I guess it's a nostalgia thing? The N Sane Trilogy was my first time playing Crash Bandicoot and I love the soundtrack. My wife, who grew up with the PlayStation classics, prefers the originals. I tried listening to them but I just can't get into it lol.
Great review. I did like some of the extra details they added though, like tawna being re-captured after each bonus stage, and the addition of fake crash in the background of some levels in the first 2 games after you beat them, and the audience in the stands during tiny's fight throwing cheese and tomatoes at you.
0:52 *THANK YOU* for saying that. God, I'm so sick to death of the idiots who can't tell the difference. Activision loves calling remakes "remasters", and it in turn has gotten other uneducated people making the same mistake too. It bothers me so much, as petty as it may sound.
That beginning was legendary. LOWER-TIER DISNEY VILLAIN HAHAHA and I completely agree with Crash 1 standing out w/ the N. Sane Trilogy. It's somewhat my favorite just by a SPEC in comparison to Crashes 2 and 3 lol. Relics are also competitive as fuck now so that's cool! Also 2:12 fuckin' kills me dude LOOOL
I remember you Jerimiahisaiah were one of the First squere eyed jak subscribers (well I was too...)! despite the fact that your content is amazing as well!
Probably won't happen. Crash is and has always been a Playstation game. I just pretend that the GBA games never existed especially the Spyro crossover... x.x
I hope to GOD(Oh wait. He doesn't exist...) this gets released on all platforms at some point. Wine all you want PlayStation fanboys, I'm not buying another $400 console just for one game.
I'm surprised, but I agree with you, Jack about the whole "spoiling the game" shit, I have the amino app and i joined the crash community, I enter and see a picture of the remade N. Tropy, it's like, WHY?! I can't avoid it!
Tbh all of these reviews with heavy warnings and lot of nitpicking basically means that a person is fan to the bone of that spesific thing and just wants to improve his favorite things, in this case Crash bandicoot francise as well as humanly possible. I agree with many of the things you said. Like it annoys me a bit that aku aku masks in remastered Crash 1 do 360`s unlike in the original which is cool, but unfortunately when u pick crystals etc in Crash 2/3 those dont spin at all... By no means gamebreaking but worth pointing regardless haha!
I see nothing wrong with the jumping mechanics. It makes it more difficult since we have to be precise with timing them. In the originals, most jumps can be easily made even if you screwed up on it a little.
I was really worried for Warped as well. I'm also glad I'm not the only one who felt mildly disappointed that N. Tropy wasn't lingering in the background in the opening cutscene.
Glad this video didn't come out any sooner. I didn't watch any other reviews of this game, after watching your other shit dude, I knew this was the only one I needed. Played through all 3 and you brought up all the issues I had. How fucking SICK is Toxic Waste's soundtrack though?!
I don't know I kinda like the NEW slippery climb theme song... as much as the original I know the NEW music isn't as scary but still it does have a groovy tune!
Nice review, Jak. I'm fucking pumped to see Crash back, for the longest time I thought for sure that Mind Over Mutant was the final bullet to the brain for the series and we'd never see our old orange boy again. I'm so happy that I was proven wrong in the best way possible. The best part for me is that it actually gives me hope for a Spyro remake, which would make me fill my pants with immeasurable quantities of joy.
Hey guys I hope you enjoy this one! If you're interested, I'll be live streaming the final relics for this game over the weekend at the normal times: Saturday 7pm Eastern for the US Sunday 12am for the UK and Sunday 9am Eastern for AUS So come along and watch me fail at being fast like Sonic, but staying cool like Crash, cheers!
Jak I Have The Same opinion As You.... Crash ! Was a Whole Lot Better And Is More Fun To Play... Crash 2 Does Not Feel The Same And i Would Rather Play The PS1 Version... But i Have Not Played Crash Warped In The N.sane Trilogy Yet... and Yes i Found Crash 2 To Be Harder And i am Usually Good at It On The PS1... Well Have a Good day. and I will Soon Do a Review Of This Game.
An excellent review, I must say. I like how you weren't afraid to give the little problems a thorough beatdown while still finding a lot to enjoy overall. To me, that's always been the best quality about the Crash series as a whole. For everything it does wrong, it does three things right in my eyes. No, we're NOT here to talk about Boom Bang or Purple, fanboys, so shut up. And I concur to the idea of seeing at least one more new Crash game to round out the package, or failing that, a remaster of CTR and/or Twinsanity. And yes, a remastered Spyro trilogy would be nice as well, not least because it would be my first time playing those particular Spyro games and finally seeing firsthand what all the fuss is about. On that note, I'll leave you and everyone else in this comment section to it, Jakky-boy. Have an N. Sanely great fucking day!
Having played and completed both the originals and remakes all in the past month, I still prefer the originals for 2 & 3. The physics are better, control is more responsive, voice-acting is superior, gameplay is faster, and the music is better overall (though some tunes I do prefer the N. Sane version of, particularly in Crash 3). The N. Sane trilogy is an appreciated effort from Vicarious Visions, and I'm grateful that they've brought Crash back into relevance...but when it's all said & done, the originals just play better as actual video games. N. Sane is just...prettier.
OhSureWhyNot I agree. Though some levels especially in the original Crash 2 looks way better such as the snow levels. The music is also better in the originals imo. (2nd, 3rd games) I really enjoyed Crash 1 on the remake though. And it's the prettiest one.
It's like they went all out on remaking the original, all the details were there and the graphics and environments were so much better then the other 2 remakes. Yes the graphics are amazing overall but crash 1 seems to have more effort put into it. Maybe they made the original the most graphically and detail intensive game to touch everyone's soft spot.
no they made the original more graphically and detail intensive than the other 2 because they started making crash 1 them moved on to 2 and last 3 that is why crash 3 is lacking some details JAK xD I think the game was a bit rushed... btw watch beta m's channel! he found many glitches in the game
To be honest I would absolutely love to see Vicarious Visions pump out an all new game with the same models and graphics as in the remade trilogy, or at least an all new series of levels. It would be nice to see a more Naughty Dog inspired game or more levels that aren't remakes of previous games. Like Future Tense is an example of this but it's only one level. I absolutely love the N. Sane Trilogy as much as the original trilogy and although we still don't have that new Crash platformer that stands tall with the Naughty Dog ones, we do have that Vicarious Visions remake which is just as good as the original.
I'm loving the game, but I actually don't see the controls as improved in Crash 1. I'm getting the hang of them now, so I'm no longer throwing a pity party for myself over The High Road, but I definitely think the Jump does not match the level design. This makes some sense since VV has admitted they basically had to unify the Jump mechanics and decided to take them from Warped. That's probably why jumps feel so off to me in Crash 1 and Slightly off in Crash 2. Even though it's miles harder, Crash 1 is DEFINITELY the one they put the most love into visually. I'm loving every second of it.
It's such a shame that less people are into Crash 1 in the remake. The changes they made were pretty small if you think about it but they really transform the game into something great. I'm also really glad to hear you share the same thoughts as me regarding the relics on the old games. I found them to be such a great way to breath some extra life into the older titles. I'm also glad to hear that you hated everything getting spoiled ridiculously early. I fucking hated that and no one else seemed to be bothered by it. Great video and great analysis all throughout!
Since this game has done well in sales and criticalnreception, hopefully we'll soon see new Crash games, and a Spyro remaster. I just hope if we do get a Spyro remaster, that it runs at 60 frames per second instead of 30.
I think this review was very accurate. Jak analysed the game very well and delivered it amazingly. Also let's all remember that the game has just come out, and Jak has got the review up already. Bra fucking vo *claps hands*
It's like every day I watch your content, I just keep thinking to myself, "How the hell does this guy not have a lot of subscribers and views?!" You just may be my favorite underrated TH-camr, and I agree with most of what you say in your reviews, including this one. Keep up the good work! :)
This is the most fair and well thought out review of seen of this game so far, great video mate. Looking forward to the Spyro Remaster review whenever that game gets made.
I love how there are things I can disagree with Square Eyed Jack on some topics, but he is really logical and I Can agree on a lot of things I didn't notice myself about certain games.. I will always appreciate his ability to be complete and logical without making up points and just complaining he has legit reasoning which is why I still enjoy this channel.
I wonder what is going to be next for our little orange fuck. Only time will tell. Great review Jak. We shall celebrate with Wumpa smoothies all round.
I think you've covered this remake the best ("Crash Bandicoot has become Dark Souls"? Really?), and honestly, when it came to talking time trails for Crash 1 & 2, I was half-expecting you to fit in the "Like Crash 3" gag from your Wrath of Cortex review, but I do have some issues with the game, and be warned, long wall of text ahead: The hitboxes do feel a bit off, in the second gate level in Crash 1, I got killed by one of the fires, despite a visible gap, and with some jumps, I sometimes either undershoot or land but because I wasn't on the platform proper, I'd slide off and die. The slide in 2 and Warped feels delayed, compared to the original where it was instant, there's like a briefly delay, same with jumping then crouching, Crash/Coco stall for a second before crouching, and it pretty much got my killed with the electric gates that required sliding in 2, though when it comes to controls in general, I would have kind of liked it if they had Crash 2/3 controls for 1, with 1 & 2 being able to have the abilities from Warped usable along with the Crash Dash in 2. One minor thing I felt could have been fixed in Crash 1 is the order of Heavy Machinery and Cortex Power, since it's clear with it's introduction cutscene, even in the original game, Cortex Power was supposed to be first, and it was this way in one of the original game's prototype builds, but was changed for the final game, I just think it'd make sense to fix that weird switch around. With the music, some tracks do appear to be missing some parts to them, most of which you can only really pick up with when playing with headphones, and to an extent, I do wish an "Original Music" option was available, though I imagine Vicarious Visions would have to pay Josh Mancell to use the original tracks he made. One funny oversight I noticed is that in Crash 2, when you leave the levels without crystals and Cortex tells you off, he still says look above the doors to see a slot for the crystals, when because of the addition of relics, the slots for crystals, gems and relics are now at the side of the portal entrances, which obviously means they didn't alter the script to follow this change. I don't really like how they kept the original challenge of having the "No Dying" rule for coloured gems in Crash 1, since it seems stupid to change it for clear gems, but keep it for coloured gems., Having relics optional in 1 & 2 is good move, even if some times for gold and platinums in all 3 games do feel a bit unreasonable to me, since it feels like Crash/Coco need jet engines in their asses along with the Crash Dash, I could only ever get gold relics in Crash 3, where in Crash 1 and 2, I've managed to get platinum relics. Not to mention, if they were going to go through the effort of remaking the original trilogy, they could have added more cutscenes, like showing what happened with Tawna after Crash 1, Coco's origin story, showing how Cortex got out the crystal caves after his first defeat, even what happened to the bosses in general and maybe some Uka Uka build up in Crash 1 & 2, since the story could have been a lot better this way, even if it would be showing the obvious, it'd be nice to know there's an overall story advancement. I know it seems like I'm crapping on this game because I've found faults in that annoy me, but I still enjoy the game when I actually get into it and have fun when I'm not losing my patience over missing a box because I wanted to get the gem or I feel the game screwed me with a silly death, since the games are meant to be about fun. Not to mention, I should be thankful, not counting mobile games, it was almost 10 years since a proper game, and I honestly had a feeling there wouldn't be anything before the game was announced, especially since it was almost Crash's 20 Year anniversary. And with some things, it does makes the original layouts look better than before, and they even add details that I could never see in the original games, like the Tawna tokens actually looking like her instead of what appeared to be a guy in drag dressed up as her, or even the Time Twister being out in the ocean. Also, Coco being playable and playing like Crash is awesome, in Wrath of Cortex, she was a limited version of Crash, whereas here, she can do what he can, so playing as Coco is nice, and to me, it's how you do it with having a male and female character in a platformer (for the most part), both being equal in terms of what they can do, even if it's only a cosmetic change in terms of the character. The fact you can use the D-Pad for "classic controls" kind of wraps it up nice for me, since the original games were made when the analogue sticks for the PS1 were yet to become a thing and it's more comfort thing when playing the originals or the N.Sane version, since some jumps and the like are better done with a more accurate D-Pad input instead of sailing to Jupiter with the analogue stick. Also, knowing they're doing a Lost Treasures DLC that's no doubt the cut levels from Crash 1 makes me wonder if they'll do DLC levels for 2 & Warped, like new levels for both, but for 3, maybe new levels based on time periods not used in the original game, like Wild West America, Edo-period Japan and Ancient Greece.
many complain about the First game and question if the game was that hard in the original and they say that they made the game a lot more difficult -.- they have certainly not played the original!
I'd say the 7-9/10 range is appropriate for this remaster. If anything this is the best review I've seen that gave the remaster a 7 so far. I just got done reading the review from Gamespot (which I hated) and it kinda made me appreciate reviews like this a whole lot more since you went into a lot of detail with the review. I'm gonna sub to your channel for more content cause of reviews like these. Keep up the good work.
I had to play through the games before I watched any reviews as I'm going to review the game myself but as soon as I finished, your review was the first one I had to look at because your experience with these games is just amazing. And holy balls this was great! Again, you were harsh but like always, it's coming from a genuine place which shows just how much you love the series and know the series can be truly great. I definitely agreed on your comments about the music, it really goes to show that music does play a big part in immersion and it's a shame they made the creepier songs like Slippery Climb or The Generator Rooms sound less intimidating than they originally were. Admittedly, there's not much I can say about the original first game as I didn't play it as a child and when I played it on emulator, I only made it up to Sunset Vista and got stuck there and the laptop I was playing on crapped out and died on me and I just wasn't wanting to start all over again at the time so yeah, I definitely can not go into depth with comparing the games but I'll take your word for it because you've played the game so many times. Crash 2 was pretty good but yeah, I think they could've done things a little better like the graphical effects on the projectors when talking to Cortex or Coco and Polar's stiffer/awkward controls. But fr the most part, I think it did just fine. Crash Bandicoot 3 was the one I was anticipating the most because it was technically the first Crash game I owned as a kid but yeah, I also agree that there were a few things off with this game. I know you didn't say much about the vehicles but I personally couldn't stand the Coco's jet ski levels, Fucking hell controlling that thing was bloody awful. I mean, I didn't die during them but I just didn't like the way it felt. Everything else though was just fine I thought. Overall, I enjoyed watching your review and I'm happy that you addressed the first thoughts and the aftermath. I remember your Crash hate" video and how it was negatively received but the early trailers really weren't that good and could've been better. But I'm glad you ended up enjoying the game and taking back some of the things you said in that video and even better, this little trilogy showed that Vicarious Visions definitely has the drive to deliver some pretty great games because at least for me anyway, their games were always on the hit/miss (mostly miss due to floaty/awkward controls/physics) but this trilogy shows that they have come a long way since their humble beginnings. Anyway, I can't wait to do my own review on this game but great review man, looking forward to see the next video and I hope that you continue to enjoy the leftover stuff this game has to offer, plus the DLC that is coming. :)
The problem with the physics in crash one and two is caused by the entire trilogy using crash three's physics across the board. They just took away some moves for crash one.
Before i start watching 1: you better Curse at least once in this Video and 2: I heard they are going to be making more Crash Game as this sold incredibly well 3: i am gonna never comment again until after a video in the future!
Been waiting on this review for a year. Proud of ya man. You were a trooper. Thanks for the video glad you enjoyed yourself. Need to play ratchet and clank. Its a good play like the original.
you know what? i would love a new crash bandicoot game, twinsanity style (or a finished crash twinsanity) or hell even crash 2 or 3 style but completely new, based on the level desing and mechanics of the old ones but still being a new game, something like dark souls 3 being a lot like 1 but improving on previous issues and just being a good game.
You can make a review on a game released just a week ago.....But you can't Review Ratchet and Clank. Overall man, Great vid, Love you're work, You have made me laugh through these hard times I'm having and I hope to see these vids never leave. In my opinion, you're underrated. Can't wait for the stream.
Im also a die hard crash fan since i was toddler, i feel the same way about all three games. They could of added more detail and focused on the soundtrack more and some levels in warped did not come up to my expectation. I was really disappointed with some of the death animations as to some being taken away from the original. But despite all of things i said it was a fantastic remake and they manage to give me that nostalgic feeling. Btw jak, i've been watching your reviews and your judgement never disappoints me, you have good eye for details mate!!
The alpha what you expect it's Activision not naughty dog they have until two years to do something with crash bandicoot or they'll lose his IP remaking crash bandicoot is not doing something with him just remaking his classic series I feel like Activision is not trying
Am I the only one who feels like, because the N. Sane Trilogy improved the controls in the first game, that Slippery Climb is more fun now that it feels fair? In fact, it's one of my favorite levels. But yes, the music sucks.
I freakin' love the game. Many levels and paths were made to be much easier (which is good because I suck at them). Music and graphics are orgasmic. Time trials kicked my ass but I was able to obtain golds and platinums in warped more than the original. However the time trial for high time can go fuck off. My only complaint is when they land on platforms they seem to miss the edge quite easily. Overall best remake ive seen
Square Eyed Jak Im platinuming (as in trophies) in the order of 3, 2, than 1. 3 I just need to rack up 99 lives. 2 i can get done just need to get relics. crash 1 will be hell for me XD
Also here's something to think about. Essentially this trilogy also acts as a sort of Soft Reboot to the crash franchise. After the inevitable CTR (maybe Crash Bash) remastering, Vicarious can continue the saga in new different ways. Hell maybe they'll reintroduce Crunch in a much better game and AVOID making him a goddamn Mr. T clone wannabe. Plus we could explore new ideas never thought of. The Sky is the limit and bless the gods that this "Reboot" kicked off the right way LITERALLY sticking with the basics.
When you get most of your subs. really eager to watch new content, that's when you know you're on the right path; honestly Jak I think I speak for most of your subscribers when I say that throughout the entire week (and the previous one) almost all I could think of was this video being uploaded. It's so pleasant to see some thorough analysis on this game since it is what Crash deserves. I really hope you keep delivering stuff like this.
I really like Tiny in crash 3. I feel like when he shreds the metal wall, it is less powerful and not as brutal in the original crash 2 but i guess that's just my pet peev. Uku Uku's game over in 3 is complete shit but is still an ok character. X]
Dingodile is awesome in the trilogy. His boss fight was easier in my opinion but is still a great character. I prefer titans N. Gin in because he was halerious, but this N. Gin has such a cool character concept.
N-Tropy because of his no nonsense/no bullshit attitude compared to Cortex's other goons. And he was always my fav boss to duke out against on the original PS1 game
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I like how analyzing your review was Jak, because, while you were kind of deep over minor details that grew up with you as a kid, it makes the review more unique the way you "execute" your words and even nitpicking in a straight and focused way instead of bickering and complaining all the time at a game so that you try not to alienate people with opposing views otherwise, even if they do sound kind of worrying and salty, unlike TheStimpyland in most of his areas, especially with his Wrath of Cortex re-review.
Jumps are harder because crash's hitbox is different. It was a big box in the originals, but here it's more rounded, making it harder to nail jumps, and why Stormy Ascent is practically unplayable except as a bonus challenge which really tests you
A 30 minute review from you, I'm in Heaven! Unfortunately, though, even after watching this it's like ugh... I still feel no excitement whatsoever for these games. I've played levels from all 3 and I'm just not feeling it really. I certainly don't dislike it by any means, and I can see how much effort has been put into these remakes (though the warp rooms and holograms in Crash 2 do look disgusting) but for some reason I can't seem to get on with it. I really wanted to feel blown away and feel ''wowed'' by the whole experience, the same way I felt as a kid when playing Crash for the first time, but it just didn't happen. Still, I'm happy that you and many others are enjoying playing them, and it's nice that a new generation of kids get to enjoy Crash now. Here's hoping this'll encourage VV to make a brand new adventure for our little orange buddy :D
Fan-freaking-tastic review Jak. I expect nothing less from you. You did a fantastic job at balancing the positive/negative aspects of the trilogy and were very fair to them. I can't wait to see what you do next! :)
good job jak! took the word right outta my mouth, i felt exactly the same way and you worded it way better than what i could ever have, cheers for another great video
Crash 1 is easy in this version, you say? I'm stuck on The High Road. It's pretty much unplayable. I tried it in the original version, and while the level is hard, it was doable. They've changed the jumping mechanics for Crash 1
Yeah I hear that people were kind of "meh" about how different crash felt with his "gravity" in the 2nd game. Aside from that, you did a great job analyzing how the game felt in your opinion. I felt jealous that I don't have a PlayStation 4 but, my brother does (which I'm trying to get him to get the game digitally) to explore this great remake from vicarious visions. Since that remake came out, I spent numerous hours on an emulator to play the nostalgic crash trilogy to reach 100% in all three games. Keep those good reviews going they inspire me!
A very honest and expert review, well done!. I quite enjoyed how you gave an in depth analyst approach to this review. Having a video that runs for 30 minutes, whilst trying to keep it entertaining would be hard, but you did it with ease. You gave each game well-rounded time which really suited your video. An in depth discussion about the games also helped the review, as it made it feel much more honest, unlike some prepaid shit from GameSpot and IGN.... I could imagine little things being so annoying, as if you've played something so often as this franchise, it's only common sense that you would see things different.I quite liked this as you weren't afraid to back down from your opinion, and the opinion matter. I feel that a lot of players who played the originals would have a similar viewing to you with these issue. For newcomers to the series they would completely overlook it, and you did a fine job at explaining the good from bad. Like for example I played the shit out of Halo as a kid, once the remastered them on the Xbox One, I was amazed by the graphics and gameplay it presented, however as I journeyed through the great Halo campaigns, I noticed that some things were different and I didn't enjoy them as much, an example was a campaign level was much lighter than the original level, which was darker. Same goes from what you showed with crash, some levels have a darker design in the original but are given a huge lighting effect, maybe the current hardware runs better with producing a level with better light, who knows why they change little things like that haha. Another piece I quite enjoyed from your discussion was you weren't blinded by nostalgia. Some people I've seen play the game have nothing negative to say about the game, only stating "Oh this looks amazing, the nostalgia feels". However you obviosuly would've gotten a nostalgia affect out of this game but you the review you performed was well articulated as you weren't as biased as some TH-camrs. Having an honest opinion like yours really helped the perspective of this review, you gave your full honest thoughts and that's what reviews are missing these days. I enjoy it when you go out of your way to review a game, as I can tell you spend countless hours on editing and filming etc. This makes me more indulged with your content as your one of the few youtubers I regularly follow that provide an honest opinion when it comes to games. Overall great job Jak, your reviews are the best. Have a great day! Hopefully they remake CTR too :P PS- What game capture do you use? I'm looking at recording some gameplay for certain games but aren't sure what would be a good one.
lol another nostalgia fanboy that bitches about the newer controls. Get good scrub. While the jumping mechanics are different from the original, they do make the games more challenging since you have to actually try to time your jumps right unlike the originals where you can easily zoom past everything.
Love the channel man i didnt know u still made videos u disappeared from my home page for months. Whered u get those crash toys that are in packages. What are they from?
Honestly I prefer Polars controls in N Sane Trilogy as the original felt to tight and especially on those last three boxes could be a bitch so having better Horizontal movement is nice.
Awesome review on crash n sane trilogy. Growing up with crash on ps1, this is a faithful remaster of the first 3 games. Granted like you said, there are some lacking details in some of the levee. But the overall package of the game is great.
They changed the death animation in the 1st Crash when the screen was black showing Crash spinning and falling back 1st. Now he just turns into an angle like 2 & 3.
Great review, I love this "fully remaster from the ground up", VV make a good job and now I hope CTR and Bash remake (CTR has more chances, I know) PS: There is a possibility to you make a Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale review?
Really good review, I agree with a lot of the points you made, as I had the same experiances whilst playing through the game as you did. For example with Coco's jet ski levels, I didn't like the way the Jet Ski controlled at first either, but the more I played it, the controls grew on me, and I had a better feel for them :) I think overall I would give the trilogy an 8 out of 10. The game looks gorgeous, the music sounds amazing and the amount of work and detail put in is brilliant imo, but unfortuneatly the jumping mechanics and weight of Crash did feel quite clunky and sluggish in parts, the hit boxes on enemies were bullshit at times, and the load times are a bit too long and boring. I think Vicarious Visions have made a lot of fans very happy, plus it's a great entry for newcomers to the series :D
Coco is friggin adorable. I love her design so much.
Crash 1 being better makes this whole collection worth is in my opinion that game was in dire need of improvements. Fuck The High Road tho lmao
For sure and yeah, FUCK The High Road! :P
Square Eyed Jak
All the other levels were pretty easy, but when i got to the High Road i lost like 30 lives because of the damn turtles...
the only legitimate complaint I have with these remakes is the jumping mechanics and the ice physics
One of N Brio's Bonus levels (which you have to hit all the boxes now), I swear Crash couldn't make it. Many retries, I did it!
Einamu エイナム Because the Edges in the levels are not square anymore
they are like a U upside down (half circle)
Einamu エイナム and the loading screens
Seriously wish they would update it
I wish there was an option to have the original soundtrack
And no subtitles too
I guess it's a nostalgia thing? The N Sane Trilogy was my first time playing Crash Bandicoot and I love the soundtrack. My wife, who grew up with the PlayStation classics, prefers the originals. I tried listening to them but I just can't get into it lol.
Ahhh, another Crash Bandicoot review. Like good times…
Very true. Crash bandicoot was a ps1 classic. Crash bandicoot review is a Square Eyed Jak classic.
I feel like his falling speed is faster, so most of the jumps are harder to do, like the jumps from the turtles in the High Road.
Exactly.
Get good then
Since when did you play crash? I’m a big fan
Awesome review, Humanized Dingodile.
Lel
Lol xd
Something i really loved that VV included in the game was a Leaderboard for time trails.
Great review. I did like some of the extra details they added though, like tawna being re-captured after each bonus stage, and the addition of fake crash in the background of some levels in the first 2 games after you beat them, and the audience in the stands during tiny's fight throwing cheese and tomatoes at you.
Yes, love all of those details. I just find it disappointing that existing details are kind of lacking
fair enough and I agree with that 100%
I enjoyed the quality of life changes to crash 1 but the original 2 and 3 were better
LOWER-TIER DISNEY VILLAIN HAHAHA
and I completely agree with Crash 1 standing out w/ the N. Sane Trilogy. It's somewhat my favorite just by a SPEC in comparison to Crashes 2 and 3 lol. Relics are also competitive as fuck now so that's cool! Also 2:12 fuckin' kills me dude LOOOL
jeri will u do a collab with jak and some point??
I remember you Jerimiahisaiah were one of the First squere eyed jak subscribers (well I was too...)! despite the fact that your content is amazing as well!
👀 @KolaPro
Yes I was, and I appreciate that, @VGAmissos!
I want a PS4 more badly than you can ever imagine.
Fingers cross for a Xbox One release! Oh maybe a Switch version.
I don't have a Switch (because pretty much broke) and I don't have a Xbox One (I have absolutely NO reason to even get one)
I bought an uncharted 4 ps4 pack with a controller for 250..
I'm surprised, but I agree with you, Jack about the whole "spoiling the game" shit, I have the amino app and i joined the crash community, I enter and see a picture of the remade N. Tropy, it's like, WHY?! I can't avoid it!
Yeah it really is a shame, I had the ending for the first game ruined for me with a thumbnail. IDIOTS!
I feel u man
Unlisted fucks...
B.B.J.B ?!
@@SquareEyedJak how is that a spoiler if you know how ending plays out
Tbh all of these reviews with heavy warnings and lot of nitpicking basically means that a person is fan to the bone of that spesific thing and just wants to improve his favorite things, in this case Crash bandicoot francise as well as humanly possible.
The only thing i hate is the jumping. In crash 1 especially, i CONSTANTLY undershot my jumps. The hitboxes were very inconsistent as well.
I see nothing wrong with the jumping mechanics. It makes it more difficult since we have to be precise with timing them. In the originals, most jumps can be easily made even if you screwed up on it a little.
Love how old school you tried to make the intros of each game
It was a really nice effect =]
I was really worried for Warped as well. I'm also glad I'm not the only one who felt mildly disappointed that N. Tropy wasn't lingering in the background in the opening cutscene.
IIRC I was looking for him in the background. Was disappointed
A 30 minute video that I am actually keen to watch all of and enjoy! Ya never fail Jak, keep it up man.
Cheers mate! :D
Square Eyed Jak. good vid. u & Cal are both equally good
Square Eyed Jak CHEERS :D
You gave a such a damn good delivery of the Dingodile line. Fucking love it
LMAO I had the same 1st death as you with the boxes appearing slower, I had to restart the game when I made my video so it wouldn't look stupid lol.
Ahaha that's amazing, glad I'm not the only one there.
+Square Eyed Jak yeah they fucked the slippery climb music
Square Eyed Jak originals same remastered but i hope developer made team racing and bash ✌️😁
Your remixes are straight fire dude. I really love your work. =]
you're definitely now the only one as this has happened to me as well
The High Road.... So many lives were lost during that level. Even ended
up rage quiting but I think I can do it with less deaths now.
Glad this video didn't come out any sooner. I didn't watch any other reviews of this game, after watching your other shit dude, I knew this was the only one I needed.
Played through all 3 and you brought up all the issues I had. How fucking SICK is Toxic Waste's soundtrack though?!
Thanks mate, and yeah Toxic Waste music is SOOOOOO good! :D
If you're interested, I'll be live streaming the final relics for this game over the weekend at the normal times:
Saturday 7pm Eastern for the US
Sunday 12am for the UK
and Sunday 9am Eastern for AUS
So come along and watch me fail at being fast like Sonic, but staying cool like Crash, cheers!
12am in the UK. I stay up at 12 just to watch your streams XD.
I hate it when people bitch about him and how he takes his time with his reviews. Him uploading the review so early is just amazing to me.
Well Have a Good day. and I will Soon Do a Review Of This Game.
cool and thanks for the schedule mate I hope everyone gets it.
what score did he gave??
Having played and completed both the originals and remakes all in the
past month, I still prefer the originals for 2 & 3. The physics are
better, control is more responsive, voice-acting is superior, gameplay
is faster, and the music is better overall (though some tunes I do prefer the N. Sane version of, particularly in Crash 3). The N. Sane trilogy is an appreciated
effort from Vicarious Visions, and I'm grateful that they've brought
Crash back into relevance...but when it's all said & done, the originals just play better as actual video games. N. Sane is just...prettier.
OhSureWhyNot I agree. Though some levels especially in the original Crash 2 looks way better such as the snow levels. The music is also better in the originals imo. (2nd, 3rd games)
I really enjoyed Crash 1 on the remake though.
@@vgamissos5983 Crash 3 has better graphics overall, did you see the medieval, arabian and jet ski levels?
Wow Jak this is early. Good job dude.
actually its 2.50 am to me
I was talking about how fast the review was uploaded lol.
"It wasnt scary enough"
Me: Ah its because you grew up.. > >
I bought the N. Sane Trilogy on release day, 100% it in 3 days, and then haven't touched it again ever since.
See you all in 20 more years.
I think you deserve more subs for such great content
"there is a purple playstation mascot waiting for his trilogy"
Poor Polygon Man :'(
He was referring to Spyro
Crap, it's almost like I was making a joke :o
Lol
@@zakplex3496 Please get help.
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it and the rest! :)
Proud I could finally support the channel and help make content like this possible. Keep it up Jak, you're kicking ass.
Welcome to Australia kids.
Jak is screaming in your neighbor hood no-stop because he's pissed of of crash nitro cart
Watched all your Spyro reviews and watching your N.Sane I will say I really love your reviews and subscribed
only one problem I have with this review, a missing quote from your channel that always cracks me up:
LIKE CRASH THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
What a nice way to spend my friday nigth
This is the most fair and well thought out review of seen of this game so far, great video mate. Looking forward to the Spyro Remaster review whenever that game gets made.
Thanks dude, glad you enjoyed it!
Cheers. I like my wumpa smoothies thicc and pasty. X]
I prefer mine with pulp.
Hot or cold?
Dax 😂🤣
Didn't realise you had a longer video like this planned! Great fucking work Jak
Cheers Pete.
I think you've covered this remake the best ("Crash Bandicoot has become Dark Souls"? Really?), and honestly, when it came to talking time trails for Crash 1 & 2, I was half-expecting you to fit in the "Like Crash 3" gag from your Wrath of Cortex review, but I do have some issues with the game, and be warned, long wall of text ahead:
The hitboxes do feel a bit off, in the second gate level in Crash 1, I got killed by one of the fires, despite a visible gap, and with some jumps, I sometimes either undershoot or land but because I wasn't on the platform proper, I'd slide off and die.
I don't really like how they kept the original challenge of having the "No Dying" rule for coloured gems in Crash 1, since it seems stupid to change it for clear gems, but keep it for coloured gems.,
Having relics optional in 1 & 2 is good move, even if some times for gold and platinums in all 3 games do feel a bit unreasonable to me, since it feels like Crash/Coco need jet engines in their asses along with the Crash Dash, I could only ever get gold relics in Crash 3, where in Crash 1 and 2, I've managed to get platinum relics.
Haha cheers mate.
you know what? i would love a new crash bandicoot game, twinsanity style (or a finished crash twinsanity)
or hell even crash 2 or 3 style but completely new, based on the level desing and mechanics of the old ones but still being a new game, something like dark souls 3 being a lot like 1 but improving on previous issues and just being a good game.
Wow, that fast? Impressive Jack, nice work mate
Hopefully we will get a new Crash Game IMO.
In your opinion???
Whoop well have a CTR Remaster
I got 100% in Crash 1 & Crash 2 on the N. Sane Trilogy. Still working on Crash 3 though
I thought you would give Crash 2 a score of 4 or 5 according to what you said about it. The score of 7 was a surprise for me.
They changed the jumping from the original. So it seems a bit harder in some areas.
Did you see a picture of Nathan Drake in the crash 3 intro or was it just me
Spyro the Dragon thats cool. I never noticed that
This is the longest review you ever MADE
Yeah dude, new record!
Am I the only one who feels like, because the N. Sane Trilogy improved the controls in the first game, that Slippery Climb is more fun now that it feels fair? In fact, it's one of my favorite levels. But yes, the music sucks.
Once you know how to do it, Slippery Climb is easy and more enjoyable in the original too, for the record.
Slippery Climb can be hard at first, but honestly, it's quite a easy level. Now Bullshit in the Dark, that level can buck off.
omg ikr, that level sucks so much, and I can't stand it.
Certainly dude, but yeah those jumps are tough in spots.
Cheers dude, I've got some things coming up I'm really excited about so hopefully people enjoy them! :)
Cheers dude, I've got some things coming up I'm really excited about so hopefully people enjoy them! :)
I can't wait for the next Crash trilogy Review (in another 20 years LOL) (re-remade) Imagine that!
yo NOT ONLY IS CRASH BACK, BUT SQUARE EYED JAK IS BACK!
SLAM THAT LIKE AND SHARE THIS ORGASMIC VIDEO,YA FUCKS!
Jack you are literally my favorite reviewer!
I really hope VV would patch all the tiny little fuck ups and then it would be a 10 in my eyes
I want to know what characters people like the most in the N. Sane trilogy.
I like Uka Uka and Tiny c:
I really like Tiny in crash 3. I feel like when he shreds the metal wall, it is less powerful and not as brutal in the original crash 2 but i guess that's just my pet peev. Uku Uku's game over in 3 is complete shit but is still an ok character. X]
i like dingodile and n.gin
That really is a shame, sorry you haven't gotten everything you wanted out of it.
I'll get over it I'm sure.
No, Heaven. Haven is a holiday resort - and a shit one at that.
I platinumed Crash 1 yesterday. So happy.
i plated all of them :P
Good job dude, congrats. :]
now all we need is a CTR remaster/remake with added race tracks and bonus character like Spyro. make it possible VV
Fan-freaking-tastic review Jak. I expect nothing less from you. You did a fantastic job at balancing the positive/negative aspects of the trilogy and were very fair to them. I can't wait to see what you do next! :)
Thanks man!
Enjoying these remasters. Crash 2 is my favorite.
good job jak! took the word right outta my mouth, i felt exactly the same way and you worded it way better than what i could ever have, cheers for another great video
Crash 1 is easy in this version, you say? I'm stuck on The High Road. It's pretty much unplayable. I tried it in the original version, and while the level is hard, it was doable. They've changed the jumping mechanics for Crash 1
I'm really impressed with the amount of thought and time you put into this review. You certainly made today, a great fucking day Jak!
Always try to be as thorough as possible, cheers!
10:02 Stay there m8 ill go find help XDDD I laughed so hard
Literally the only review on this game that doesn't bitch about difficulty, great review!!
Thanks.
Hopefully they remake CTR too :P
PS- What game capture do you use? I'm looking at recording some gameplay for certain games but aren't sure what would be a good one.
6:21 You're the only person I've heard who actually praises the controls
That's because regardless of hit boxes and weight changes, they're still a massive improvement for the first game.
lol another nostalgia fanboy that bitches about the newer controls. Get good scrub. While the jumping mechanics are different from the original, they do make the games more challenging since you have to actually try to time your jumps right unlike the originals where you can easily zoom past everything.
@@slayer4932 I prefer the new controls too but he never bitched about anything, looks like you're just trying to sling around your tiney e-peen
@@slayer4932 bruh new controls are shit. Slipping off of a flat platform? How is that a good thing or logical in any way.
Love the channel man i didnt know u still made videos u disappeared from my home page for months. Whered u get those crash toys that are in packages. What are they from?
I love your stuff Jak, some of the greatest shit I've seen in years.
Cheers! :D
Honestly I prefer Polars controls in N Sane Trilogy as the original felt to tight and especially on those last three boxes could be a bitch so having better Horizontal movement is nice.
The Ice physics In this game are N.SANE!
all puns aside they did f**** up Crash 2's ice physics
I know! I got like, 24 game overs on Snow Go because of it!
Dingleberry64
funny enough I would say...
The wrath of cortex had the best ice physics
Meh second best in my Opinion I like crash 2 (Original) the best
1. Crash 2
2. Wrath of cortex
3. Twinsanity
But the ice physics in the original were already fucked
King Harkinian It's worse on N. Sane Crash 2 because of the wonky momentum system.
Great review, I love this "fully remaster from the ground up", VV make a good job and now I hope CTR and Bash remake (CTR has more chances, I know)
PS: There is a possibility to you make a Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale review?
I think Vicarious Visions have made a lot of fans very happy, plus it's a great entry for newcomers to the series :D
the dingodile line does add tension. so did ngin when he says prepare to die crash. that was soo chilling
The honesty at the beginning had me in stitches ahahahaah, always a pleasure never a chore when watching your videos Jak!
I enjoy all your videos man😍
Really good, and fair review of this.
