I've been using the Mix Fold 2 since it came out in August. As a long time foldable fan (my previous phones were the Samsung Fold 2 and before that the Fold 1) it is by far the best foldable I've owned. It's biggest strength is the form factor and that's why we buy foldables in the first place. The formfactor can genuinely make you forget you're holding a foldable when it's closed, but it opens up into somehow a far more manageable tablet when you need it to.
The camera, as best I can describe it, tries very hard to make each photo a "photograph". Rather than attempting to capture each photo as true to life as possible, it attempts to turn you into a Leica weilding photographer who is attempting to create art. Sometimes the results can be a little strange, but under the right circumstances the results can be truly impressive.
Lastly, my one warning for anyone concerned. I have definitely noticed some battery degredation ALREADY after owning the phone for around 3 months or so. It's nothing major but it's enough to be a little concerned. When I first got the phone it was very difficult to get the battery down close to 0 in a day of use no matter how hard I tried. Now it tends get down in the teens every so often under what I would consider regular usage.
Oh, also no Android Auto is also worth mentioning.
Despite that, I love the phone and will definitely be keeping it at least until (fingers crossed) a Pixel fold gets announced.

    • @auliamate
      @auliamate ปีที่แล้ว

Same! Flex Mode to me would likely never be used, and the camera is capable for one who prefers to bring a dedicated camera if he plans to take pictures. And selfies? No thanks, the cover display exists, and I can just use the back ones. Even the software is reasonably ready aside from miniscule changes to the power management systems, giving the icons a circular look, and possibly merging the notification shade and quick settings into one thing (or adopting the default mix of both from Android 13 stock and just giving it a Xiaomi design).

Until global competition they certainly are not. If they were they would of done the fold 4 better and wouldn't make it basically a fold 3 but 4% better. Oppo might release a folding phone globally but it's not the find n it's a flip phone like the z flip.

@@armondcooper1548 It is quite thick. I couldn't deal with the skinny aspect ratio on the outer screen, though. Instead of having one screen that's the perfect size 98% of the time on a normal phone, you have one screen that's almost always too big and one screen that's almost always too small on that thing. I find it amazing how in 2023 and there's still no direct competitor to this phone. You get a regular phone with all the bells and whistles (sd card, headphone jack, wireless charging, fast charging, hi-fi audio, good screen, great camera for pics and video, "luxury" design with metal and glass) then if you want to multitask (or in my case edit audio files) boom slap the second screen and it's a mini laptop almost. Really wish they made a foldable in this form factor that had an inside screen better suited for watching videos/movies. I hate having massive black bars above and below any kind of media 😕

Xiaomi showcased a foldable that folds in 2 places to make 1/3rd of itself as the cover display. You can find the video on Xiaomi's official twitter. That makes the perfect screen to watch movies when unfolded.

I think the sweet spot for foldable smartphones is the Oppo Find N2. It gives the bigger display of foldable smartphones when it is unfolded and is compact when folded.

As a Samsung Fold user, I love the Xiomi's wide and thin hardware. Unfortunately, I find Xiomi's UI vastly inferior to that of Samsung's. The ideal foldable would be a mix between Xiomi's hardware and Samsung's software.

If omitting the selfie camera will provide room for a thinner phone body then that a lost we're willing to deal with to enjoy another level of luxury. Selfie camera can be sacrifice. Plus getting a bigger battery via the normal wide screen in the fold state is most desired. Xiaomi mix fold folding state screen is very impressive for me.

As someone who doesn't take video calls, not having a camera on the inner display is a bonus for me. Not having to deal with a hole punch, notch, or less dense set of pixels is always nice. "But you stop notici..." No, YOU stop noticing the camera cutout, I do not. I hyperfixate on it. If my old Motorola One Hyper supported 5G, i'd still be using it because it has a motorized selfie cam that's never once failed in 3 years of ownership. Foldables already inherently solve the issue of selfies with the cover screen. I don't need a dedicated subpar screen interruption (and yes, i wish the cover screen didn't have one either)

Ive been looking for a foldable since they gotten way better and not in that kind of niche category anymore. Im using a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra today im extremly happy with it but i want a foldable for the the future. And it seems its heading towards where i want them to be and everytime i see a new foldable im like, i hope this one will meet my expectations but always fall short.
    Heres my dream foldable:
The size just like this or even wider when its not folded
The best camera system that you can have. Just like the highend S22 Ultra.
Well optimized UI for the when folded and unfolded just like fold 4
I want it to be like the Ultra phones but in a foldable format.
They are close but not there yet it feels like.

I wish I could trust to buy another Xiaomi phone, last one I had was the Mi9 and the only reason I stopped using it, was because my a carrier AT&T suddenly, and without reason, decided that the IMEI of Xiaomi phones were not on their "Approved List" of supported devices, simply told me my device was not compatible with their network and would deactivate my phone every 20 minutes or so. Nothing about the Mi9 was incompatible, it supported AT&T bands, everything worked great, until they forcefully disabled it. They won't listen to you when you call in, you'll never get to speak to anyone who knows anything, and it's just a circular argument over and over that it's just simply not supported.

I think Americans would be surprised that it's really not that hard to order an imported phone even with a warranty and just use it with a mint mobile SIM card. Giztop, for instance. Some hassles involved? Sure but better than an ugly crease and a compromised front screen probably.

I just wish Chinese Xiaomi phones come with Widevine L1 for Netflix, but afaik, they don't. And global version MIUI sometimes fall behind the Chinese counterpart in terms of stability and features, so if this launch globally, probably the software is a bit different.

3:12 and there's a third reason of the glow-up: Xiaomi's hinge design also doesn't have to do what Samsung does for extra utility, which means: no Flex Mode. I bet it's such easier to create the hinge mechanism that way and stay thinner.

You’d probably regret it. The few times I’ve tried a different brand of phone I ended up running back to Samsung. I’m on a Pixel 7 right now, and strongly considering running back to my S22U again. Over the past 6 years I’ve come to accept the quirks that come with Samsung. In comparison, it makes the Pixel’s shortcomings look much greater than they actually are, maybe.

@@d3vastat0r89 It so funny for the people's in the usa because you guys don't get much with other brands like we do in Asia and Europe. Every time I tried to switch to a new samsung phone and every time I regret it, nothing but problems with battery draining and non-sense useless functions. Now I am happily using a xiaomi 12s ultra.
