    I just ordered a pair. I like that the pads come out the top. I come from the motorcycling world and it's the same sort of setup so you don't have to remove the caliper to change the pads.

    These are the same ones I put on my wife's and my Himiway Cruisers a few months ago. We really like them too!

      Sweet, they seem to be working well on this bike too!

    Great video …. I was thinking about the upgrade using the Juintech however as a Canadian I could only find them on US sites so it was becoming overly expensive after dollar conversation and shipping for two bikes. The Xtech Calipers that you have used are available on the Canadian Amazon site at $57 can so considering I’m due to replace my brake pads it’s there not very expensive
    With your review and installation demo it seems as a great choice… this is now one of my projects for the off season
    Thanks again

      Thanks. The shipping across borders has gotten so expensive….

      No that it’s been a few months what is your overall experience with the brakes ? Was it a good option? Would you now recommend them.

      I haven’t had any issues with them. They’re still working well!

    do they actually give you more braking power or they just give you more silent braking

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say, a little of both.

    I bought these same ones which never really seemed to grip the rotor tight enough to come to a skidding stop. They let me roll too far till I stopped and yes I adjusted and adjusted but never got them to work as they are supposed to.

      Odd, I took a ride today and they gripped really well. I have no concerns with them…

      My front ones stop fast but my rear ones do the same as you said. Kinda like it feels squishy. I was actually thinking of doing what he did in the video. I'm going to wash my pads and rotors with alcohol. Maybe something is stuck on the pads, They used to be a lot better when I first got them.

      @chiliP2000 @Eric epperson I was thinking about this last night, I am wondering … did you guys preload the lever when you tightened the crimp?
      Is it possible that you are not getting the full throw of the caliper because the cable is slightly loose?
      just an idle thought….

    Tinkering, that is a great video. I'm looking to replace the mechanical brakes on my Himiway Cruiser with hydraulic versions but not sure what to purchase. Will any hydraulic brake work? What brand would you recommend? Thanks

      Are you looking to go full hydraulic, or go mechanically actuated like these?
      The link to these calipers are in the video description. They are the only ones I have had experience with.

      I looking to use mechanically actuated ones. Thanks for the prompt reply. Have a Merry Christmas!

    My bike has 160mm tecktro mechanical disc brakes. Can 180mm upgrade system be installed with existing bracket bosses on front fork and rear frame? Maybe washers needed to raise caliper outward slightly for pads to align on larger radius rotors?

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally haven’t switched rotor sizes yet. But, I believe, you can buy another spacer bracket to accommodate the difference in rotor sizes. Try searching for something like “Tektro disc brake mount adapter”, and see what you find.

      Also search TH-cam for a video that discusses this in detail.

      @@TinkeringTurtle thanks!, I have now researched and found that new calipers mostly come with an adaptor bracket for 160mm or 180mm rotors. Thinking about upgrading only the front caliper/rotor at this time. It seems to do the majority of the stopping as on a car due to weight transfer forward.

      @Greg Bailer sweet!
      I would say, as a rule, I always use both brakes when slowing or stopping on an Ebike. I do this so both sensors are triggered and the extra weight for ebikes is balanced between front and back.
      I don’t see any problem with changing the front and waiting on the back. But pay attention and make sure the bike is stable as you brake.
      Good luck!

      My neighbor actually has this bike now. And I spoke with him just last week and I asked him about them. He said he has had no issues with his brakes.

    I got some good ones through Bolton - Now Area 13 eBikes. Easy on and work great.
