      Chrysler mini-vans are great. The rest mini cargo vans you listed were all too small for most businesses, too underpowered for most personal users, and lacked all of the nice features regular passenger mini vans have. The Mercedes Metris (Vigo) probably would have succeeded if it were a Ford or Chevy. The Mercedes badge is off putting to someone who wants a utility vehicle that's cost effective to operate.

    Starting in the 1980's, Mitsubishi marketed their products in a dealer network separate from Chrysler Corporation. Their pickup truck was named the Mighty Max. It was still sold as the Dodge D-50 by Dodge. Sometime in the mid-1980's, a one-ton model was added. This was a long bed (7 foot) model with chassis and axle upgrades to allow for a payload capacity of one metric ton or 2,200 lbs. The Mighty Max was discontinued in 1996 or 97. Mitsubishi was not the only brand to have a metric-ton package option for a small pickup truck. Most of the other small pickups had similar models as well including the Jeep Comanche. The current generation Triton club cab has a 2,400 lb capacity according to an Australian media model revue.

    A Delica would be a hit and could put Mitsubishi as the standard of a true MPV van. The off-road craze is hot and doesn't look like it's losing steam and if they offered a van that can off-road....that market would be theirs to take.
    I agree they should bring a pickup back to the U.S market, and honestly the Triton/L200 would be nice. I know the logistics would be something to overcome since the Triton/L200 does not share anything with the current D40 chassis Nissan Frontier because the new Triton is all Mitsubishi engineered and developed to be used as a global platform which Nissan would use as for the next Navara. The Nissan frontier chassis is only North American designated.
    An off-road Outlander would be nice to offer , but I also though the Ralliart Outlander was some they were planning also with higher output EV motors and be more performance based. I wonder what happened with that plan.
    Either or I am extremely happy Mitsubishi is committing to thrive here....I love the brand.

    I knew that Mitsubishi was onto something, especially after the runaway success of the Outlander. They definitely made a smart move by introducing the Delicia stateside as the imported 25 year old ones are very popular for overlanding and camping. It essentially has created familiarity with the model and will already have fans in the US. And currently, there are very few options for similar outdoorsy vans. Plus, it will be the only Japanese brand to offer such a model in the US. This will definitely help Mitsubishi set themselves apart from the competition and offer something unique, just like how Subaru offers standard AWD on all their cars and Mazda making their vehicles semi-luxury. And of course, it is very exciting to see the other new models they will be releasing soon as well. Well done Mitsubishi!

    Adding a Delica and a truck would be huge, if they were to do it. Also, I do not believe what we call a "1 ton" is the same thing the Japanese manufacturers call a "1 ton".
    I think they should stay as close as possible to the D:X concept, as it looks amazing. Details on a truck have been nebulous, however that would be a game changer here, especially if Mitsubishi were to lean into it's PHEV expertise!
    I realize people often associate the legendary Lancer Evo and other sports cars with Mitsubishi, but the sad reality is, sports cars don't sell in this day and age like they used to. I would love to see the return of a high end Halo vehicle, however I doubt it would be a car.

    The other question one should ask is whether Mitsubishi would remain in the US market at all. Contrary to what others may impress, Mitsubishi is flourishing with its non US global vehicles like the Triton --- kept out of the US market thanks to Chicken Tax --- and recently the Xpander. The latter is an MPV successfully competing against its Toyota equivalents. The further the North American market with its regulations further deviate from the rest of the world, the more costly it is to develop US market vehicles to a point that we are seeing many auto manufacturers are willing to accept zero US presence.

  • @Kemigon

    They need to release a flagship 2 door sports car to stir up hype for the brand. The Eclipse can fill that position and the Mirage can be brought back as a sporty compact sedan that'll compete with the Mazda3, Honda Civic, and Nissan Sentra

  • @kenhoward3512

    'Couldn't care less about the far-fetched features of the concept vehicle; what I'm interested in would be a midsize *van* - not a minivan - with decent power. ICE or hybrid, preferably, not electric or plug-in (with heavy battery packs). For such a vehicle, I'd even consider a Mitsubishi. I'd remove the seats and make it a camper.

      @mrgurulittle7000 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rightwingsafetysquad9872You’re not even close. Only the CMF platform shared with virtually every other Nissan Renault product, is the same as the Rogue. The suspension, engine (apart from the 2.5 L option), body, interior, PHEV system, and transmission are all completely different from the Rogue. Heck, even down to the very CVT is different from the Rogue with the Outlander using the Mitsubishi developed Jatco INVECS CVT, and the Rogue using the Nissan developed Jatco Xtronic CVT.
      The only common parts with the Rogue is the 2.5 L Nissan engine, alliance infotainment system, and platform. THAT IS ALL. Otherwise the Outlander is a completely different car. Between the Rogue and Outlander, there are fewer common parts shared than the average Hyundai and Kia, or VW and Audi. Do your research. Your claim of “all powertrain, frame, and suspension components…body panels are interchangeable” is a FALSE statement.

    Mitsubishi Motors needs to bring in a mid size truck to compete with the Tacoma and their ilk, a mid size sedan to take on the Camry and Accord-and offer a turbo 4 cylinder engine, a luxury sedan to go after the Maxima crowd, and even a full size SUV with a turbo V6 to complete the lineup.
