    Lyrics: Equus
    Our fields alight
    Is this a dream?
    Glowing inferno
    Reborn, red dawn
    Searing, auric chariot
With karmic wheels, they burn again
    The karmic wheels, turning again
    Life devoured
The ruin, the blackened, these skinless halls
Bones laid bare, the bones of all
    The garden deafened
    To emerald’s end
    Breathing synergy
Wild winds away - to glorify
    Through the ashen haze
    Reborn, black gaze
    Searing, auric chariot
With karmic wheels, they turn again
    The karmic wheels, burning again
    Flame-kissed manеs
    Winds cascading dawn
    Of Boudica born
The earthen canvas, rivеrs of scars
    Coursing, hooves beating, breathless
    Forgotten forever
    Burning again, burning again
    Burning again, burning again
    Her name is Mother...
Mother - And hell follows with Her
From ashen cities, grey auras, behold her pale horses
Framed by hell and veiled from heaven - this Pandemonium
Tears upon scorched dreams, pouring into chasms that seethe
Tidings tolled, too late, drowning as the shadows unfold

    Lana Del Rey
    Running - wild resistance
Bearing - the weight of the world
Rearing from the ghosts of the past
Dancing in clouds, dressage to the nameless dead
Echoed cries cast into the air
Inhaling the spirit of rein and ruin
    All the rage
    Exhaling what remains of reason
    And this misery
    All these memories
    Fleeing - dying
    Are these memories all dreams?
    All these memories
    Fear and pain, all...
    Never to be free
    All these memories
    Fade away
Eyes closed to the sun, the sun
    Lost in tears of silence

The mix between the clean and harsh vocals are one of the characterics of the band. They also sing different lyrics. Every part of this is amazing. The bass is awesome and carries the melody in some part. The harmony between the violin and the harsh vocals were just incredible.

That was outstanding. Absolutely outstanding. I was riveted from start to finish. FYI, ‘equus’ means “horse” in Latin.

      @RiannaQueen ปีที่แล้ว +4

The horse stands for all innocent animals who suffer from human cruelty and human made catastrophes (I think that's how Xen explained it).💔🐎

Equus (ek-woos) is the Latin word for horse, hence 'equestrian'. I loved the song, especially Tim's clean vocals and Xen's harsh. To have two guys doing vocals like this is unique in my experience. The violin sections were outstanding too. Needless to say, these guys sound absolutely awesome live. It's a mystical experience ! Did I mention they're an Australian band. Cheers guys.

This band requires you to be patient and listen to their song more than once to comprehend its excellence (except "Forget Not" that in the first listen I was mesmerized and thought that it was a Masterpiece), but even by listen to this song more than twice there's certain parts that didnt captivated me, one thing that you guys said was the bass, in general it was really good, but when it became more proeminent in the song it felt like "oh! They are giving space to their bass player to show that he can play well" and not something like "Oh! So cool! The way that they composed this part really fits the song!", and the other thing its that the drums, and especially the guitars, are way behind in the mix compared to the other instruments/vocals, but i think this is a nitpick thing. Anyway, there's one thing that shined in the end, that its the vocals, especially Tim, that improved so much since the last record, holy sh*t! The emotions that he transmited through some parts gived chills. Well, i give this song a 8.5/10, normally i would rate 9/10, but im giving space to the other songs that are going to coming from this album, that can surpass this one but arent a "Forget Not level".

I checked out this song before listening to it again with you guys and the song is much better the 2nd time :) As a rule of thumb, any 12 minute long song requires multiples listens. I loved the bass BTW :)

I can't even imagine someone criticizing this song. It's phenomenal 10/10 perfect song. Keeping the listener engaged throughout 12 minutes is some serious talent tho!
Not much prog metal bands can do that. I won't be surprised if this song end up as my SOTY since the end of 2022 is just few weeks away.

Just to your comment in your review about "black face"..if you had read the description about the video clip from the band here in TH-cam, you would have seen that the female dancer is representing a scorched mother earth...you should save your judgement and actually read everything that the band has written about this work of art, about a very pertinent subject; namely climate change and the worsening climate events that are occurring all over the world..this masterpiece of music is about the bushfires/forest fires that occurred in Australia in 2019/2020..you would do well to look up the lyrics of this musical work of art and feel the power of the lyrics..lecture over.

Your son is 100% right here, the harsh vocals are garbage on this track and the way they are pushed into the back makes them sound as bad as Lars snare on st.anger... the song is just to long and boring, there is a bridge section before the solo where they just repeat the same riff over and over and over and it goes on to long... I absolutely love this band but I wish they trim the fat and write more concise and in your face music as it would be way more powerful!

Xen, the harsh vocalist, definitely seems to take too much of a back seat role in this one. I agree that they should have used him better - adding a bit more drama to the song as he most certainly does on songs like Intra Venus and on And Plague Flowers the Kaleidescope.
