Some will never figure out how to get Iron Hands in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. But famous player Jim Cool is well aware of the Best Iron Hands Moveset in Competitive, and even how to Iron Hands Shiny Farm. Many aren't and never will be. That's just the unfortunate reality of the world.
Some may argue that the above paragraph is completely unrelated to anything. I'd say its important information to consider.
The below text is very relevant to many people.
Game Freak just blew all other online game development schools out of the water with this incredible new 2022 release. You're gonna need to get a game design degree online, and FAST, if you want to make a better game than this. Not even the best strategy games android reddit could hold a candle to this breathtaking Next generation competitive Pokemon experience.
Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on TH-cam. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

Jim I think you messed up the chapters in the vid. Gen 8 goes into the Gen 9 chapter.
OH ITS MAGNETON
What if you wanted to be a wall
But gamefreak made you a rock ice type
or rock steel
or rock ground
or mono rock with no recovery...
but when hisuian avalugg switches in on an ice beam. oh man.
You can be a wall that is a rock ice type. Simply have an ability that restores hp to full upon switch and legendary stats, and a decent healing move. Then make the lore such that that Rock/Ice wall is a pretender god with one trick that makes it seem like it is godly, and that is massive secret healing and that it stole power from an actually defensive legendary Pokemon.
The well-known weaknesses of Rock/Ice type prevent it from actually being that good, akin to Hero Zamazenta.
what if you want to be better blissey, but gamefreak gave slack of to you nine generations too late
@@shimogane2474 Snorlax still doesn't have it.
Sturdy defensive Pokémon that are difficult to eliminate are nicknamed walls by the competitive singles community.
These are pokemon with high defensive stats, reliable forms of healing, and usually utility or status moves that help out your team. They’re like a wall, blocking the enemies attackers from getting through.
@@kittibyou
Walls are a fundamental part of competitive Pokemon
@KinsectWings Bad grammar is a super effective attack
@@donttrustnoone3921 and are a common way to handle enemy offensive threats.
@@tongster789but some pokemon specialize in taking down these walls
Wallbreakers are very fun. You click one button and a Pokémon explodes or takes a ton of damage. It doesn't get simpler than that folks.
*Adaptability boosted Poison Jab from a Mega Beedrill against Unaware Clefable intensifies*
Using wallbreakers can be very complicated though
You have to get them in safely and sometimes that's a whole game in and of itself
Look at Choice Band Crawdaunt. It's frail, it's slow, and it takes hazards. Incredible when it can click though
@@zdelrod829 adaptabilty rain boosted choice band crawdaunt crabhammer go brrrr
@@zdelrod829 mega beedrill is my favorite because that thing is the epitome of guerilla tactics
Crawdaunt is such an epic mon bro. The risk/reward of having to position it correctly but getting a free KO (or at least guaranteed significant progress) pretty much every time you do is so fun, satisfying, and yet balanced. I knew he was the one when banded Knock did 70% to Melmetal back in Gen 8. We love Mr. Craw 📞📞📞
Crawdaunt is a good, honest mon. It obliterates stall, supports its team with Knock Off (when it doesn't just KO something), has a STAB priority move, but it's still balanced by being easily revenge killed. Hall-of-fame wallbreaker right there
The best wall breaker is the kool-aid man
OH YEAH!
OH YEAH!
OH YEAH!
OH NO
True.
"These are WallBreakers, and their job is to punish greedy teams."

Don’t do it Jimmy, hunting Iron Mugulis is too dangerous and basically a death sentence! 🍵
Don’t give up on him yet! We must give him our energy
@@thepokesannin4434if you want Jim to succeed in his parlous quest against the malevolent mug, give him your likes and subscribes for more power!
Channel all of our likes, subscribes, and comments to slay this mug menace with an epic spirit bomb. Just wait for the cup to monologue. Spirit Bomb takes a turn to set up like Solar Beam
"The competitive singles community" sounds very funny out of context
I reckon there's a significant overlap
Iron Mugulis is my least favourite wall-breaker, being able to use his Quark-Drive boosted Sp. Atk STAB Thunder to break through staples like Skarmory; a wall-breaker having a broken heal move, in his signature move Half-Full, is too broken GameFreak!
they break walls
no
They wall breaks
Couldn't have said it better myself.
No way! I thought they broke floors.
This makes Bastiodon and Stakataka even worse concepts than they already were. Aggron at least looked cool. That means Probopass is the only Ok Rock/Steel type
Hoopa Unbound is my favorite wallbreaker oat. Honorable mention - mamoswine, conkelldur and kyurem (all forms)
Forgot to mention that one.
kyrem black is trying his damn best (not enough)
@@usernametaken017wym bro got ISpear and DD in gen8 and loaded dice in gen9
Hoopa seems to be a wallbreaker despite its typing. On paper, its stats make it look like it should be permabanned from OU so that makes up for it having relatively weak moves and decent but not amazing typing (not bad offensively but only has its psychic immunity going for it defensively).
Mamoswine is a wallbreaker because of its typing. Ice/Ground STAB is one of the hardest combos to switch into. Mamos stats are pretty fair tho. If it were much faster, it would easily find itself in OU more often than not.
I love TR DB hoopa-U
Shout-out to the goofy snowman Darmanitan-G for the brief period it was OU. Absolutely ridiculous.
Brief time it was in OU? In natdex it's Ubers so I wonder what's so different between the 2 metas that makes it so much better there
Oh yes, gen 7 definitely introduced the terrain mechanics :)))
Just like how weather was added in gen3!
And how Outrage was introduced in gen4 😂😂😂
Nobody notices a mechanic that doesn't revolutionize the game.
Follower Pokemon in Heart-Gold and Soul-Silver.
Have fond memories of Banded Terrakion back in BW, before Lando-T was released. That CC 2hkod max defense skarmory most of the time
Mega-Mawile will always be my favourite wall breaker fairy/steel typing with effectively the highest attack stat in the game was wild honestly.
What sucks is a lot of wall breakers need
Dragalge is such a flavorfully done wallbreaker. Adaptability on it makes lots of sense. It started as a ambush based water/poison type disguising itself as rotten kelp. By becoming dragon/poison (a worse typing compared to its pre evolution), it keeps its water resist, more than doubles its damage output against the surrounding water types, & no longer needs to rely strictly on that to feed.
252+ SpA Dragalge Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Deoxys-Defense: 67-81 (22 - 26.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery. 252+ SpA Adaptability Dragalge Dragon Pulse vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Deoxys-Defense: 86-102 (28.2 - 33.5%) -- 88.2% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery. Dragalge would need 146 base special attack without adaptability to deal this much damage. That's an insane boost of damage.
Anyway, pokemon is LOADED with wallbreakers. Kommo-0, Dragonite, Flapple, Goodra, Hydreigon, Gouging Fire, Raging Bolt, Azumarill, Gallade (Gen 9 gave it Sharpness lol), Flutter Mane, Chandelure, Aegislash, Basculegion, Ceruledge, Armorouge, Palafin, Clawitzer, Gyarados, Araquanid, Nidoking, Excadrill, Lando-T, Torterra (Gen 9 buffs were legit huge), Diggersby, all forms of Volcarona, Minior, Hisui Arcanine, Kleavor, Hisui Sam etc. It's such a fun archtype to play.
fun fact: Mega Gardevoir is actually a good wallbreaker in gen 6 as well. It can punish Chansey with Psyshock, and has a very strong one with 165 special attack. It can punish Latios with Hyper Voice, and it can use Will'o'Wisp to get in chip damage on pokemon while punishing physical attackers like Bisharp. It also can punish steel types with Focus Blast or even HP Fire or Ground, as well as Taunt stall pokemon out of using their recovery or status moves.
There was a reason why aegaslash was so popular in gen 6 OU it turned fairies like Mega Garde into fodder
I like to run Attract, Thunder wave, Encore and Disable with just enough speed investments to outspeed common mons. Rest goes into bulk. I may not win but I will definitely make someones day worse. Lol
@@victory8928it was also a hilariously broken wallbreaker lol
@@victory8928 to be fair Wisp Mega Garde can make progress on it when it switches in
@@hippityhoppitymycommentisn6360 attract twave swagger encore for max annoyance
The unexpected Balatro music out of left field combined with how quiet it was really fucked with me I won't lie
What's funny about Gen 6 is that, despite the power of Mega's and wall breakers, the defensive values are almost as high up there. The omnipresence of Scald and Knock-Off combined with threats like Ferrothorn make sweeping really hard to do.
Moltres can be something of a wallbreaker in gen 2, sunny day+fire blast+charcoal, one of the few special attackers that can threaten lax.
Terrains were actually introduced in Gen 6, the abilities were just introduced in Gen 7
Did anyone ever use Terrains in Gen 6 or were they just there because they were not immediately set?
@@iantaakalla8180 there was a Xerneas set that used Misty Terrain's status immunity to get around Klefki's Thunder Wave
New favorite jim quote “Monkey with big drum. I can get behind this.”
Dracovish makes every other wallbreaker seem like a joke, just imagine if Water Absorb didn't exist.
Fishous Rend and Bolt Beak where designed by a 5 year old, I have no idea how these moves got passed R&D when making gen 8.
They were designed by people who only think about in game and VGC
Obviously they break a fan made singles format
Chi yu:
In singleplayer, the only Trainers you'll probably have them for is like Leon, and in VGC, it both only kills one mon and Dracovish isn't necessarily fast enough, and Dynamax can give Speed to move first, Sun to weaken the hit and take weather, etcetera.
the moves were supposed to be balanved by being on slow mons that need to use their abilities to go fast but they didn't make dracovish slow enough, arctozolt isn't too good iirc
@@GravityIsFalling They really should make the mainline games primarily doubles focused, it doesn't make sense for the competitive scene and the single player experience to be so drastically different from each other, it's a completely missed opportunity and an easy way to introduce new players to the competitive scene in a way that if they ever decided to try competitive out in any capacity, they'd be better equipped to understand what is even going on and have a better mind for strategy from the get go, rather than having to learn the entire game essentially all over again.
every time I see that Raikou sprite with timbs and choice specs on, I recoil in fear.
Nice Tim🅱️s, 🅱️aikou
Nidoking is the coolest wallbreaker imo because he uses his lower attacking stat which isn't very common
Its bizzare feeling describing Tauros as a wallbreaker.
Tauros is defined by its fragility, its needed for so many endgames (barring some pocket zam team)
You just described general offensive mons rather than something approaching a tool to break walls. Especially including something like persian feels bizzare when it struggles to do anything against most things with recovery when they are at full health. Its very much a cleaner.
There are those tools though. Physlax is a great example. Exeggutor is a great example, being able to end some defensive key point with sleep or explosion to open up the rest of the team.
Yeah I was surprised by that, also by the general lack of early gen boom. Nothing says wallbreaking like banded metagross ohkoing skarm with resisted boom.
Just wanna shout out gen 9 Sharpness Gallade. Gallade is my favorite mon of all time. The feeling of shredding opponents with Choice Band Sharpness Boosted Sacred Sword and dealing 60-70% to high phys-def mon while they switch in makes me tingle with joy.
I really like this type of video. I just want to have Dr. Cool hold a lecture about a random aspect of competitive pokemon.
"May they cup runneth over. (Not)"

I love that you switched to Donkey Kong music when you covered Rillaboom lol
I’ve always wondered what wall breakers did. Thank you Jimothy, very cool.
When I was a little kid, my babysitter had a stuffed Lugia doll that I kept trying to steal from her, so my mom took me out and got me a Corphish plush. I still have it 17 years later.
Corphish is my favorite Pokemon ever, so it made me happy you mentioned Crawdaunt.
My name is Gary Heatran and the walls of my room have been shattered
my favorite Wallbreaker is Mega Heracross. murdered so many Stall teams with it when everyone complained about Stall.
slow U-turn or double it in, then click sub or SD or predict on anything and murder everything.
14:53 Superpower is not a gen 4 move but a gen 3 one! And to this day, it has remained completely unchanged, a testimont to its balance!
Respect Mr. Fish. The greatest wall breaker
you have a great speaking voice. glad i found your channel!
Nidoking was my favourite wallbreaker, it didnt look crazy but sheer force boltbeam coverage with surprise superpower for bliss/chanc was so much fun, especially when webs became a thing.
0:35 Can we talk about a psychic type being the Mon of choice for breaking a steel wall? Tapu Lele was BUSTED!
Focus Blast Alakazam
Fire Blast Azelf
Earth Power Celebi
Superpower Deoxys
Fire Punch Jirachi
Earthquake Metagross
Brick Break Mew
Aura Sphere Mewtwo
Heat Wave Xatu
I just discovered your channel recently, great content! Also I love the DK64 and OSRS music in the background 😅
Crawdaunt gotta be one of my favourite mons of all time
Go ahead
Switch into my Adaptability, Choice Band, Crabhammer, I implore you.
I'm mostly used to VGC doubles so it's cool to see archetypes from the singles perspective.
Not mentioning Clamperl for Gen3 Wall Breaker is absolutely outrageous!
Loved the video! That being said, not talking about Mega Mawile is what some people could define as being criminal
Wall breakers when wall fixers walk in
I really like using Choice band Aggron along with rock head and head smash.
Back in gen V, my absolute favourite wallbreaker was the goofiest Kyurem-B set, subroot/hone claws/dragon tail. You would just set up on anything that didn't break your sub, and infinitely phaze things with the game's strongest dragon tail.
Kartana is my personal favorite wall breaker for two generations and actually was what helped shape my team to the way it is today but with Flutter Mane as its spiritual successor
Breloom's my favorite but it's my favorite in general for having a lot of gimmicky sets. But what really gets me going is running counter on Blissey, because in the right circumstances it instantly deletes a powerful physical threat, making Blissey's presence even scarier, and from experience can cause psychological damage you'll never recover from. It's a wallbreaker breaker.
It's worth mentioning about Tauros' Hyper Beam in Gen1 that Speed counts for crit chance, courtesy of his high speed Tauros had a 21% approx. chance of critting Hyper Beam.
Good vid as always! I just feel that in the earlier Gens, especially 1 + 2, that Explosion and Self Destruct should have been at least touched on in halving defense and ending the turn, meaning the opposing Pokémon can’t even predict something like a Recover or a Rest to make up for that damage a bit. Definitely one of my favorite wallbreaking uses alongside Adapability mons like Crawdaunt lol
Another big fat jimothycool video to save for later at work
Where are both Darmanitan? Fire Darmanitan was a menace on sun teams during gen 5, the only thing that barely stopped it was Slowbro with rocky helmet and you still had to suicide it or a member of your team to send Slowbro again (regenerator) so he killed himself with flare blitz recoil + rocky helmet.
Flare blitz, U turn, earthquake (for Heatran) basically the other move was pointless.
This thing only spammed Flare blitz until it killed himself by the recoil. Fun ol times!
"This thing could one-hit your entire life."
I felt that. That's a hard line.
So hyped for the Jimothy Cool vs Iron Mugulis cage match.
Early bird gets the Jim
He might be PU now (which seems like a stretch tbh) but I love using Staraptor in Gen 9 lower tiers. Reckless Tera Flying Brave Bird just feels like a "Delete Enemy" button in the late game
To get you closer to 70k I hit the subscribe button twice 😌😎😎
Melmetal looks goofy and that's epic. Just a blob that with some cogs that also went to the gym. Trully inspired
Ms. Gorebyss, tear down these walls.
for gen 1 wallbreakers i feel kingler should have been mentioned, 130 attack and swords dance means it can 1 shot chansey from full
With what attack?
@@danielsmith5032hyper beam
Wow, I don't believe I've ever been here this early.
Anyway, I do love the off meta choices for Wall Breakers, they can be hilarious when they come out of nowhere. I trust Jimothy to talk about a few oddballs.
Just noticed I wasn't subscribed! Sorry, been watching you for quite a while too. Here's another sub for the crusade against the Iron Abomination.
Specs Chi Yu was an insane wallbreaker before it got rightfully banned
I am curious what would happen if Mamoswine was in Generation 3 OverUsed. This is now, in fact, information so vital to my life that I cannot live without it. Someone, be it friend or foe, please inform me what would happen to the meta if Mamoswine was in Gen 3 OU.
In the ORAS hay day I had a fun time using choice band victini and life orb crawdaunt on the same team
Hoopa-Unbound is insane as a wallbreaker, if only it was good against hyperoffense as well...
if a wallbreaker is fast, it's banworthy
Ans:

My favorite has always been spped boat Blaziken. Yeah it's like, always in Ubers, but i love that guy
29:43 I think terrains had existed in gen 6, but you could only summon them manually.
dracovish broke the walls to my heart ❤
hey jim. nice video. something id love to see is pokemon in gen 3 ou that you think are under-explored. i know youve mentioned hoppip (bc of encore) and exeggutor. i wanna hear about some others!
Lol I remember running Choice Banded Metagross in Gen 3 and when I lead with it my opponent took like 5 minutes deciding what to sack to a possible CB Explosion.
I know this is more singles focused, but the fact that in 7th Gen VGC, Kartana was able to survive things it shouldn't was amazing, and still hit like a truck despite no atk investment. Just HP, SDef and some Speed and AV and you got a survival machine, add some Rain and Intimidates and you got everything.
Also I love the funny Fossil Fish
Mega mawile was also a menace... that thing just tore through everything
Wouldn't it be crazy if instead of being called wall breakers they were called wall freakers and instead of breaking walls they touched them
Long video? Hell yeah.
"Gen 1 Machamp can use Body Slam to spread Paralysis."
Well... certaintly not against the Chansey and Snorlax it's supposed to counter anyway. (Thank you Gen 1)
But I guess it's still useful if you predict a switch to something else.
It's the only way it ever does anything to mie and egg at least. Could be worse, it has to seismic toss gengar lol
@@SPZ-gv2on Gen 1 Machamp truly is the "we have a wallbreaker at home" Pokémon. Yeah, I understand that countering Chansey and Snorlax is a big deal, but it being so vulnerable to everything else is pretty funny.
i love using wallbreakers, they're the most high risk, high reward pokemon that massively increase the skill ceiling (while lowering the skill floor lol), but there's a problem here. the ability to wallbreak is a fundamentally overpowered mechanic, and traditionally that was balanced heavily with low speed, poor bulk or prediction reliance (like crawdaunt, medicham, slaking etc). but the further you get through this video, the longer the list gets for each gen, and the more normal the pokemon look. every viable pokemon is either a wall or a wallbreaker at this point, and old school wallbreakers are garbage since they have a ton of drawbacks while doing the same damage as everything else
Mr. Salamence, tear down this wall
The older I get, the more I realize how much of a blessing kingambit is to the gen 9 ou meta. I hate him, but he feels like the only thing that can stop the insane chaos and cheese that this meta constantly keeps throwing up. Honestly think the meta would be so much worse without him, and at this point, he's just as core to gen 9 as tera is.
Rip no mention of Mixed Mence in Gen4. That thing having access to Fireblast, Hydropump, EQ, and Outrage was pretty silly. If you were trying to wall it on one side of the defensive spectrum you got rektd by the other side
You mentioned jolteon in rby but its even more so of a wallbreaker in stadium 1 due to focus energy working and giving it like, 75ish% to crit, and in a gen with 2x damage crits and amnesia boosters, its quite useful
I love that moltres can 2 hit ko lax in sun with fblast and spikes
Dracovish is my favorite. Nothing like a massive beatstick that deletes anything not immune. Honorable mention to tapu lele for similar feats.
Remember Choice Band Gouging Fire scoring a 2hit KO on Dondozo in the Sun?
Crawdaunt is my favorite too, I have a sort of ptsd from Sableye on the battlespot when prankster still worked on dark types (Sad face)
As Reverend put it, Gen 1 Machamp seems like the ideal wall breaker but it really just lied on its resume. Most of the time its fighting STAB is getting blanked by psychic types, and even if you did predict a psychic switch in by using body slam then you're just a worse Snorlax. But at least it's bait for the counter trick, I guess. There's a reason it's considered PU despite everything.
