    Since it is Xiaomi's second fold phone and Samsung has released their 4th, it seems that Xiaomi is doing pretty well, considering that they did start 2 years late. If given enough time, both companies could make outstanding foldables.

      Lol it’s not a scam, it makes perfect economic sense. It’s just that since majority of us have so many charging bricks accrued from changing smartphones frequently, it just doesn’t make sense for companies to throw in another one in the box.
      Do note that this trend doesn’t extend to iPads and MacBooks.
      If this was in 2010, people would definitely riot given how smartphones are still taking off.
      But now in 2022, most of us have smartphones. Why would we need a new charger given how they can pretty much last forever?

      If you are interested, Huawei made a flip smartphone months ago: The P50 Pocket. There is also the limited edition design with the futuristic (as in avant garde style)designer Iris Van Herpen.
      I have been wanting to buy this one maybe in a couple of other months now. The price is high but not obnoxious considering the average price tag of any major smartphone (Even if not Apple or Samsung) so it's "normal".

I have various devices, both on Android, Windows and Apple systems, but really, I haven't found anything that can provide me with efficient workflow besides Apple. Which is the stopping factor for me when using a phone, computer or tablet, because I study and work a lot. I can only see foldables as a good alternative for leisure, and it works wonders for that (especially being able to multitask with a bigger screen), but the premium that's charged for buying a foldable just doesn't justify the leisure factor.

      @ethancarey7476 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not gimmicky, it's game changing if you consume a lot of media/multitask/etc on your phone. Shit, just having a much bigger display to zoom in with makes everything from viewing/editing pictures to checking out close ups of products you're about to buy (and much more) just that much easier and efficient. If you don't think the trade offs are worth it, fair enough. But to say it's a gimmick, as in people just want to play with something that folds, is probably not accurate in most cases. It's the reason I have like 2-3 tablets and multiple laptops at any one time. There's just always a device that does something better (no perfect device syndrome). With modern day smart phones, we've never really had a choice because all slab phones essentially do the same thing. Some bigger or slightly smaller but none really crossing over into the tablet space where you start to invalidate the need for something like an ipad mini

    So basically what Xiaomi did is try to add/remove what Samsung added/removed without actually taking into consideration the consequences of adding/removing such a thing. Look at the hinge for example, they made is smaller in exchange for it being sturdier and more protected. Overall I think Samsung has more experience when it comes to building a folding phone

    I like that the Fold 4 is more narrow when folded, that's the point, it "one-handable". Then when you want a big screen you unfold and thre it is! I think making the phone that big when folded defeats the purpose

  • @fingerfive5643

    z Fold 4 is better than Xiaomi Mix Fold 2
    Water proof
    Longer Battery
    Better Speaker
    Better Camera
    Better OS Update (Major update support for 4 years)
    better hinge(durability, Flex mode)
    S pen Support
    thinner bezel
    wireless charging
    inner screen camera
    Local support (repair, inquiry, etc.)
    Xiaomi is better than Z fold 4
    Bigger screen, faster charging speed, thin thicknesst that's all.
    Some people say the Xiaomi mix fold 2 is cheaper than z fold 4, that's the domestic price in China.

    I've bought 2 Xiaomi phones in the past year, both of which I had to send back. They are good looking phones with a very customisable user interface full of features yet it's the very thing that lets the phones down. MIUI is glitchy and unreliable. I had an 11t which would randomly go into a stop/start charging frenzy whilst charging, woke me up in the middle of the night because of the charging confirmation sound it was making. The camera wasn't very good, night mode was non existent and video quality was grainy and stuttery when panning. Apps crashed here and there. Sound wasn't consistent as I kept having to switch the Dolby Atmos toggle off and on to get the volume back to normal level.
    Then I got the Xiaomi 12, which was a gorgeous little phone with a promising spec. The camera was good being the Sony IMX766 sensor. Video was good but let down slightly by over saturation of skin tones. Panning was great and daylight photos were decent with good detail and colour. Night mode was grainy compared to a Google pixel 6 where the latter excells. Coming to sound which is tuned by Harmon Kardon is good. There is decent volume which doesn't sound tinny with a nice amount of bass. The phone does get very loud once you set the equaliser to custom and dial everything up.
    All that said and done however there are a couple of downsides. This phone is also let down by the user interface. It's quick but again glitchy. Video playback on TH-cam and Instagram stuttered here and there and at one point the sound went out of sync on a Mrwhosetheboss's phone review, which was odd as I thought it was the video but it didn't happen when I replayed the same clip. Apps crashed a few times. The phone also heated up way too much even when not in use.
    Xiaomi needs to fix MIUI and if it does then I won't hesitate to buy another phone.

      Yeah same thing I don't know if you believe me but I watched a video on companies phones and that main offshore phones are actually basically the same if better than main brand phones in the recent years and that a phone doesn't have a big brand slapped onto it to be good ibs there still bads ones but major ones are pretty good and budget friendly

    • @reziee5897
      @reziee5897 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      they make it wider but in reality they're doing is just a smartphone not really a foldabl. Still the software optimization, build quality, features, and IPX8 rating is in Samsung's Foldable.

    The soft screen is what put me really off when I tried the z fold once in a store. I don't know if it is something that will ever be able to be fixed but it's just weird feeling like i'm touching soft plastic instead of a glass screen, it feels like it's going to be damaged if I press it with even a mild force. The dip right over the seam is also very off putting, and in this video I can see that is still a very big problem in this model as well.

    Xiaomi does this thing where they're split down the middle of offering insane bang for the buck budget killers (like redmi and poco) but also taking shots at samsung with offerings that are always marginally better on paper but in practice have some caveats that may not make them worth pursuing for a flagship experience. I do appreciate that the R&D that goes into these "flex on samsung" phones trickles down to their cheap lineup, but i don't think i would ever buy a flagship from them.
