I love challenge runs of games and I appreciate channels and people that spend countless hours and endure so much frustration to play a game in unique ways and take the time and to document and share their journey. Cheers!
7:30 So funny thing, you can go behind the wall there, you just need to jump on the gap there at the right, saving all that pain and suffering. I don't remember if there are boxes back there, but I think there aren't.
Bless you getting through Sunset Villa, it's not doing it box less that's the hard part, it's doing it without dying. Everyone who went for the green gem can empathize how long and annoying that level is. XD Also shoutouts to the final level beating it in "2 HOURS" and still getting the sapphire relic. XD
2:07 you can break a single box under the 10-wumpa-jumping-crate by spinning from a distance and jump on the bouncy crate and get to the other side w/one box broken
I love Crash Bandicoot to death and finally I'm seeing challenge runs pop up here and there, fantastic work! The one thing I hate is that the game doesn't REALLY allow itself to that many challenges, so we'll never have the variety we have for example for the Soulsborne games
With triple burners on the Native Fortress, there is a small gap in the palisade which you can use to wait. Also, on sky bridge levels, it's better to use the left rope.
Re: the bridge level hitboxes. IIRC, in n.sane trilogy crash's hitbox was changed to a pill shape, which is why he slips off the ropes so easily! in the originals his hitbox was cuboid, and in beta versions of n.sane trilogy they actually did use a cuboid hitbox for crash. Why they changed it to a pill is anyone's guess. if you've ever clipped or slipped off of the edge of ledges or platforms or bounced off of nitro crates without them blowing up? it's because of the hitbox shape. :)
Knowing how they handle level rendering FAR worse than they do the originals (they basically load the entire level at once instead of taking advantage of the limited camera to only load areas around Crash to save a bit of time), I have a strong feeling the rounded hitbox is a matter of them subdividing the collision cube around Crash and not realizing with hitboxes, that's the opposite of what you want to do since the player never sees that and usually invisible mechanics are supposed to secretly aid the player, like making a dangerous enemy have a slightly smaller hurtbox so you always "jump past them" even though Crash's shoes just graze the spikes. I would've imagined they did it for the bridge levels to prevent cheesing them, but changing Crash's to make him more slippery is an odd choice.
@@MarioMastarTo my knowledge, the pill shape collider is a generic shape seen in basically every 3D game engine. Quite a lot of games use this same shape as a stand-in for player collision
For the stack of boxes in Generator Room, you can abuse coyote time to jump around the stack. Meaning generator room can be done without boxes. I have a video or two of me actually doing it that I can show. Also, Stormy Ascent is possible without boxes.
@@xlaiden I don't blame you...that game is hard enough to beat period, let alone without dying (which the game espects as the Nsane medal requires you to beat the whole level 100% with one life. Fortuantely you can take your time though, but that was never the hard part.... those levels are LOOOOOOOONG and brutal. Though IIRC you are allowed to die in the bonus rooms and still get it thank god.) Kind of reminded of the stage in the ancient china area where you have to beat the stage with 0 boxes broken for the blue gem and it's in a long and difficult level.
Near 3 minutes in, and could tell he wasn't trying as hard as he could. He could have only sacrificed one box not two (the aku mask) then jumped over the others.
Eh, I wouldn't count the boulder chase boxes cause Crash isn't the one breaking them. Same case for the TNT in the Koala Kong boss But not for the ones in the Ripper Roo boss which sadly would need to be broken. Even though there's no box counter and these aren't normal boxes, Crash is still physically breaking something that's like boxes there. I'd count those 3
@@HazmanFTW Hello! I actually cut a lot of this level out for time. There is a tiny ‘lip’ that hangs under the door frame that you can’t get past. Even if you break a box and stand on the remaining 2, it wasn’t possible to walk forward as you bump your head on the door frame. If you find a way to do it though, let me know!
The Great Hall doesn't have a single box because it's a bonus level after you get all clear gems you unlock an alternative cutscene involving Crash's girlfriend

I just watched your videos yesterday for the first time and this poped up right after you uploaded, Really cool series man.
I do enjoy these crash bandicoot videos. Lots of nostalgia of watching my little brother play.
Another great video, hope to see more can you beat type vids for crash bandicoot or other games.
Love this trilogy, love the video! Great work!
Me knowing you get hit with a box every time you end a lev-... you cheekie silly i hear you defined what a box break is lol
I love it

great job! you had some very clever ideas like with heavy machinery
Great Video man! Yeah the great hall is the hardest lvl 😂
I can beatbox more than breakbox lul! Jokes aside, this seemed like a good challenge video! Well played man.

I have followed this series closely, awesome work! Love the dedication to leaving no stone unturned even when doing a blind run. #45degreestrat :)
Cool vid and challenge idea man 😊
Just 5 boxes were destroyed by you, that's really impressive!

Most underrated TH-camr ever.
I’m sure Crash did not enjoy this challenge from having all these unbroken boxes come crashing down on him at the end of each level.
Truly amazing dude rip your eyes tho
the concussion challenge!

loved this series, wrath of cortex next? lol
I don’t know why this enticed me… but it did.
I was so worry about the Great Hall level
Great video, love your dedication in completing the dark levels! Is Stormy Ascent possible? and will you be attempting Crash 4 next?
Thanks! The thought of Crash 4 scares me. The final level of Crash 4 requires a level of perfection that I don’t think I’d ever be able to obtain.

Fumbling in the dark, fun fact bandicoots are nocturnal crash could easily see where his going in the dark sadly the human eye can't adapt.
This was completely N.Sane :)

Well done man, you did great. The trick you use to get a single box in a pile later on, can't you use that early on the stacked version?
Guys i'll be honest. That guy is very underrated.
now speedrun this %headache

So no is the answer?
Now do all the bonus levels
On Jungle Rollers you probably could have broken the top box on the bouncy box and jump on the bouncy box once not breaking it.

If you do get to crash bandicoot 4 it’s about time less box run I’m curious about how you’ll be able to pull this off
Also, if anyone is trying to do the dark levels w/o boxes, just max out settings like brightness and such and save yourself a ton of trouble....
I would do this in the original game. The physics on this game are crap.
Beat it probably just cant save tawna😅
the answer is no
Spoiler 😆
Using analogue for a platformer from the 90s is the worst. Dpad all the way, same with tomb raider 1-3 Remastered

Not hating but why do you speak in poem?
Tdyu gringo
Not done on original game.
Waste of time.
And yet you watched/commented.
Native Fortress has the background catwalks that bypass the top section obstacles completely
