Is it even a fly? Some may say not but regardless of semantics it remains one of the most effect patterns you are ever likely to tie on your line. It may well be to some a pattern of last resort but if you have them in your box there will be a day that you will be glad you did.
As simple and quick as they are to tie people do struggle with them. So in this video I will show you how to cope with this somewhat troublesome material.
The fly is good for Trout, Grayling, Perch and just about anything else that swims!

Glad I subbed. I fish for great lakes steelhead and this is a really popular bait that ive wanted to learn how to tie. Being someone that uses spinning, centerpin as well as the fly rod, this looks like it would work well with all of them. I really like how it looks with CDC. But nearly anything looks better with it.
When we were over last March this was one of our best patterns for Steelhead. Hope to get back and have another go sometime.

I really like the Squirmy Worm, but its durability isn't great.
The ones I've tied keep becoming soft and breaking apart.
Is there a way to make them more durable?
Don’t use superglue and keep out of the Suns rays. Even then they are not that robust. Quick and easy to tie though.
You will damage the jaws of your vice if you don’t put the hook in properly nice pattern though
