His gun jammed, so he couldn’t really shoot himself even if he wanted to. It’s the reason he stopped shooting at the windows and ran away in the first place. He realized he couldn’t fire anymore, and realized shooting through the windows wasn’t working, so he just dropped his gun there and ran out.
Rospierski, Beigel, Lippel, Pollack and Wang were all heroes on that 3rd floor. I can’t imagine the guilt Rospierski must’ve felt knowing several of his students were murdered whilst escaping with him, especially Guttenburg who was so close to escaping and laid dead in the stairwell with him whilst the gunman tried to get in
I’m not judging the survivors, bc most of us would do the same and they didn’t have many options, but I feel a sense of abandonment for most of the hallway deaths. Like the kid who left Joaquin after he said he couldn’t run. And all those left behind as the teacher and uninjured students ran for the stairs. All the people who couldn’t get into locked rooms to hide. Truly distressing.
@@thereisnocarolinHR It is difficult to asses heroism in these situations, also you must look at it logically. Going back could endanger yourself further as you attempt to rescue somebody, especially if the person you are trying to save is injured and can’t move, making the rescue attempt hard to complete. In your selfless attempt to rescue someone who is hurt, you could inadvertently end up being a casualty in addition to the person you are trying to save versus not saving them and they would be the only casualty. You should always evaluate your own safety before aiding others, especially in an active shooter scenario where time is of essence. Additionally, if you are protecting a group, temporarily leaving them to save a straggler could expose the now open group to more danger. You need to also evaluate the group’s safety over one person’s. There is no right answer, but keeping a sane and level head in these scenarios is key in order to balance logically right and morally right decisions to see the best case scenario. It’s also prudent to mention, that in these scenarios, people’s survival instincts are turned on, making rational decision making hard to snap into. Also these were children, most children still do not have the adult “protect the young” instinct turned on, which is why you saw several teachers die, as they defended the students to their death.
Sadly people like Joaquín or Meadow were already shot multiple times, Meadow knew she was going to die and tried to save Cara, Joaquin couldn't run, and maybe the boy thought he was already dead

Dwight DeVille well maybe but i dont know maybe he was scared to continue with them i know that he tried to enter the bathroom but it was locked. So sad 😔
Some information about it from a report: Oliver was shot in the knee when the shooter initially fired down the hall. He tried to hide in the women’s bathroom, and then the men’s bathroom, but found both doors were locked due to issues with students vaping before. He hid in the men’s bathroom alcove with injured survivor Kyle Laman According to Laman “I asked Joaquin if he could run and he said he didn’t think so,” said Kyle, 15. The majority of the students in the hallway turned to run down the West end stairs. The shooter fired at the fleeing group. After they had left, the shooter shot those still left in the third floor hallway. Joaquin “ended up trapped in the hallway with Nikolas Cruz with no safe space he could get to,” a spokesman for his family said. Oliver was the furthest down the hall, and was then the last one shot. He was hit multiple times again in the right leg. Then once in the abdomen, and one time again in the head, which killed him. Witnesses heard him crying and praying and asking for his mom. Cruz walked up to him and subsequently shot him several times before finishing him off with a single shot to the head. Witnesses say he was shot "10 times" in the right leg
Would've been nice if you at least shown the shooters face prior to going into detail of what happened. Maybe even showing the victims as well who knows.
It's possible Peter was shot while running. The report said he was feet away from the door. Articles I saw reported that eyewitnesses said he was holding the door.

Basically if you look at his actual death picture he's a few feet from the door - poor guy never made it. His autopsy also showed he was running when shot. Ironically if he held the door open he would have survived because the door opens in - so he'd be out of the shooter's sight. What likely happened is people saw his body next to an open door and assumed he was shot while opening it. You can kinda see why in his death picture.
The shooting was two floors down, so they might have thought it was just someone tipping something over, because it was muffled by the distance between the floors
They could hear the shots, but it wasn’t that clear until he got to the second floor. So people just followed the fire drill procedures, because they weren’t really sure what was going in initially. And if everyone else on the floor is doing it, group thought sort of takes over. By the time it was clearly gunshots, not everybody had enough time to get back to the classrooms.
They were attempting to enter the room, but rospierski couldnt unlock it, so they ran for the end of the hall (which was best since they’d ALL have been killed in the stayed in the alcove)

No. The pause between :59 to 1:20 wasn’t actually 20 seconds, the narrator was just explaining what was happening. In reality, he shot everyone in the hallway, then shot into classroom 1214 within a couple seconds. So there was still confusion going on and people didn’t know where to go.

I believe that by the time he was shooting on the second floor, students on the third floor or in the stairwell were already noticing there was a shooter.

When fight or flight is triggered it’s hard for most people to be moral
alexangel alexangel You’re absolutely right. I’m not trying to judge the survivors, just acknowledge the suffering the victims went through
@@thereisnocarolinHR It is difficult to asses heroism in these situations, also you must look at it logically.

He probably wanted to do something similar to Columbine, when Eric Harris told Brooks Brown to leave the school. It's also probably because he wanted to take the people in the hallway by surprise, and shooting someone in the stairwell would alert them.

Dwight DeVille well maybe but i dont know maybe he was scared to continue with them i know that he tried to enter the bathroom but it was locked. So sad 😔
Some information about it from a report:
Oliver was shot in the knee when the shooter initially fired down the hall. He tried to hide in the women’s bathroom, and then the men’s bathroom, but found both doors were locked due to issues with students vaping before. He hid in the men’s bathroom alcove with injured survivor Kyle Laman
According to Laman
“I asked Joaquin if he could run and he said he didn’t think so,” said Kyle, 15.

This animation shows this more. Go to about 3:45.
3rd floor treated it as a fire alarm?? did they NOT hear someone shooting? It’s kinda loud shooting in close quarters.
Why im watching this? Now im so depressed, what kind off disgusting human you need to be to do something like that?
3:04 this makes no sense, they stayed in the hallway, then somehow all piled at a door? then ran again?
They were attempting to enter the room, but rospierski couldnt unlock it, so they ran for the end of the hall (which was best since they’d ALL have been killed in the stayed in the alcove)

The only thing I don’t get is that if he shot on second floor the kids on the third would have all been in the class not hallways I don’t get it
I believe that by the time he was shooting on the second floor, students on the third floor or in the stairwell were already noticing there was a shooter. But, it takes a decent amount of time to get something like 10 classrooms worth of students to turn around and go back to their classrooms. So, when the shooter enters the third floor, most students have returned to their classrooms, but some still haven't.
