I was about 10 riding motocross stopped chatting with my friend's older brother, about 16, next to this big jump I wanted to try and he was like, "You haven't hit that yet?! Oh man you got it." And I said, "Yeah you're probably right, I want to do it but I'm scared!" and he just looked at me and was like, "... so then do it scared." And it blew me away, because he wasn't dismissing the fear like I expected him to, he totally understood and acknowledged it, and was like you're scared? So what, do it anyway. Do it scared. And I think about that REMARKABLY often even still, and this was almost 20 years ago now.

    • @FromThe3021

      That's exactly what "Don't be a pussy means".

    • @FromThe3021
      @FromThe3021 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      "Don't be a pussy", as in
      "Don't be a scaredy cat".
      Being a chicken means you cluck & run around, refusing to go through with the act (like when two drivers play chicken).
      A scaredy cats will either just sit there and lick itself, ignorant to the pressure of any commands or it will scurry off in such haste that will include a jump, flip or any other crazy cat like manoeuvre (see Internet) which will itself will be more challenging than the act. In either case, the cat isn't genuinely scared, why would they be? They have 9 lives.
      They might run from a dog but that's just smart. As soon as they are out of reach, they just chill, no matter how nuts the dog might be going below. The cat will chill just out of reach. So what I'm highlighting is that a scaredy cat isn't a scared cat or a cat that's scared, a scared cat would throw itself out of a building window just because it doesn't want to a be picked up. Can you picture a cat shaking, fearful of its abusive owner? It doesn't happen.
      So for example, when a group is encouring someone, they get called "chicken" first. If the person gets up in response to do it straight away, the group starts calling out "scaredy cat" because they have stepped up like they have no fear but this never works as encouragement, the person is only reminded they don't have 9 lives. When does anyone get called both these names then just go ahead and do the act? I haven't seen it.
      However, when someone is called a "chicken", if they aren't,m and they start to explore the idea, they may invision themselves doing it, they are still scared but they go through the possible scenarios, building up courage. The group sees this and they start to yell "Don't be a scaredy cat", meaning do it scared. "Don't be a pussy".
      So that's it kiddies, remember. "The more you know, the more you grow".

I feel like he's prodded a LOT of people,, just a little bit. Perhaps enough for them to look further into the concepts themselves... People can love or hate him, but I think it/'s getting harder to sell the story that he's a harmful influence, Nothing he suggests is anything other than beneficial to one's life.
