I know what it is lmao but I listen to MCR not underoath (that one MV of theirs with the kids kissing kinda really put me off). It's honestly kinda hard of a genre to define. Like oh is this post hardcore or just fancier punk? Is this post hardcore or slightly watered down metalcore? Usually I differentiate it by the fact that metalcore often uses big soundscapes and wide sounding screams, but if you have a lack of it it's a bit harder at least that's what I believe.
Post hardcore and metalcore to new peeps is just breakdowns non stop with the odd pop chorus. I dunno why they turned it into that when they were the same peeps who grew up with these bands
@@DisturbedVette 90s post hardcore is a just math rock. Early '00 post hardcore can be defined by two types - mall emo like MCR, the Used, 2004's underoath or other sounding like Keepsake's album from 98 (pop screamo in simple words) or prog rock with scream vocals (those like thursday, saosin, dgd or of machines). Metalcore is a just swedish melodeath with breakdowns in 00 (then it became just breakdowns with breakdowns with pop vocals and synth), and prog metal with breakdowns in 10.
@@arthurasatrian9044 always wanted to hear something that has that math rock kinda feel with that emotive hardcore style with a touch of metal. And yeah I agree, I’ve started saying that post hardcore is either math-punk rock or emo metal. That’s funny that you mention Thursday also, I have “understanding in a car crash” playing in my head rn
Dude, what the hell? Are you hacked into my spotify? Did we hang out around 2003? I don't even have an Alexa in my house. How are you doing this? I'll subscribe, but I'm clearing my cookies afterwards. Fantastic nostalgic choice of bands and songs! 10/10
Have been for awhile man! But haha glad you liked the picks. Can be hard to make picks for these types of videos cause everyone always likes dif riffs but i tried to include what i believe are the noteworthy bands of the genre! Thanks for the comment!:)
Hey, first of thank you so much for taking the time to view my stuff. I grew up watching your videos as a young musician that strived to be half as good as you. The fact that you took the time to watch my stuff means the world to me, made my day man. Thank you so much for the kind words and keep up the amazing work. Cant wait for your content in the future and i hope your back for good, TH-cam needs you my dude.
Great choices bud! However, you forgot to include Funeral For a Friend :b Their album "Welcome Home Armageddon" has some of the greatest post-hardcore riffs

You’re so right man at the drive-in literally influenced everyone of these bands. Will for sure include them next time, more just focussed on the third generation vans of the early 2000s in this one!! Thanks for watching!! :)
@@cameronfarrellguitar perhaps Poison the Well? and maybe early Coheed and Cambria, early Senses Fail too are also a good choice. Metalcore + Pop-Punk = Post Hardcore
I'm 34 and I still love it. With love from Russia, Saint-Petersburg.
You warm my heart by even knowing what "Post Hardcore" is. These new kids think it's something completely different.
