Legends (core) is THE product line that brought me back into Transformers after 35+ years. This is *exactly* what I wish the original toy line was all along... portable, detailed, highly articulated, authentically styled, and FUN! Hasbro/Takara need to leverage this 3.5-inch scale for all it's worth. Give us an official legends/core Unicron!
Wish I gave legends more of a chance once I got back into collecting. I saw MP as more premium. More adult. It never occurred to me that they would be this good. But I'm sticking to my guns. I'm in too deep to start over now.
So far i'm caught up on the Newage cartoon accurate lineup, and got a few complimentary brands like MS Menasor, Zeta mini Superion, MFT triple changers, etc. Otherwise working on Magic Square's new Bruticus rn, which is pretty fun. Legends really in its golden age right now, if you disregard how they're canibalizing the market like FT and XTB did in the past few years. Live in the moment and worry about the consequences later I guess.
This is a great time for legends because there are so many great releases now. If you missed a character from the past just wait for a reissue or recolor and like you said live for the moment
Well said, I'm enjoying it but I'm sort of the opposite and go mostly with the price point and size accurate MS line. That being said I'm very much looking at a bunch of New Age including their Dinobots and Skyfire.
I've gone really big into the Legends and having a lot of fun. I like how I can get a few different colors of the same figure and put them on a shelf and it takes less room than a single masterpiece. Space has just become such an issue for me...
I also appreciate the space value of legends. When I started with Legends they looked like cheap MP knock offs but now they rival MP in aesthetic for the most part and that impresses me
I'm mostly buying MS myself and I'm rather new to the market. I'm mostly doing this because of cost but I am picking out the pieces I like most and is affordable. If I can't afford it I just pick off cheaper variants from my list. I'm in no rush and if I ever get to the place where I'm waiting I can build my money to get larger items like the Omega Supreme piece or Unicron, etc.
good handy video as I am about to jump into the legends scale game and trying to narrow down which company I want to collect. A buddy of mine is all about Newage. I am leaning towards Magic Square, but I am realizing I am going to have to cherry pick across a few companies to get the full cast I want.
My collection of legends consists mainly of magic square figures from season 1 of the G1 cartoon, but I pick and choose some figures from season 2 that I particularly like. How can you not buy the stunticons and combaticons. There's just something about the aesthetics of MS's figures that I love so much. And although most people like shiny or metallic paint jobs I actually prefer the more matt and muted colors from magic square. The figures look more reminiscent to their 80's G1 cartoon counterparts. It's like they just walked off the screen. I do have some other brands of legends in my collection though, like blitzwing and astrotrain from MFT, Zeta's aerialbots and ofcourse the dinobots set from DX-9 that kicked off my legends collection 4-5 years ago.
SAME HERE! I swear almost every Magic Square figure review now can be summed up as: “So the articulation, sculpt, proportions, engineering, transformation, and pricing is really good. But nyeeeh, i don’t like the plastic even though its a necessity, and nobody likes matte finish, -100000/10 do better MS.”
All 3 transform element beast wars figs are available, and at some decent prices, on Aliexpress, I grabbed all 3 recently, love em, wish they did more but they seem to have quit the scale.
i seen a yt video a few months ago of newage david vs magic square light of victory, and that video made me want to start collecting, now i have almost a full legends roster of the main s1, s2 cast, only missing sunstreaker, warpath, skids & pipes, i bought mostly ms, na & mft, really hoping for a sunstreaker & a ms wheeljack as na is too small for a jack
Nice intro, now if only someone put together a list like the one on tfw that lists all TF characters, by season, and populates if there's an official MP and/or any suitable 3P standins. I remember, years ago, I copy/pasted the character list into an excel spreadsheet to track what I was collecting MP scale wise, and then added columns to start on the path of tracking the legends and legends+ I had at that point.
Hello I collect mainly legends. I mainly go by the appearance of each figure, but if both look equally good, I prefer NewAge. Mainly for materials and paint. MechFansToys figures are treated as fillers. Regards
i love magic square more than new age, got both dinobots and devastator, new age dev look solid, because it uses alot more parts forming, but i find it hard to pose, but i think new age dev will stand on the shelf longer than ms coz nearly its whole body is parts forming, and na dinobots look a bit fatter than ms which on some cases its good some kinda weird, and seeing alot of uncover parts on a kit is a downer for me, ms has some too, but its alot more on na
So far, I have exactly one third-party Legends figure: NewAge's Megatron. Hopefully, I can get to change that soon with the stripped down reissue of Magic Square's Optimus Prime 2.0 (figure & gun only), but the QC worries me a bit. They gave it clear chest windows, but, the entire panels are clear blue so they're painted red. The paint is the problem...it's either too thin and chips easily, or too thick to where you can't transform it because the panels are stuck. There's others I'm interested in, but these prices are insane...while older ones are just gone. Makes it just as hard to be a Legends collector as it is for a MP collector.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 No kidding! Won't be easy to amass that many, though. Between insane prices on newer ones (it's exactly what happened with 3P CHUG scale before everyone jumped ship in favor of MP) and older figures (ex.: NewAge Seekers, Soundwave, & Shockwave) being sold out everywhere, that just doesn't seem possible.
I went and got everything Iron Factory has made, I really like their nonstandard designs. (I stick to G1/toon with masterpiece. ) this is generally all i do for legends. though i am getting MS Combaticons as it is my favorite combiner group. and i had to get MS Shockwave for my Zeta Bruticon to hold :D

i have 3 MFT toys, by far i think the worst i bought of the 3 i own is the refraktor brothers because his accessories just doesn't match the arms. essentially, the handles of the weapons aren't 5mm ports but were square pegs. i bought Octane and grapple but debating to buy Astrotrain
I though I saw something about MFT having fallen apart and suggesting no more releases from them. Any truth to this? A couple that are on preorder that I've been waiting for....
I disagree that MS’s figures look better than NA. Yeah they look good, but IMO NA nails the toon look better, doesn’t feel cheap, and the paint is just awesome. The thing I will give MS over NA is their figures’ height. Btw, is it me or the images you put for “MS” Cyclonus, Ironhide, and others; aren’t they NA?
I absolutely hate these Legends figs that feature that awful shiny paint that almost looks like vacmetal. The “unpainted” Magic Square are perfect. They dont need paint. These look a million times better with a flat/matte finish. I especially hate these super shiny Dinobots from a newer video. I love the new MS Grimlock. Alit were saying its the worst one. Its exactly on model with the cartoon version. The yellow is too subdued but that can be spiced up with an Autobot logo or painting it yourself with the proper color.

It would be cool to have a checklist per character and all the different options made
Magic square is Fanstoys, Newage is MMC
Hello
I collect mainly legends.
I mainly go by the appearance of each figure, but if both look equally good, I prefer NewAge. Mainly for materials and paint.
MechFansToys figures are treated as fillers.
Regards
The longer you hold out on a legend scale toy by newage, the better chance of getting a sale and or better version, so that’s what I’ve been doing.
True that is a risky game but the payoff could be fantastic

I’m mainly in on Magic Square and fillin with all the other companies

Yep but you have to be careful if you get 5 or 6 good legends figures you may get hooked

I figured MP collectors look at g1 as Been there done that! Iron Factory carved out a great space for G1 adjacent figures to display
I have an all NewAge base and I’m adding some MFT to round out with missing characters 😊
NewAge:
Prime
Grimlock
Sludge
Swoop
Ultra Magnus
Ironhide
Ratchet
Jazz
Arcee
Jetfire
Soundwave
Megatron
Galvatron
Cyclonus
Shockwave
Starscream
Devastator

Blitzwing

I wonder if their Refractor is a KO of a different one I gotta check that out
@@tydiriumhanger1320I checked even the reviews, it's a design issue that everyone have.
17:36 that looks *_GREAT!!_* almost undoubtedly, it'll be built better than omnigonix. Shame what the manufacturer did with that design.
I look forward the all their releases but it has been a while since they released anything
I though I saw something about MFT having fallen apart and suggesting no more releases from them. Any truth to this? A couple that are on preorder that I've been waiting for....
I sure hope not! They have been playing with fire for years but I thought they have been flying straight for a while
A showz rep said they heard a rumor that MFT might be done. But you never know.

Yes those are all NA and took them straight from the NA section of ShowZ.
It is good that these days you can mostly mix and match between companies and they look great together
Shattered glass Blurr! C’mon! Bounty hunter, what’s not to like?
Sounds awesome
