Theo’s almost child-like innocence was remarkably effective at captivating Jocko and opening him up. This was a great interview of a great (and fascinating) man. Much respect to both of you.
I love how Jocko was extremely skeptical of Theo for the first 15+ minutes and then watching Theo systematically win him over. Theo is quickly becoming a great conversationalist and podcast host. Good stuff man. Keep it up.
Yeah. The first couple of minutes it seemed like Jocko was gonna eat him for lunch (I imagine this was taped in the morning but when you’re up and at em at 4:30, you probably eat lunch at 10:30), but then he’s like “this guy is alright”
I agree. But I think he blindsided jocko with a couple questions, making jocko have to detach and answer the question. Like when he asked him if he missed combat. He might want to try getting there a little differently. But it was great and he was definitely engaging.
I know this was three years ago, but those who have worked with or known people from Louisiana get it. We have a tendency to push all lines without ever meaning to cross them.
