I've listened to hard rock my whole life (26 years). Not once have I heard these guys on any FM rock station. Nobody ever mentioned them, never heard of them until I bought a newer truck 2 years ago and got 3 months of free satellite radio. It really is a shame how many great bands never got any air time.
Queensryche, didn't get any help from UK radio or TV but were huge in the States and Canada in 1991 which is where I bought the Empire CD (on my honeymoon). I saw Geoff a week ago (May 2022) in a club venue in Newcastle where he did the entire rage to order album and Empire album in two sets. He was amazeballs vocally, and the band were cracking (i.e. very good) too. I've now just seen Whitesnake and Europe and neither Coverdale nor Tempest came even close to their younger vocal performances unlike Geoff. Quite how he sang two full sets then ended on a song with the high notes of Queen of the Ryche I don't know. He sung even better than when I saw QR supporting Dio in the mid '80s. I know he and the rest of the guys had a big falling out with court cases etc, but a Queensryche reunion would be made so much better as a result.
By far not the only band either. For example they never play any of disturbed songs except for those two they're most known for since 2001. Stupify and down with the sickness. I decided one day, almost twenty years late, to check out their entire PLAYLIST, at the time all 113 songs including their off songs, odd balls and rare songs. Every SINGLE ONE of them are at LEAST good, if not AMAZING. I can't believe they only play their mainstream ones. They have some EXCELLENT MATERIAL all through their career. It's absolute shame they didn't get more exposure for their other songs through their career.
I don't know what stations you were listening to, but I remember you couldn't go 15 mins. without hearing Silent Lucidity. I love older era Queensryche but I can't listen to that track to this day. Anything else while DeGarmo was still with them is gold, though. Tate's voice back then was supernatural.
I saw Queensryche do the entire Operation Mindcrime album in Detroit in the early 1990:s n it was phenomenal beyond words!!!! This shit was so true on the streets of Baltimore city back in late 80's, life was full of good times , good parties and good people, then there was the 2am hour when the bar's closed, that's when we would take it to the streets and really get wild. Never a dull moment back in those days.
The 80’s was the best decade ever!!! I grew up in south baltimore-locust point. I grew up with the best friends, in the best neighborhood. I would sell my soul if I could go back and do it again, exactly the same-no changes.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Queensryche. Was always amazed how good they are, yet largely overlooked. I’d put them up against the best of biggest headliners of the era.
It was a pleasure to hear this masterpiece thirty some years ago for the first time. Empire was well ahead of its time and surely rings perfect for 2020.
Omg 😳 you called it! Omg 😳 look at the criminals in charge today!!!!!! This haunts me!!!!! I’m 80’s and this song was powerful but no one paid attention and it was really what was going on! Peace and love to Queensryche
I always like their guitar arrangements. Perhaps never the fastest, loudest, heaviest or most technical but always sounding appropriate for their songs.
So glad that this song is resurfacing once again and say this because I believe that it’s a song so powerful that the world needs to stop and listen to what it’s saying
Or should I say that their commentary has proven to be false that none of the doomsday scenarios liberals predicted in the 80's came to be. Don't get me wrong, I love Queensryche, and I even love this song. But you can't change certain human natures. All their religious commentary in the Operation: Mindcrime era looks a bit silly today. Religious leaders have almost no impact on politics today unlike the 1980's. But I can see how it looked scary in the 80's. Even I got annoyed that religious leaders were trying to dictate what I could see on TV. But the conservative movement is dead (as seen with the recent Supreme Court decisions).
I hate it when jabronis inject their retarded political ideology into their work. Instead of grooving to their music I wonder if they have two brain cells to grind together Fuck criminals
The bass line and the drums make this song. The low end just ROCKS...Don't get me wrong though. The guitars and vocals are awesome in their own rite. I just think Michael and Scott shine on this track....
Starr Napolitano one time in San Antonio TX he unplugged the microphone in the majestic theatre and sat on the edge of stage and sung ; his voice was absolutely incredible and needed no microphone ...
Kevin Gordon... I'm so jealous! I would've loved to see them live... unfortunately, I was a lil too young to go to concerts... I mean I was 14 or so back then and idk bout other ppls parents but mine were a lot different then parents are today... well my dad was.... my mom actually took me to my first concert when I was 10...warrant and motley crue... Nassau Coliseum... Dr. Feelgood tour... 😀😍
I put Queensryche up on the same level as Megadeth in the subject matter and social awareness. You can't really compare either band in style because they are completely different styles of metal.

Seattle!!! And its a band from Seattle!!! Hang on Emerald City we got this....
Man this band rocks
Queensryche is one of the greatest progressive metal bands of all time. "Empire" is one of the most underrated albums.
Good to see all these comments! Fellow Rockers!! Saw them, thrice, early~mid 90s. Most excellent memories! Rock on, y'all!
Decline is right on time...
Question everything, this is a message you need to hear ...
Love his voice. I grew up listening to this band love it❤
I did also and now I'm 53 and I still listen to them all-the-time when I get a chance
It was a pleasure to hear this masterpiece thirty some years ago for the first time. Empire was well ahead of its time and surely rings perfect for 2020.
They're not just a band their artists it's crazy how Queensryche is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
How sad is it that this song is just as applicable today as when it came out almost 40 years ago?
“Empire” is my favorite Queensrÿche album 🖤
That snare drum is perfectly engineered for the mix
Um this isn’t a mix.
Yea it's a badass song, band, album etc. " I've been rocking it for 30 years or so, and it's just as badass today, as it was then.
Progressive Metal's classic and best era for the genre
These things they sang about 30 years ago are still happening today...
And will continue to happen due to human nature. We can only try to do better while realizing our limitations.
Song opens with some the most kickass opening 30 seconds in rock history. Then it gets better from there.
Way ahead of its time but telling the truth of the day . ❤❤❤❤
"Brother kill a Brother for a profit of another, game point, nobody wins" yeah they said it.
It's 2016 and the commentary is STILL relevant!
hinder nightmare hinder 9 Uno 9 no
Or should I say that their commentary has proven to be false that none of the doomsday scenarios liberals predicted in the 80's came to be.
I guess we'll ignore Donald Trump.
So true it's so sad that we haven't progressed!!!
I hate it when jabronis inject their retarded political ideology into their work. Instead of grooving to their music I wonder if they have two brain cells to grind together
Fuck criminals
The bass line and the drums make this song. The low end just ROCKS...Don't get me wrong though. The guitars and vocals are awesome in their own rite. I just think Michael and Scott shine on this track....
Eddie is the bassist not Michael
Ed Bass Kicks Ass on every song.👍💯
This was top shelf in 1988. Still is.
this song is still relevant today
Ive always loved Queensryche. ...Geoff Tate had an AMAZING VOICE...I think they were underrated. ..
Starr Napolitano one time in San Antonio TX
he unplugged the microphone in the majestic theatre and sat on the edge of stage and sung ; his voice was absolutely incredible and needed no microphone ...

@@kevingordon7898 I would have loved to hear that. That must have been awesome.
They are awesome.
Uhh this is like the most gangster rock I have ever heard. He's talking about selling crack on the corner. Holy shit.
Got an AK-47 for his best friend.
Business, the American way.
This song is just as badass as it was in 1990 I had the album it rocked
Happy Birthday today(January 29) to Eddie Jackson. Cheers! 🥨
I was in the 9th grade when this album came out. I listened to it walking the halls in highschool with my walkman cranked.
I put Queensryche up on the same level as Megadeth in the subject matter and social awareness. You can't really compare either band in style because they are completely different styles of metal.
+TheMeJustMe75 It's like comparing Rush to Helix.
Jason Hogan Exactly!
Poor no education street honor
+TheMeJustMe75 True. In NO way could these guys be called thrash metal.
+Dave Newman Complex lyrics pertaining to society's paradigm shift with a progressive, concept metal feel. Only Dream Theater could come close.
I believe his voice is extremely underrated. Would have loved to hear more from him😢😢😢
