Hey mate, thanks for posting this video, and sorry you had to go through all this. I bought an a7S3 in March 2022, and about a year later I updated to version 2.11. This caused the wi-fi and bluetooth to malfunction. I got my camera repaired in February 2024 under warranty here in Australia, and in the repair notes it said my mainboard got replaced. My repaired camera was sent back to me on 2.11, and the wireless functions are working with no issues right now. I'd love to update to 3.xx, but I've heard so many horror stories - even though theoretically it should work on my camera, because you mentioned that technicians supposedly only replace motherboards with the "newer" version during repair? Either way, Sony should totally own up to this, and you shouldn't have paid a cent to get your camera repaired. I hope your Canon journey goes much more smoothly!
Just sent mine in for repair this week. Barely 2 months old and just stopped working. Good to hear about the repair facility. Sorry to hear about the run around regarding firmware updates.
@TomWadeCine Absolutely. This was my first upgrade to full-frame from my old Lumix g7. Was on the fence between the Alpha series or the S5ii... Loving the image quality with the Sony but definitely fighting back the "second guessing" thoughts right now 😬😆
I also have bluetooth and wifi malfunctioning, it happened after the firmware update .. but i will not send it for update ,its a fantastic camera but also unfortunate what happened.. i am planning to buy new fx6 2 ,when it comes .. made lot of money with this canera .... happy and satisfied
Hi there, I noticed you mentioned that they only upgraded it to 3.01 after the repair, and it sounded like you were going to elaborate on this, but I don't think you did. Are you able to share any insights about why they upgraded to 3.01 and not 3.02 after their repair? Thanks for all your coverage of this, very helpful indeed! Greetings from New Zealand.
Cameras and lenses are merely tools for work. In light of the unfortunate incident you’ve experienced, we understand that we shouldn’t develop emotional attachments to brands, as they won’t be loyal to us either. What truly matters is the creativity and effort we put into our work. Equipment is just an inanimate object. I hope this matter can be left behind, and that you can let go of your frustration and return to your normal life soon.
Sony is probably worried about a general recall issue. I don’t do any updates near new camera launches as you know plan obsolescence is a thing. They should have done more to help customers.
My Sony A7Siii Bluetooth/Wi-fi malfunctioned after the 3.0 update. I contacted Sony three times after that, and they refused to fix it. I am currently using it without those wireless functions. All other functions are working okay. I was very furious after they refused to fix it for free, but I haven't switched yet. Switching involves losses ( I remember when I switched from Canon after the launch of the Sony A7iii. Canon was sleeping at the time but thank God they woke up from their sleep) and I am still examining current industry trends before doing that.
Is your camera is under warranty ? Because I am facing same issue 😭 and my camera is just 10 months lod 🥲 what I do? If it is under warranty, will they repair it for me?
brother, I have left the camera at Sony service center , told me that sir don't worry your camera is under warranty so it will be fixed. Someone said that we will call you when this problem is solved. @@AnishNapper
Should not have cost you a penny if you just did a firmware update. That is SHITTY. They should never have you send a camera without having the parts. Not for nothing the eosr image is not bad... Canon C80 and C400!!! I just got the C400. Great choice. You're gonna love it. Props!!!

luckly most people dont use wifi and bluetooth im having issues with the audio and speaker -_-

Got mine quoted at $900, They havent even check my camera its straight up Board replacement. Feels like being robbed
