Hearing the way Jordan says "You win." Is just chilling. Everything he has been so brave to cover, and finally pushed so far he feels there is no other choice. There really isn't another journalist like him, and its scary to think what must be happening behind the scenes we don't know to wind up making him willingly taking the video down.

Thing is... they still win. They know people know, they don't care... what they do care about is people feeling safe enough to openly confront them.
This has proven that the police will NOT pursue actual death threats, not online death threats but threats from people who are known for killing or seriously harming people, including those who testify against them. And who have literally have direct ties to the person who has been arrested for the firebombing.

Whilst Australia may be a physically large country, we have a very small population for our size, slightly less than the population of Texas. What this means is that criminal gangs can literally threaten the police and media staffers and politicians behind the scenes by way of threatening the lives of their partners and children, as the small population, 60% of which is huddled into two main cities, is easily found. For example, I know where my state Premier's children go to school - if I were a psychotic criminal, I could easily use this public knowledge to my advantage, and that is exactly what big-time Australian criminal organisations do. You can absolutely guarantee that multiple members of the New South Wales police are involved in the gang in some way, and there are other high-ranking officers who know that it would put their family in danger to further investigate the crimes FriendlyJordies has shone a light on.

A premier is the highest power at the state government level, each state in australia has a premier.
And deputy premier is the second in command, they do alot of the same stuff but take on some of the less important projects and if the premier is out of commission for whatever reason they step in to fulfil the premiers duties.
The american politics equivalent would be the governor and lieutenant governor.

Investigative journalism is one of the most dangerous careers out there. It's not the actual work that brings the danger necessarily, but the response to said work.
I understand why larger media outlets play it safe, particularly because of how low the cash flow is in media, so you have to maximize profits by whatever means necessary. Necessary. But investigative journalism soldiers on in spite of the risk as well as the low return on investment.
This is why people like Friendly Jordies and Coffeezilla have my utmost respect.

The least we can do is understand why things end up the way they do. So if they sell out and take the donations from the billionaire here or the dictator there, we must understand the environment that pushed them to do so.
I never said I like it or agree with it. I've just been trying to see why things are the way they are, and this is what I've found to be true. I'd love to be proven wrong though, which would mean I get to learn something.

Okay. So. In Australia and also places like Canada, a Premier is a political leader who runs a state. In Australia there is 6 states and 2 territories. A State Premier or Chief Minister of a territory is the equivalent of a state governor in the US. Deputy Premier is second in command. If the premier is off on leave or out of state or country, then it would go to Deputy Premier.
Historically, Australia was formed from a bunch of different colonies that decided to unite in 1901 and federate (becoming a country). Each of the state premiers is based off of those old colonies where there is a leader for that state. They work with the Federal government on some larger tasks that they're unable to do themselves but there's still quite a fair bit that get done by the states.
EDIT: one additional thing I'd like to add is the Liberal Party of Australia and the National Party (formally known as the Country Party) are part a right wing "Coalition". Coalition means the two parties govern together and are the main opposition to Labor. Liberal is usually the Premier and the Nationals have the Deputy Premier. John Barilaro (Bruz) is a member of the National Party.

Regarding Italians and the racist thing- There is history in Australia of oppresion towards Italian immigrants here. Us British whities go through phases of which immigrant demographic we can't stand and think should go home. It was the Sudanese in the late 2010s, I'm assuming it's Palestinians atm.

still the sudanese, since they are still stabbing stealing and "struggle snuggling".
maybe when they stop doing that and become employed, maybe people wont hate them.
      idk maybe that's just me
