@@darrenheadrick3669 Andy and Bobby definitely were much more equals and like brothers. I liked his subsequent partners of Danny and Junior but the dynamic between them and Andy was much more father/son.
One of the incredible things about NYPD Blue is that the show lost its lead character after a single season and not only is the show able to recover but in fact improve over the next 5 seasons.

I just finished with season 6 episode where Bobby dies. How I long for the day I was at this episode in this video. Bobby and Andy were like a well oiled machine, trying to watch Sorensen in S6 is making me wanna throw up
I've always wanted to know why Dennis Franz didn't move up to getting the first billing in the opening credits after Caruso left. They put Jimmy Smits first instead.
Because at the time, nobody thought that an older, fat, and let's face it, not great looking actor could carry a show. They thought that they needed good looking young actors (Caruso and Smits - over from L.A. Law TV show) to keep the boat afloat, so they got top billing. LOL, I think they lacked faith in the writing for the show. Still who would have thought that someone that looks like Dennis Franz could carry a show thru good writing, good story, character development and fantastic acting? Dennis Franz and the show won awards due to all of those factors, but our friend Andy was carrying most of that weight. But, that's Hollywood for ya. It took them a while to come around to the idea that it's CHARACTER that wins the day (and audience), and not just some hot young actor(s).
According to the late Steven Bochco in an interview Milch saw the crazy 🤪 straight away in one of the first meetings with Caruso. He said no don't do this to me. I know crazy he's crazy. Bochco said he saw the train wreck instantly. But let's face it he made that first season. It was strange to see a main character come back and do season 2 and leave after 4 episodes. I believe Smits was first choice for John Kelly 🤔
Hi, I’m Bobby Simone. I’m a fantasy character with no background and no faults. I will exhibit no growth of any kind and will forever be practically perfect in every way. I will even return in a later series episode as an actual angel.
That loser was incredibly strong, if he held off Fancy while tossing Sipowicz across the room (which never happened elsewhere), and then it took Fancy AND Simone to overpower him. He was way stronger than he looked. Like a Chimpanzee or something.
The number of times people pulled guns inside the squadroom seems awfully high. For that matter, the number of times *cops* pulled guns on each other inside the squadroom seems awfully high.
I love and miss these old shows! This is before the new generation started taking over. Now its all safe-space, pronouns, rainbows and me me me. I liked the old world better!! 😔
Good for the TV show and probably was the way things were back then. Now, nobody but NOBODY should go to the back of a cop station without going through a metal detector. Too many nut cases like this drunk out there with guns. I'm a really pro second amendment guy. GOA member and TFA in my home state of TN, but I'll just as quickly point out that there are a lot of people out there who should never have a gun.
The sad part about this is both Smits and later Schroeder quit the show based on the insanity behind the scenes and of course Caruso was forced out. And this scene reminds us all how insane that squad room was. How much violence, shootings and deaths occurred there in 12 years?
Just a little F you from Bochco/Milch to Caruso, having Simone cross out Kelly's name on the locker.
🤣
I’m fine with the FU, first season is trash, Carusos overacting is absurd, glad he’s gone, this is where the show actually starts.

Yeah... from what I read David Caruso was difficult to work with on the set.
And so begins one of the greatest TV friendships of all time...
@David Milito
I believe it went beyond friendship. For me Andy and Bobby were brothers, not of blood, but of heart and soul.
Which episode was it Bobby on patrol with a shady cop? It gets to the point he asked Fancy to reassign him.
🏆🏆🏆
Andy and Bobby partnership evolved into one of friendship and brotherhood
@@darrenheadrick3669 Andy and Bobby definitely were much more equals and like brothers. I liked his subsequent partners of Danny and Junior but the dynamic between them and Andy was much more father/son.
And so the legendary partnership & friendship of Andy Sipowicz & Bobby Simone begins 😊
Two of the best characters (and actors) to see a television series.
Sipowicz and Simone.
Andy and Bobby first meet in the locker room. Andy's last conversation with Bobby's ghost in the final season was in the locker room.
...and so beings another beautiful friendship.
I love the fact that he runs into fancys office", it's not gonna work out "
"His attitude's all wrong. Asking me how I'm doing."
"He asked you how you were doing?"
Andy could be such an idiot at times.
"He asked how you were doing" LMAO Andy cracks me up typical
And he even didn’t ask him how you doing. Just introduced himself
This isn't going to work out. LMAO
Fun times at the 15th squad!
This began the golden era of the show
One of the incredible things about NYPD Blue is that the show lost its lead character after a single season and not only is the show able to recover but in fact improve over the next 5 seasons.
Welcome to the squad. Nice way to meet everyone.
"He asked you how you were doing?" Ha ha! Subtle Fancy.
Only way it might have been better is if he would have said: Dear God! With a feigned shock and appalled expression.😂
And with a gruff " Yah, " Andy begins a bond with Bobby that will change him in so many ways. Simone and the glasses will both give Andy a new outlook!
"How ya doin?", this type of thing.
Thus begins the golden era of this great show.
As much as I missed David Caruso, Jimmy Smits was the best thing to happen to NYPD Blue.
When I was a kid, I felt bad for Fancy for being named Fancy. Now that I'm a grown man, I kill to be able to pick up my phone and say: Yea, Fancy.😂
Arthur Fancy
Sipowics and Simone were the best of the show
How you doing.......what nerve!! Classic Sipowicz! I love when Bobby crosses out Kelly's name, it's perfect and classic NYPD Blue!
Shots being fired in a Precinct house, makes Cops start swarming and lose their shit, like someone hitting an Angry Hornets nest with a large stick!!

Ha, Bobby really crossed the line by asking how are doing. The chemistry between Andy and Bobby is unreal
Jimmy Smits was great in LA Law and he was even better in NYPD Blue.
Bobby's death was THE saddest scene in TV history.
That's 4 years later

By the way, "the two-seven" precinct is the one from Law & Order. :)
Did NYPD ever reference the 20th? That would have been Barney Miller.
They mention the 2-7 in blue bloods too. Lol
Bobby Simone was the best. Made me a Jimmy Smits fan forever
Andy was channeling his inner Norman Buntz until he met the filing cabinet.

Bobby is handling the business from jump!!!

I've always wondered that myself. Smits career was no bigger than Franz at this point either.
Good question.

Yes, it wasn't until Smits left and was replaced by Rick Schroder that Dennis Franz got top billing. Too bad.
@@MoneyMakingMitchNY it was. L.A. Law won a bunch of awards.

Bobby Simone is an Arthurian knight, uncorrupted and incorruptible.
Nothing wrong with that.
Now that you mention it, he is a bit one dimensional.
His background was revealed in a timely fashion, and he was not perfect. Perhaps this quality of show is not for the likes of you.
Asking a guy how he's doing on your first day on a new squad? That's just out of line. You don't do that. This guy Simone, the nerve on him.
Poor Andy had to get readers too and break in another partner all on the same day.
Bobby!!! Layeth the smackdown!
Bobby was a way better character than John Kelly.
Not better just different

'Crazy' doubles physical strength.
Wow. There would be 500 pages of paperwork to fill out and eight hours of interviews besides court time!
What episode was it where Bobby works with another cop who shady? It’s gets to the point he ask the Lieutenant not be around him?
I think at some point it was mentioned that Simone had been the mayors or commissioners driver for a stint.. Andy didn’t think highly of that position
Wish i coulda seen this from start to fin...!
Series, i mean!
And Andy had to start wearing Readers on this very day
In Bobby's defense, he never actually asked Andy how he was doing.
The number of times people pulled guns inside the squadroom seems awfully high. For that matter, the number of times *cops* pulled guns on each other inside the squadroom seems awfully high.
IRL Medavoy would've been forced to retire early over the incident with the perp that pulled a gun on Andy in the interrogation room. colossal mistake
Fancy should have given Andy a choice, work with Bobby or Jimmy.
Bobby IS Jimmy (Smits).
How do I buy a season of NYPD Blue? Anyone?
K mart, wall mart…. ? Online….?
I purchased the DVDs on Amazon.
Medavoy and Martinez were a little slow there - no urge to help Fancy as he wrestles a guy with a gun?
Medavoy was useless under any serious circumstances and James was too green in the squad to react.

Poor writing. They deliberately created an implausible situation just to have the new character look like a hero.

Caruso thought he could pull a Bruce Willis, and leave a TV show to become a big movie star. That didn't happen. Caruso bombed.
