the history of how ceos(not owners/founders of profitable enterprises! important distinction from the people who ruined hewlett packard to gates and bezos) got to be paid so much money is a story of it's own as it wasn't always so. the logic goes that they'll work better if they get 100 million instead of 10 million, but it comes from consulting companies they paid to tell that to the boards in a niche, but the faulty logic spread out and they'll get paid even if the company is ruined. fact is it doesn't matter beyond the 10 million. it doesn't matter even beyond 2 million. what it does matter for if you pay some dude tens of millions is that their family is set for life after working one year - so it doesn't matter to them how the company does, who gives a f when they got enough money to vacation for the rest of the world might just as well go golfing instead of learning how your own factory works and how it could be better and then excuse it to yourself as "i make big decisions". this is a very important difference to industrialists of the past - and you know what? asia has a lot more of this kind of enterprise still popping up in taiwan, thailand, vietnam and even in china - being an ambitious industrialist in china can be very perilous though! but it's still there that the industrialist often have a dream to make it in the world and they aren't already set for life, they do not live in a world that is "ready".

If a country in the global south dares to try and own its own resources a flurry of terror falls down upon it and countries are subjected to "structural adjustment" where they are forced to privatise national assets (energy, water providers etc) so that US investors can feast off the monopoly and underinvest in it to the point that they are no longer functional. yes I was thinking surely the rich of the USA are to blame for this a lot too - they handed power over to China by wanting to make 10% extra profits by outsourcing to China for cheap labour - they gutted the US economy purely to make themselves richer now everyone will pay the price
Calling the current Chrysler corporation or stelAtlantis an American car company is pretty ridiculous these days. Most of their engines are made in Mexico shipped by rail through the United States to Canada, where the cars are assembled. These are Canadian and Mexican cars not American cars.
I'll take a burrito mobile or a snow Mexican car any day over a Chinese one. Those Mexicans start screwing up quality too much ,it's easy to go have a "chat" with them because they're close by, unlike China.

A humorous poke that strikes pay dirt. We taxed and regulated American industries and made their products more expensive than imports. Then we, the consumer, decided to buy crap and save a buck rather than spend on domestic-made items. And to top it all off, we bellyache about the quality of the crap we are now forced to buy because the good stuff went out of business.

Why wouldn't any country want to mimic the power and control of other countries to access resources? America had for generations been doing this alongside every other colonizing ideal. "Keeping up with the Jones " can be applied to world economics. China was predominately agrarian up to about the 1950s. They got hungry and jealous of the U.S. Who would blame them. America truly has led the way. Guess what, India has more people and is more hungry than China. Africa will have as much interest in enjoying an "American" way of life. You can't stop people from wanting more...no matter where they live.

They could just increase tariffs and then effectively make manufacturing within the US more economically feasible. It would inflate prices but at least it would give additional jobs to US citizens and maybe even make R&D for automation more valuable.

You know what I'd love to see from you, maybe because of your connections in the magazine industry you can find it... 15- 20 years ago there was a story comparing the environmental "cost" of an old but restored 6 cyl Gremlin to a new hybrid. The analysis was focused on total purchase cost and fuel costs. But it also included pollution of all kinds (but back in the day CO2 wasn't yet evil.) The term I learned from that story was "amortization of manufacturing". A restored existing car just needs a few newly manufactured parts, so it wins the pollution challenge hands down. Add in the fact the hybrid gets totally replaced every 10 years, the Gremlin may get a more efficient engine in the future, but even if not, it wins the pollution challenge hands down. On the cost challenge, it's shocking to find out how much cheaper a 25 mpg Gremlin is to operate than a 50 mph hybrid is, when all costs are included: purchase, finance, insurance, etc. The best hope for the future is old guys keeping old cars on the road. (I guess we can agree cities in China and India benefit from electrics, the pollution is transferred out to mines and manufacturing plants). So Tony, keep on saving the world!!
I read an article a few years ago that pointed out that Harley-Davidsons customer base was beginning to age out of the market. Younger people were not buying Harleys. If that's still true, then there is an inherent weakness in the market for them, making them even more vulnerable. It all makes me wish it was easier to just make our own engines.

Yes, we have cobalt. Idaho is home to the only cobalt mine in the U.S. It is called Idaho Cobalt Operations. It is owned by a company called Jervis Global, which is based in Australia. They were supposed to start mining cobalt at the end of 2022, but by March 2023 the mine was shutdown due to the global market price of cobalt suddenly going through the floor. This is par for the course for mining operations in Idaho, for the past two decades. Idaho is rich in minerals (that's why it's called The Gem State), including rare earth minerals, however, every time a mining operation spends boo-koo bucks on a new mine, or refining operation, something causes the global price of whatever mineral they're going for to crash through the floor.
The cheaper Model Y cars (2 wheel drive) use LFP batteries that contain no Cobalt. Half the cars that Tesla make use the LFP chemistry. The Cobalt in batteries is also infinitely recyclable. Battery tech is the next war.

You are 100% correct. BRICS started in the 90s past 2 years they have been making huge trades without Dollars. Belts and roads is a great deal for Countries that have been abused by US, EU and G7. Conservative politicians sold Americans on the idea that economic globalization helping regular Americans, (Less expensive goods) but in reality it made corporate managers and investors richer (Cheaper goods, not less expensive, and higher profit margins). The middle class wealth got transferred to the Elites and now corporations no longer care about consumer dollars but only care about investor dollars. Its why companies today do things that are opposite of what consumers ask for (Disney is a great example), and follow the bidding of large investment money via ESG financing. Investors think EVs are the future (And they are), so car makers drop everything to make EVs. Investors are now putting their money in AI, and now every company is pushing AI. Once there was a fatal accident or two they started cracking down on it. It's been making a comeback the last several years along with cruising. The cops and politicians are doing everything they can to stop it. They put out portable speed bumps on the main drag on the weekends and I think they give tickets if you go up and down the strip so many times. There's random fb groups of guys setting up races, meets, etc. I can't speak on the early days. I was in the car scene in the late 90's. We were cleaning house with fox body mustangs. Cam, 24lb injectors, heads, intakes, gears, 4 cylinder coils and shocks, unhooked front sway bar, ssm lift bars, sticky tires and you could win 95% of races back then. Not familiar with the problems of Dodge and Chrysler, have to research it, but it appears to me they are preparing for the ever more stringent environmental regulations to come. Harley may be facing an issue with demographics. There has been an occasional guest on Coast to Coast, the demographer Kenneth Gronbach. He explained on one appearance that the guy's who traditionally have loyally ridden Harleys are getting older, and are stopping riding and selling their bikes. They are no longer buying new Harleys like they once did. Sales have almost steadily declined from 126K bikes sold in 2019 to just 98K last year. My own brother is in that group. Arthritis and other physical problems have pretty much ended his riding days, so he's selling his full dresser. He only expects to get about half of what it was worth 10 years ago. A decent used Sportster can be had for 3-4K $. This has created a saturated market and lower demand for traditional V-Twin Harleys, lower values for used bikes, and sluggish sales at the dealerships. And as that group continues to age, that problem is only going to get worse. Younger people by and large seem to prefer Japanese rockets, and typically don't make the money to afford a new Harley anyway. Plus, the Millennial group now coming into their peak earning years is far smaller than the baby boomers. So for Harley, It may be a case that they HAVE to change and find a new market, or die.
It's crazy that people can't see that it's simply the result of population and resources decline. I'm a millenial and couldn't care less for Harley bikes or Chrysler. Their lineup is/was garbage. Would I buy a Harley if they produced a lightweight liter bike? Maybe. I've owned quite a few british, german and asian bikes and they are better in any way. There's literally no need to own a 2000lbs 2 litre motorcycle that looks and rides like a brick. Get real man.
@@cosinus_square Currently ride a BMW R1150 rt and have owned and ridden pretty much every make since I started riding. Its the economy! When the going gets tough, the 1st to go are the toys, unfortunately. In regards to Harley being heavy, that may be true but they don't weigh 2000 lbs. They are simply a different yet still very cool riding experience with the sound of the V twin with aftermarket pipes, there is no comparison. I suspect by what you wrote in your comment, you've never ridden or owned one, same for experiencing a 6.4 Liter Dodge Challenger that puts out 485hp and handles well both in the 1/4 mile or on a race track. Also, Harley Davidson has smaller models such as the Street Rod 750 cc, the Street 500 cc V-Twin (2014-020) and now the new X350 already out in China and Australia. They just don't do well here in the US because once you've ridden larger displacement bikes that put out 60-170 hp, nobody wants them. A street bike with 30 hp isn't as exciting or fun to ride and are mostly just for straight commuting. As for trucks, I always drove Ford but some of the previous trucks Dodge offered that have the Hemi V8 or a Cummins diesel can't be beat and have a history of motor longevity of over half a million miles or more! I'm not advocating for any particular brand but when someone says that Harley and Dodge lineup is garbage, I know differently and have to defend it. They just got out of hand with their pricing as very few can afford to pay $100k for a vehicle UNLESS the economy is doing well.
@@robmcguckin7605 Harley cool? Please. I live in UK and there's a Harley dealer less than 3 miles away from my house, I'm well aware of their lineup, if there's one brand I have always test ridden with no intention to buy, it's Harley. But you're right, nobody wants them over here either. A cool bike is a Street Triple R, RSV4 or a Super Duke 1290. Over the 1150RT I'd rather ride a VFR1200, inline 4's are all the same o I'm not so much interested in them. The exotic stuff like Ducati or Kawasaki H2, or BMW 1000RR's you're asking to be robbed if you ride one in London, there's no nice way to say it. Would really love another KTM RC8, at some point. Unfortunately I've never driven any Hemi because we don't get those over here. I did own a C63 (w204) about 10 years ago, when they were not so rare and an Audi S5 4.2L. UK is doing it's best to keep the average Joe far away from big power cars, always has. As far as diesels go, a milion mile 1.9 litre TDI's are all over the place and these are 2L engines, not 6L. Also seen more 2016-2020 Toyota 1.6 diesels with 6-700.000 miles, than I can count, they are really loved by the taxi/uber crowd.

the history of how ceos(not owners/founders of profitable enterprises! important distinction from the people who ruined hewlett packard to gates and bezos) got to be paid so much money is a story of it's own as it wasn't always so. the logic goes that they'll work better if they get 100 million instead of 10 million, but it comes from consulting companies they paid to tell that to the boards in a niche, but the faulty logic spread out and they'll get paid even if the company is ruined.
fact is it doesn't matter beyond the 10 million. it doesn't matter even beyond 2 million. what it does matter for if you pay some dude tens of millions is that their family is set for life after working one year - so it doesn't matter to them how the company does, who gives a f when they got enough money to vacation for the rest of the world might just as well go golfing instead of learning how your own factory works and how it could be better and then excuse it to yourself as "i make big decisions". this is a very important difference to industrialists of the past - and you know what? asia has a lot more of this kind of enterprise still popping up in taiwan, thailand, vietnam and even in china - being an ambitious industrialist in china can be very perilous though! but it's still there that the industrialist often have a dream to make it in the world and they aren't already set for life, they do not live in a world that is "ready".

Why? These companies no longer make anything of interest to hot rodders. Just because they did 60+ years ago doesn't mean they and their computerized TRASH is of any value now. American auto manufacturers died in the '70s, when the government took them over. Invest your money in '70s and older cars. They are the only thing of value left of these once great companies.
No you don't, because you and your closest million friends will never, ever have that kind of money. What you need to do is start a new company, and then -- this is the important part now -- *keep it "private"*. Do not incorporate. Ever.

Here in Canada I can honestly say Uncle Tony is correct China based companies have bought farm land and forest land in the western provinces and have been growing their own crops and shipping it back to their country completely cutting middle men for at least 10 years now. Along with other manufacturing plants.
The only good thing I can see about foreign ownership of land, farms etc, is that they can't exactly box it up and take back with them. If we make them leave someday it will still be here.

Alot of these issues with HD, John Deere, and Tractor Supply are due to the ESG and DEI policies of Blackrock. I really don't think there is any other reason.

It is true that EVs probably won't gain more traction than ICE because they just aren't as convenient and cost effective as ICE, but that's only if we look at the situation as it currently is. The government will make sure that ICE is no longer better than EVs by pricing operation of an ICE vehicle out of the market compared to EV. They are already doing it!
You are 100% correct. BRICS started in the 90s past 2 years they have been making huge trades without Dollars. Belts and roads is a great deal for Countries that have been abused by US, EU and G7.
In America money buys policy and policy controls money and business. In China policy controls the money and that's it. China has gone to free market capitalism under the tight control of the leaders and they seem to focus on preventing and stopping corruption in their systems.
USA is the exact opposite. Want to grow a business in China, kill the competition in America through American policy.
Anyone thinking China is weak, their military is weak etc is lying to themselves. I've been watching China since Jeremy Clarkson said " China is buying all the Lambos, Mercedes, Rolls Royce, etc". The past 5 years China seems to have turned into a paradise. I actually want to visit and vacation there.
America at best will stay stagnant as it has for the past 20 years. Other countries are about to flourish and leave the US in the dust.

The point of this is we live in a new economy where consumers are no longer a major part of the supply and demand dichotomy.
A whole lot of us would love to be able to buy up Chrysler and make it a 100% American made product again.

And who could afford to buy a 100% American product ? Of course, the 'Land of the free' government could force you to do so, or through tariffs coerce you. But without competition there would be no innovation. America would fall behind like they did in the 70's
I'm a big fan of your channel! It'd be nice if you could do a video about how hot rodding and street racing in the USA have been changing over the years, I'm from Brazil, and I've always wondered how it was back then right there in the USA. Thank you so much. You're an encyclopedia. God bless you!
Street Racing and Hot Rodding is a complete joke compared to what it was in 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Still had a little gas left into the late 80’s but really started to completely change in the 90’s.
In my area (north central ohio) it seemed like the fast &furious ruined street racing at the time.every teenager with his moms civic thought he was a race car driver. Before that, the police basically left the spot alone. Guys were trailering cars in to run. The kids with moms civic and sport bike guys started causing accidents. That's a pretty mild build honestly. I'm curious how well it would do on the streets these days. I'm currently putting together a 98 mustang with a 5.3. Basically a junkyard build.
@@aaadamt964 That’s why I stopped street racing. Trailer your race car and call it a street race or are we prepping the street. Prep for a street race is learn how to drive. An I have NEVER EVER lost on the street to anything from Honda. But I do appreciate all the Honda owners that paid my car payments.

Facts this is 100 percent true America has already lost the war.
All empires eventually crumble. And, throughout history, they have risen and fell through physical might. People have finally learned that the pen is truely mightier than the sword. So our empire has slowly been been taken away through years and years of business practices and regulation. Us, Americans ,for decades, have been too busy arguing between ourselves. When the time comes that we finally put aside our differences to unite together, it'll be too late for us to protect ourselves.
All Empires fail because they have to become evil to achieve Empires status. The American Empire surely did. And
it will collapse because of it's criminal nature, endless corruption, and the well earned hatred it has earned worldwide.
Not to mention it's use of fake money that always collapses because of simple math.

Million Dollar Bogan disagrees with your comment.
