I'd like to see a steel/ground regional form that's more physically inclined and swaps out the spoons for a shovel (it gets moves like bone rush cause its a grave digger)
If only the elemental fangs had the power of at least the elemental punches. Preferably I'd like the punches and the fangs to have only slightly less power than the Thunderbolts/Ice Beams/Flamethrowers
The production value of that opener where Alakazam uses the elemental punches only to be thwarted by ttar was legitimately a masterpiece. How it synced with the narrative was 10/10
Zam also has a niche as a mon that can easily knock off Blissey, which is a more consistent way of crippling it than trick, so it can be used as a kind of early-game special wallbreaker
I remember running max hp, max defence bold Alakazam back in 2005! With Psychic-Recover-Knock Off-Toxic, in a TSS stalI team. In hindsight, it would have been better to replace Toxic with Encore, and tweak its special attack to make the Dugtrio matchup favourable… but at the time I was pretty bad with EV and I didn’t do calcs 😎
i really liked the real game examples/analysis. it's one thing to see a pokemon's potential in simulated scenarios, but it's a whole lot cooler seein em truly in action :o
I agree, I wasn't a big fan of including live matches in these analysis videos, as they hurt how easily consumable yet interesting they were being bite sized, but including and dissecting real previous examples flows better and allows the pacing to stay more fluid and controlled which is where I personally think he shines
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Aides put out an Iron Mugulis video, and now seeing it get acknowledged by Mr Cool is fantastic. Great channel that really deserves the attention. This is the crossover we needed to see.
It fits Alakazam nicely. Despite not being the most powerful threat, it still managed to carve out niches in Gen 2 and 3 with Encore and fast speed, being a crafty underdog armed with 5000 IQ and outsmarting OU teams full of juggernauts.
Something that wasn't added, lum berry is a great item for zam since synchro will pass it to them, and now you have no status, while they do. If they tried to paralyze you, and you are runnining sub, now you can bait para of your own, trap them into blanking t wave with encore and proceed to smack things with your 2 coverage moves.
I think anyone who's been playing for some years is going to see an Alakazam and assume it may just be Trick until proven otherwise. Alakazam not being used more almost essentially boils down to Tyranitar and Blissey being common; trying to build a team around it will feel like more trouble than it's worth, even though theoretically you'd just need to bring a Dugtrio.
Really loved the use of competitive battles where alakazam got used, in future analysis videos you should definitely use this as well. Would love to see more gen 3 content again, keep it up Jim!
I really like Crobat too! I very frequently use it while playing through the Pokemon games thanks to its good typing, decent Attack stat, high Speed, and early evolution. The fact that something so menacing evolves via friendship makes me think that Crobat has a kind heart.
Not to brag, but I am also contributing to the lore of iron McGillis by making a playlist called iron mugulis lore with all of the major happenings in the timeline. 🤓
when i first started gen 3 ou i foolishly decided to build with alakazam coz i didn't understand the meta whatsoever, but i actually had a decent amount of success with it. the main way i used it was as a fast, bulky lead with lum, calm mind, psychic, fire punch and hp grass. you have to switch out or die against ttar or metagross, but everything else you just calm mind up then chunk them significantly and get a free status on them, and if you're not an idiot like i was it pairs extremely well with dugtrio like jim said
Mr Cool is back! Very interasting video. I ve seen a lot of CB+Trick Zam, but I agree that's a Bad strag, but it can win games because... plot issues (I Guess). Any Encore Zam team that You can share in a future ladder vídeo?
Honestly surprised you didn't also make this about its extremely impressive rise in Gen 2 OU lately, where it does the same thing except Tyranitar coming in isn't as big of a deal due to no special abilities. Alakazam basically overtook Espeon's entire niche (minus Baton Pass stuff) in the tier and it's now seen as a legitimate (even if niche) threat. As for my favorite Gen 3 UUBL Pokemon, Blaziken takes it and I think it's extremely underrated by today's usual consensus opinions, but Sceptile also gets nowhere near enough love for being able to bully Swampert, Blissey (with SubSeed), and Starmie (though it can't switch into their Ice Beams unless it's at full health, and even that is still risking a crit or freeze) while having its choice of HP Ice or HP Fire to kill the OU Dragons or threaten Spikes setters.
petition for elemental punches to be 80 base power special moves and evenly distributed among mons who can throw hands and elemental fangs be a physical counter part with 80 bp and similar case for distribution......
Gen 3 Beat Up is weird. It says its Dark in the Pokedex but its actually typeless. Beat Up will deal typeless Physical damage taking into account your attack and the attack of all your healthy teammates (not fainted or statused), and the enemys defense. It ignores EVs and Nature when doing damage, which is why it does massive damage to Blissey who has very low base defense
i associate alakazam with gen 1 more than anything :P in rby ou, its very high speed and special stat make it a common lead. it also has stab psychic and recover which can pressure a lot of different mons
Honestly guys, I don't think Iron Mugulis would even exist if it weren't for Alakazam and its dual spoons. After all, do you think a big, angry cup of tea would just stir itself? And does just anyone carry the two spoons necessary to complete the task? Highly unlikely. In addition, Alakazam is renowned for its extreme brainpower and telekinetic abilities, and it could certainly stay relevant in a future paradox world as the sole remaining organic life form. It could even use its Future Sight attack to stay one step ahead of the law. I'm just saying.
Encore in gen 3 lasts from 2 to 6 turns making it very unreliable to use. You encore, it repeats, you switch out, it repeats, and now the encore effect could already have ended... with 8 pp you don't even have the option to go for pp stall, especially against mons with pressure..
Playing Pokémon sacred gold rom and my rivals alakazam ran through my team. Only survived on 2 hp with magneton Btw does anyone know how to evolve trade mons in this game ( I want gengar and alakazam)
You should tell ur audience about sand attack ninjask and how it formed its niche in the meta! it will be funny and the adv ou peolpe will love it! (they dont like getting spammed by sand attack ninjask) it will be great for the audience to know how ninjask has survived all these BP bans
Porygon2 fills a unique role in Gen 3 that nothing else can. Click below to learn the Exciting reasons why.

Honestly alakazam should have a regional form with forks instead
I'd like to see a steel/ground regional form that's more physically inclined and swaps out the spoons for a shovel (it gets moves like bone rush cause its a grave digger)
I would pay to see both of those forms
@@OswaldAurelia oh that sounds cooler!
@@OswaldAurelia If you have a favorite Pokemon rom hack/fangame, suggest it to the creator. Heck, if you can draw it for them, even better!
Hahah, Kinesis will now bend forks and still be useless 😂
There is something so cool about the elemental punches being special.
If only the elemental fangs had the power of at least the elemental punches. Preferably I'd like the punches and the fangs to have only slightly less power than the Thunderbolts/Ice Beams/Flamethrowers
Yes, stupid also.
@@realmdarkness Yeah and the fangs would basically be the physical version of the punches in an alternate timeline
I know this reply is super late
Damn, I would love to see Xatu in Gen 6 NU. I know that all the tier is shapped around Xatu and I find that super interesting
Low-tier Magic Bounce staple that is not Espeon
@@hessiankyojin That’s the entire point of Xatu always on NU or being niche on higher tiers. Espeon is not that good either anyways.
Same with Gen 2 NU
I love these intuitive videos of old metagames its acc rlly fascinating

The opposing Suicune really appreciated that Rain Dance.
LOL.

That's true, it's a bit awkward using Knock on Zam though. You get the most out of Knock on very defensive teams where Zam would be hard to fit
Time for some moustache gaming on the adv ladder

It fits Alakazam nicely. Despite not being the most powerful threat, it still managed to carve out niches in Gen 2 and 3 with Encore and fast speed, being a crafty underdog armed with 5000 IQ and outsmarting OU teams full of juggernauts.

Something that wasn't added, lum berry is a great item for zam since synchro will pass it to them, and now you have no status, while they do. The Iron Mugulis chronicles deserve an Emy and several oscars
Thanks for covering this! Alakazam is my favorite Pokemon of all time, so it's also my favorite UUBL Pokemon, in multiple generations.

Would love to see more gen 3 content again, keep it up Jim!
Crobat is my favorite Pokemon overall, and it's in UUBL. How about talking about Crobat?
Crobat is unfortunately pretty bad. Completely outclassed by Aerodactyl. Maybe there's some niche use for it but I've never seen it do much
I really like Crobat too! I very frequently use it while playing through the Pokemon games thanks to its good typing, decent Attack stat, high Speed, and early evolution. The fact that something so menacing evolves via friendship makes me think that Crobat has a kind heart.
Crobat should drop to UU like Arcanine did it’d have a solid niche there as a late game cleaner imo
CB crobat is fun, but poison stab is kinda bad in gen 3.
@jimothycool double battles starting out with crobat status issues along side a fast sleep partner like jumpluff? Now imagine both shiny 😅
Jimmy featuring my choke Vs Altina 😢

now we need to see some gen 3 laddering with Alakazam teams.
finally more ADV stuff it's been so long
I had a team with a lot of fighting coverage on it specifically, and because of that the raw power and speed of Alakazam was ideal.
Imagine if the 135 special defence was speed
imagine a special attacker with like 55 physical stats and hp and 135 special stats and speed
and a really good dual stab like idk ghost
Me remembering ALakazam being one of the prime special sweepers in gen 3 Ou: What do you mean Niche?????!!

It's so much fun using Pokemon that aren't normally used. Having been using lead Glalie with quite a bit of success.
