  • Hey y'all, if your radio is black and won't turn on, try this simple step before you take your vehicle to the dealer. This occurred to me in my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado after replacing the cabin air filter. Let me know if it worked for you!

I just fixed my 2014 Chevy Impala!! I can't thank you enough!!! I only took the two bolts from the bottom panel, under the glove box, (I have small hands) and that blue connector was it!! I took the panel loose and could see the two blue connectors. I then went around, turned the car on, went back to the connectors (which if y'all don't know is the back of the fuse box) The blue one closest to the engine was it. I wiggled both but the second one was the one that worked. The screen turned right on!! You saved me so much money!!! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

Had mine out worked 3 days, took apart second time, disconnected plug from him, cleaned both sides with electrical cleaner, applied dielectric grease to the poles reassembled , has been 3 years with no more problems.. ps this is last GM vehicle I will ever own, quality has plummeted in last 10 or so years.

pulled up to a wawa, looked at display cause music shut off and i had a black screen. Had to drive through rush hour, morning, orlando traffic for 45mins with no music ;( saw a few vids that suggested hitting the little button with guy on it next to onstar button by mirror, then hit it again but that didn't do squat cause all of my navigation was down as well (speed limit posting read 0mph) saw your vid, dropped the glove box, reached up under there and smacked around a cpl wires and sure as hell, it works again. And i didn't even have volume on when i watched your video (talk about simplicit ;-) 2019 Traverse Premier

Mine does that occasionally. Usually right after backing up, the reverse camera is cancelled, then the screen goes dark and stays dark. Quick fix is to just make a change on the climate controls. Turn the blower up or down and the screen comes back on showing the blower speed adjustment, after that the screen works normally... Problem is with the CAN network. Annoying but not worth spending money on when all you got to do is turn a knob one click

I have done your trick three times and it keeps coming back. The blue plastic USB connector is under extreme twisting pressure because the molded on wire is at a very bad angle. This is a GM wiring harness fault and we are paying for their mistake. I tried both ways to rotate the plug to take the strain off of it but it was no use. Those are very fragile pieces and to mount them with that amount of rotational force on them is absurd. I cannot get mine to come on or go off by wiggling the harness but it was off for two days and then just suddenly came back on. There should be a class action suit against GM for this crap. To have two $400 dollar components connected by a $1 plug is the height of carelessness.

Anyone have trouble getting the blue connection out of the hmi? I feel like I’m going to break it when I try.
