Hey!! Totally deserved, your video is great, so I just tried to give another approach ! I'm going actually to use it this week on a restaurant shoot :)))

Valeu a força e vamo q vamo!
Achei boa comentários a confirmação.
Happy it was useful !! It will, and around the discussion panel there has been a lot of people chatting about which FTP server works best ! Not sure right now there would be any better option, could try to do a video about it !
I just got a macbook and would love to know how to do it also :D I'll run tests about this and how to connect on a different place without connecting to the network there :D Thanks for commenting and giving these ideas!
Hi dear! For the webcam you still need the cable, but they upgraded the connection so that now you can pass on the audio also. I have a video about it too, take a look on the video section! :)))
Hi again, many thanks for helping me with my IP address problems. If you are looking for an idea for a new video, can I suggest the following. Myself and many others want to use a Sony camera with ftp facilities to send images automatically to a Iphone and/or an Ipad. I need to create a Hotspot on my phone when there is no local wifi available. Creating the Hotspot is easy and connecting the camera to that Hotspot allows ftp to work similar to your video. However, next time I create a Hotspot in another location the IP address has changed. Its important that the Hotspot IP address never changes so I don't have to keep changing the camera ftp settings, which ruins the whole idea of ftp. Fancy making a new video to make this all work efficiently? A lot of people would be most grateful.
This is an awesome idea for a video! I already did a quick research here about it, and there doesn't seem to be a very simple solution. Looks like you'd need administrative power on the phone to change some code to do it. But I'll dig deeper because this is probably a doubt for many people! Thanks for the suggestion Mike!
Great tutorial! But this is too complicated cause we are in 2021 :( is there no other way like a Sony software that could sync the camera and the computer/phone automatically?
Totally agree with you! It should be something wayyyy simpler than this, but so far this is the way to do it with Lightroom. I hope in the future they add support for wireless tethering directly on Lightroom, in a ad hoc way, in which the camera connects directly to the computer. As soon as it comes out, I'm onto it with a video :D Thanks for watching dear !!
Ohhhh what is incompatible ? Lightroom you mean ? I think in the latest update they included support for the M1 chip ! Do you have the most up to date version ?!
Many people in the comments were asking the same, for a Filezilla alternative. The rest of the setup should be the same, regarding the camera and Lightroom.

Hi FlyEnri- Great video thank you. Two questions: 1. Can you keep triggering your camera? Or do you have to wait for it to load to the computer before taking your next shot? 2. Can it be configured to load to your camera SD card as well? Thanks for any answers you can provide.
Hi Stephen !! Yeah, you can keep shooting, the FPT symbol will be on, showing it's uploading the next shots. Loading the SD card you mean to manually send a file over to your computer ? I couldn't find a way, but for that you can use the Imaging Edge I guess... THanks for watching dear !!
Wireless FTP transfer IS NOT a NEW thing with the Sony A7III !!!! This feature been there since day one, I still don't believe all this hype! You don't need any firmware update to use the FTP features on the Sony A7III in order to do wireless tethering. I been using the A7III since 2018 and been using wireless FTP tethering since, it's an out of the box feature! What firmware 4.0 did was to add additional configuration/functions to this feature. Apart from that detail, great video!
Hi Alexis!! Thanks for telling us that, i had sincerely never used it before! But could you already transfer automatically while shooting, as to emulate the tethering or was it a transfer option afterwards to share the files? Thanks for watching !!
Hi @@FlyEnri you're welcome! FTP setup was the same thing as what you have with latest firmware, but you only had 3 custom FTP sites to configure and not all the bells and whistles from latest firmware. You selected a folder to write on the FTP root and then it would automatically transfer the images during shooting. You configured Lightroom or Capture One to read from that same folder and there you had it, wireless tethering!

Fantastic video, can you make a similar one for the Mac. I can't get the router to stop changing the IP address so it won't work every time. Can you help?
Hi Mike! The fixed IP address and the router config shouldn't have anything to do with being a Mac or Windows. If you tell me the model of your router I can try to take a look into the manual and tell you how to go from there. But in theory, all you gotta do is find the DHCP configuration on your manual, check the MAC address of your computer and be sure that it is set to fixed on the router. If you search for these keywords (DHCP, MAC Address, Fixed IP Address) I'm sure you'll find how to do it on your specific model of router :) Tell me if you got any trouble doing it and I'll give you a hand! Hi dear!! I was trying to find the manual but actually found this forum here: community.ee.co.uk/ I couldn't precisely pin point the answer to your question yet, but they have resident forum assistants that can give you precise instructions on how it works on your specific model. I think probably it's worth a shot ! Just answering your last question there, yeah, the lease time is how long an IP address is blocked for a specific device. Next time it reconnects, if a whole day has passed, it will renegotiate the address, and might get the same, or not.
Hi Mansur !! Ahhh I think i've tried also in the past and couldn't figure it out. It always moves the file over to another folder. What you wanted to do ?
Hi Mohammad ! I linked another video in mine to a friends channel in which he teaches exactly this, how to set up the FTP server on the phone to receive the files. The idea is the same, the server will receive the connection from the camera and the files will be there. It won't work, you need the correct wifi settings on camera, meaning the ip address of the FTP server and how to connect to it. On another network these will change, but the overall settings are the same. You'll need to adjust ip addresses and wifi password on camera.
Thanks for the tutorial! I am able to write the image to the folder via FTP but Lightroom won't auto import it. Interestingly, when I manually upload a photo to the same folder, Lightroom is able to auto import it. Any clue on the issue?
Hi, i came from another video and have now also some question on this one. If i change configuration to static ip and later on i gonna use my vpn for secure browsing on internet. Does it mean , that vpn not gonna work anymore? Thanks
Hi Stanislav!! It shouldn't affect your VPN at all. The address that will be fixed is internal in your home network, and the vpn is a secure channel or tunnel, between you and the provider you chose. They get to know the external address of your router, which in an analogy would be your street and building, but when any communication arrives at your home, is your router that knows where to deliver it to, like which room exactly you're in.
I have a question, my Camera connected to the FTP server and everything is fine. It created the Folder on my laptop, but the problem is, when I take a Picture, it does not send the Picture to the FTP Server. Only to my SD Card. How do I change that?
Hi Kelly!! Check if this setting is active, it tells the camera to send the files over to the FTP server as soon as you take them: helpguide.sony.net/di/ftp/v1/en/contents/TP0002043783.html
I really want this, but I often go on location and want to do tethering there. Is there an easier way to avoid all this through wifi and possibly use Bluetooth direct to my laptop? I won't be able to get into other routers while on location.
Hi Lisa!! It's a very good question, I tried connecting directly ad hoc to the notebook and it didn't work. But now thinking maybe it's possible through the phone as a routing device... It would definitely be way more practical if we didn't depend on the network in the destination. I'll run some tests and let you know if I find out a way!
@@FlyEnri Hey, this is exactly my question. Getting ready to head out on location for a project and can't rely on Wifi to connect. Third party systems are out as I need to keep the hotshoe free for strobes. Any luck with this?
How can I do it on mac os? I tried to do it with the info I got here.. But I tried and it failed the connection, I also don't know how to configure the path to a folder, it looks sooo different on mac os.,,
This firmware is only for the A7iii for now dear! For the others you'll need to use a cable with Imaging Edge software, and the auto import from lightroom you can use.
I've used EyeFi to transfer files and I liked the option where I could mark a file by setting the Protect attribute on the image and EyeFi would only send the images that I had thus marked. Is there a similar capability using Sony's native FTP transfer? I don't want to send everything - I want to review in-camera first, and then only send the "good" ones over to the server. Any chance of that?
Hi dear !! If you use Imaging Edge than the files are stored through it on a folder, so you can skip all the ftp config and go directly to the lightroom part ! :D But the imaging edge is a bit, very, clunky.... :p
Now,I can connect to my Mac with another computer via SFTP protocol with 22port.But cannot connect with SonyA7iii. Mac also cannot connect with another computer if I use FTP protocol.Does that mean my Mac didn't't turn on FTP server?
Great job thank you FlyEnri! I got all the way to taking the photo and then fileZilla reports..."550 Permission Denied" the file seems like it is transfering but then it never gets through to the folder tho the folder is recognized by the FileZilla program. Any ideas?
Hi Kevin! When you choose the folder inside Filezilla Server there are the options of permissions you'll give the user. You have to assign the Write permission, otherwise no file can be created. Check if there's a tik on that and tell me if it worked, otherwise we can dig deeper by pasting the log here and so on! Good luck dear !
Yeah, it's true! They try to keep some features to some lines of cameras, but specially this one so focused on photography should be on the R line.... Thanks for watching dear !
This is for the A7III firmware update, but Lightroom just released an update that allows to do it natively ! Unfortunately I don't see the A7RIII in the list, it starts from the A7RIV, but you can try, who knows ! I've got a video on the channel already about it :D
Hi Andrick!! hmmm you followed the guide, set the access point as your filezilla server computer IP address and it's still saying that ? Do you see something arriving to the administration console ? Hi. I have established a network connection between my computer and camera. Filezilla Server shows that the camera is logging into it, but the data transfer is 0 bytes. I turned off the firewall, but it didn't change anything. Do you have any idea what this is about?

@@FlyEnri thank you
I have a question, my Camera connected to the FTP server and everything is fine.
But I tried and it failed the connection, I also don't know how to configure the path to a folder, it looks sooo different on mac os.,,
Hi !! I've recently got a Macbook also and still haven't tried this, I'll do a follow up video for Mac! Be sure to subscribe and it will come soon!
will this work for other Sony cameras? like the a6500
This firmware is only for the A7iii for now dear!
Using this technique it's automatic, so right after you shoot, it's going to be sent. I couldn't find any other solution to prevent it.
@@FlyEnrithank you. I think I'll stick with EyeFi for now (even though the company is long since dead, the cards are still working).
Grande Daniel!! Ainda nao fui ae, acredita ?! Valeu por assistir, maneirissimo! Saluti di Bologna!
Is it work also with image mobile edge for PC?
Hi dear !! If you use Imaging Edge than the files are stored through it on a folder, so you can skip all the ftp config and go directly to the lightroom part ! :D But the imaging edge is a bit, very, clunky.... :p
Hi..There isa problem of finding local host.Do I need to create a host for that? note:I'm using a Mac.
Hi Yan! Which FTP server are you using on the mac ?
@@FlyEnri FileZilla server
Great feature! To bd this came not to the a7R iii because why not? sony still sells and builds those
Yeah, it's true! They try to keep some features to some lines of cameras, but specially this one so focused on photography should be on the R line.... Thanks for watching dear !
Does this work for the A7Riii? The firmware for the A7Riii is actually v.3.01
This is for the A7III firmware update, but Lightroom just released an update that allows to do it natively ! Unfortunately I don't see the A7RIII in the list, it starts from the A7RIV, but you can try, who knows ! I've got a video on the channel already about it :D
Hi, I'm having this message "cannot find connectable access point
set the access point setting." how to solve it? thanks
Hi Andrick!! hmmm you followed the guide, set the access point as your filezilla server computer IP address and it's still saying that ? Do you see something arriving to the administration console ? If not, check the firewall. Disable it and try again. If you see some message on the admin console paste it here and we'll help ya :D
@@FlyEnri Yup, I followed the procedure. this is the message coming from the filezilla. I have added the filezilla also to the firewall

Hi. I have established a network connection between my computer and camera. Filezilla Server shows that the camera is logging into it, but the data transfer is 0 bytes. I turned off the firewall, but it didn't change anything. Do you have any idea what this is about?
It might be the permissions on the folder you created to receive the files! If the login was successful then it's not a firewall or connection problem. Check if the folder has write permission! Tell me if it works :)))
Does anyone know how to find the IP address on Mac OS?
Probably this can help: www.hellotech.com/guide/for/how-to-find-ip-address-on-mac
please make an update the filezila has been updated and i cant follow your instructions
Oh thanks a lot for telling me ! I'll check how it looks now and update this video then! It's the interface or what happened ?
Does this work on MAC?
You need an FTP server running, if that works, then all else will be good !
didn't work at all for me, i'm on windows 11, i followed every step and getting an error message "Failed to connect to an FTP server", any ideas?
Hi Mehdi !! Most probably, if you're not seeing anything on Filezilla Server it's because of the windows firewall ! Please check again the configurations, or simply deactivate it for some seconds and try again. If it works it's confirmed, review the rules about FTP on it. If it doesn't it can be some issue with the settings on camera ! Tell me later if you managed by doing this :D Thanks for watching !
@@FlyEnri actually i figured out how to make it work, it seems that filezilla server 1.2 doesn't like win 11, so i downloaded beta version 0.9.6 and it works great, thanks for the video, that help me a lot 😊
That's awesome!! Thanks for sharing also this solution, maybe other people will have the same trouble!
I'm getting "Could not create a directory on the FTP server" error!
Hi Maaz, probably because of the permission! Check if the folder you created has Write permission ! 99% chance this is the issue.
@@FlyEnri Thank you for your reply. It worked!
anyone getting the battery not compatible error with this new update? even with Sony native batteries?
Hi Jordan! I didn't get any error, but let's see if other folks have something to say about it ! Sony also has some forums but I couldn't find yet your specific problem!
Where is the firmware link?
Hi dear! I didn't include because it could be updated and wouldn't work, but so far here it is: www.sony.com/electronics/support/e-mount-body-ilce-7-series/ilce-7m3/downloads
Fala Enri! Tudo bem? Cara, parece que conectou, mas fica dando erro de conexão depois na hora que vai enviar a foto (Connection Error - Cannot transfer to the FTP server.). O que será que é?
Falaaaa, eae, blz ?!
@@FlyEnri Worked!!! Tks
Topppppp !
Would be great if the transfer speed would't be so damn slow...
Yeah, it's not super fast, it depends if you have a client looking over your shoulder or if you're relaxed in a studio !
My client cannot wait for 20s.
Then only way is using other software, camera, or using this only when you're alone shooting :D
Olá, tudo certo? Aparentemente segui todos os passos (Windows 10): 1) ctrl w/ smartphone off; 2) airplane mode off; 3) usb connection mass storage e usando USB-C.
Valeu e boa sorte!!
Doideira! Mas blz, ta funcionando tà bom!
It's so complicated 🥺 FileZilla server new update looks so different
Ohhh it changed? I'll check and make an update to the description here! Thanks for warning me!
When attempting to initiate the firmware update, it says I need to install a "sony camera driver." Where can that be found?
Hi Lloyd ! Normally this error is because some step was missing in the installation. Maybe you had the camera connected already when you started the updater for example. Try to follow very precisely the link in the description from Sony, it has the step by step written for you to be sure that the software is running correctly.
Ma sei italiano???
Ciao Danilo!!
Complimenti, ciao!
20sec is too slow
Hi dear! Definitely not immediate, really depends on what you're doing I guess. Anyways, if it's a very sensitive work that you need the focus to be just perfect and you don't have the equipment to do it wired, it's better than taking all shots, out with the SD card, copying and checking :D Thanks for watching!
This is so complicated and convoluted it’s not even worth it
Hahahaha I'm really using it actually. It's a bit complicated but after you've done it you don't need to touch anymore 😊
this is like comepletely unecesary, just use the imaging app from sony... I wasted here 4 hours!!!!!
Hi Foxy! They serve different purposes, to manage making it via FTP through to Lightroom, this is the way to go :D
Way too complicated.
It's a tiny bit complicated yes, really depends if you really need that.
Does this work with the Sony A7ii?
The new firmware was for the Sony A7iii only, not sure the a7ii also got it !
