats Too many to choose from but Marvin is a good start Bros.
@@AirplayBeats I get that. Good choice. Thanks for taking the time to indulge me.

Watch and review the video of Call me When You're Sober by Evanescence. Strong female vocals over hard rock music. please!
Sabbath!!!!!!!??????
We need a little break before we jump back into another full album
@@AirplayBeatsyou have not hit any Sabbath with Dio as frontman. Need to do something from the album Heaven and Hell. I suggest Lonely is the Word for Tony's amazing solo or for fast,-paced Neon Knights or Die Young.
Not their best in the later years. Saw them 2x when Barracuda was released.
After they lost ther main lead guitarist, they slow rolled downhill...imo
Who the hell is recommending these songs to you? Most people these are songs no one listened to,,,, at all.
I'm a BIG Heart fan, but they went off the rails with the power ballads in the 80's. Not to my taste.
Dream of the archer, sing child is there best stuff long before this pop crap
Who chose the worst Heart song?
Maybe the second worst. "All I Want To Do Is Make Love to You" is arguably worse, as well as ickier.
This might be my least favorite Heart song. Anything they did in the 80s is suspect. (or "sus" as the kids say...)
Was not my fav Heart
