The sad part is that the Himiway manual lacks info as to general repair, part replacements and general maintenance info. Imo, Tim, the Tinkering Turtle, should be paid by Himiway for producing go-to videos like this, but he simply does it anyway because he's a caring man with a big heart . Hat's-off to the Tinkering Turtle!

I thought I was smart enough to figure out my squeaking brakes but I’ve had little success. After watching your video I adjusted them per your instructions and no more squeaking! It’s a pleasure to ride ounce again. Thanks much!😊

Adjusting the brakes is the first step in eliminating the squeaks for sure! 👍

Thank you so much for uploading this video. It saved me a world of pain and gave me the independence to service my own electric bike. First time e-bike owner, and knew nothing of disk brakes. I managed to readjust everything myself (the store where I bought it did a pretty ordinary job assembling it.) For a middle-aged woman like me, it's such a boost in confidence. Bike is running beautifully, now; no more tyres rubbing on the break pads, no more squeaking, and the brake handles now feel firmer (not loose.) Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us noobs, in a clear and succinct way. Cheers!

I know I'm a dude and I was afraid to mess with it because it's a new system to my old ass. I just loosen the disk and Technic able with my fingers

    Good Afternoon Tim,
My Cruiser was delivered 8 days ago, I have 43 total miles. I did notice my inside front caliper was riding on the brake disc. Your video was excellent and I will made those adjustments this evening. Two days ago I rode 16 miles, and know that I will really enjoy my Himiway Cruiser. My first 3 miles last week the temp was only 14, so didn't want to make any riding mistakes with ice and snow on the roads. Yesterday and today here in Minneapolis south metro, we were 40 degrees, so have been adding up the miles.
Thank you again for the spot ON video.
    And I subscribed.
    Stay warm everyone,
    Jack

This is what I was looking for. My brakes have suddenly failed on several occasions. Starts with the rear, total sudden loss and I can make it home with just the front brake. Lately the front will fail after the rear fails. A pop noise and total slack. I contacted Vituvia and they sent me a link to your video. Took only minutes to adjust and now I have approx 6 miles without a problem. Thanks for posting this video! Most helpful!

This method seems to work! Had high pitched ringing for past few months. ENT dr said I had Eustachian Tube Dysfunction but not much to do about the ringing. Have to say that this is the best video I have found regarding adjustment of the Tektro Aries brakes. I love the clamp idea. Nicely done.
The only thing missing from this video is the use of a torque wrench.

Bike arrived, added 50 miles in the first two days, and needed to reset the front brakes, as it sounded like one of the pads dragging. Sure enough, the flashlight proved that was the case, and a quick adjustment initially found the top bolt not real tight, but all is good once again...thanks Tim!

Tim, great video - thank you. Very informative. You've done a great job of explaining the reasons for each action as you go. I got a new Radrunner Plus 3 months ago and it's my daily commuter. I love it, but this week, the brakes started fading pretty fast to the point where I virtually have no stopping power. Over the last few days, I've watched a number of "how to" videos, but it was only after watching your video that I felt I had the confidence to tackle the job and it was a piece of cake ;-) Both front and rears are working well now. I subscribed and hit the notification bell. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks again...

I actually had a hell of a time adjusting my front brakes out of the box. The pads were rubbing and I used this to help me adjust the brakes. I originally used the clamp method, but either I over tightened the clamp or didn’t tighten enough. Did 4 times with the clamp and the disk was still rubbing. Finally asked the wife to pull the handle and skipped the clamp. That fixed the issue on the first try. Not sure why the clamp didn’t help, but all good now.

Quick tip: if you don't have a clamp for the brake handle you could also use a little rope or shoe lace to wrap around, or a zip tie. And also, instead of tightening the barrel adjuster at the top I would do the adjuster at the wheel first then in future if needed more tightening you could do so at the top. Just a quick tip

Excellent and clear. OTOH, it was so clear that it's obvious to me it's definitely not something I want to do every couple of weeks. For whatever it costs to swap out the mechanical disc brakes for Tektro hydraulic disc brakes it'd be worth it, not to mention the other advantages of hydraulic vs mechanical, like gradual response vs on/off, etc. Just my 2 cents.

I was wondering today when out riding my brand new POSEIDON X if I could adjust my disc brakes in that manner. Then... There you were.
If you haven't bought a cable cutter yet, please do, they will make cutting the cables and the housing so much cleaner-neater.

Any thoughts on doing a full tune-up episode? That would be a tremendous help. I feel like I need a tune-up every 3-4 weeks w/ the way I ride, but a tune-up runs $150. That's not gonna fly.

I’m not certain what goes into a full tune-up. I will continue to add videos on various maintenance subjects. Hopefully they will add up and cover the whole bike in time.
