Man the guitar solo in this was wicked, every time I heard this song I'm excited to get to that part. Their guitar player never disappoints me in terms of solos, always soo on point.

"Equus" is phonetically pronounced ek-wuse. It is Latin for "horse". "Exul" you guys pronounced fine. It is the stem of the word "exult" or "exultate".

You kind of nailed the song's theme. In particular, it's about the wildfires that hit australia in 2019-2020 and the lives that have been lost there. Song feels like a funeral and a moment of mourning and grieving and anger for those lives (represented by the horse, equus)
Re: lenght of song, i can see what your saying and that's a very popular opinion, especially since 12 minutes is a lot for a single. To me, though, the lenght feels right as it's supposed to drag a bit long since it's a funeral/collective mourning, and maybe there was no sense in shortening a song that would have been always "too long" for current standards. A 9 minutes "radio kinda-friendly" version could have been done but imho it would have killed the mood and the long buildup of the song, i am not sure a shorter song could be as strong. Also, i think by cutting parts you could reasonably shorten maybe a minute or two, but then it becomes really difficult to cut parts. Personally I'm sure NeO tried to address this but somehow they ended up keeping the full song, I'm inclined to trust their judgement
Listening to this band is just a different experience. This track is one of the best things I've heard this year. Just incredible! It's about the Australia brushfires. (EDIT) I've been revisiting their albums lately. They're one of the BEST prog bands in the last 20 years. Guys, consider checking out their debut "Portal of I". It's fantastic.

It is also a warning that the world we live in is changing from the damage we as a species have contributed to. Within this video, the dancer represents a scorched Mother Earth, from horror to humanity, ever in tune with the heart and flow of the song (and world), and ultimately aware of the inevitable and ever growing destructive cycle we are in."
