I am mostly using safari because i am in the apple ecosystem and it helps a lot to have same browser tabs open across the devices or some continuity features. I also like safari more because it’s user data friendlier than chrome/ chromium. I‘ve used a lot of google services but after i digded a bit deeper in the rabbit-G-hole i found so many things google wrote down like , where i was, what i‘ve searched and more, it was very creepy.
I dont believe that other companies like Apple dont do that. Apple is definitely not on the good side. In general they are as bad as other big companies like Facebook, Google etc. But of course if you are totally into the Apple ecosystem Safari makes sense

According to my experience Edge is faster than Safari. Safari lags sometimes on my MBA M1 but Edge runs butter smooth with more features

I love Safari because it is clean, fast and minimalist. It functions just for one thing: web browser and nothing else: no ads, no news, no distracting bells and whistles that just bloated all other browsers.

Or you can use the trackpad gesture, which also works on other browsers.

I came from Android and Windows when I decided to switch to Apple completely in 2020. I right away feel Safari suits me much better than Chrome

@@bogxd Visually Safari is better, and less intrusive than Chrome, it has Reader View to get rid of ads and unnecessary material on the page and excellent *Print to pdf* that automatically applies the Page title to the pdf file. The tabs work better, you can find which is running video, and turn off the audio just for that, it is fast to create the tabs and flick between them and a host of other reasons.
Have no idea why you don't like *Preview.* It is a remarkable media viewer with a long list of sophisticated but easy to use editing tools. I only wish there is anything remotely like it in Windows or Linux.
I do find it frustrating when people pointlessly say "I don't like..." or "I like..." without substantiating why. Who cares about your personal likes and dislikes, nobody is going to change just to copy what you do.
Give *Reasons* you know those hard to express facts *why* anyone should choose one piece of software over another.
@@bogxd I like Safari UI and Bookmarks style (the way they are presented). It's looks modern. What I don't like - 1) It's not available on another platform. I think apple should try to make it available to all so it can be a major browser like chrome 2) Lack of extensions vs Chrome.
I tried to break away from Safari, I switched to the Orion browser, which is beautiful at first glance, but it buggy. Every time I switched to a different browser, Safari surprised me with its appearance, its battery life, its different design and features, the loading speed of the sites I use frequently (for me, it's not the loading speed of the sites, but the loading speed of the sites that I visit all the time). I currently have the Vivaldi browser installed in the back for extensions, but Safari has become my main browser no matter how hard I try to switch another browser.

For me edge is the best browser. Features they provide are not available in any other browser. It's just great if you learn all the things you can do with it

Finally switched from Safari to Arc after long years with it,
Will never go back. Safari is one of the worst Apple products, many sites are not displayed correctly on it, no normal library of extensions, loading sites slower than arc or any other chromium-based browser, also Arc updates his product very often, every week or two delivering new features.

The only thing stopping me from switching to Safari is watching TH-cam at 2x speed sounds terrible and is not as seamless and quick when switching between speeds compared to chromium browsers. So I end up using Edge since it's mostly similar to Chrome, plus some extra features like the natural and fluent read aloud feature for websites and PDFs, and the built in Bing Chat AI.
That's now been fixed in the Safari Technology Preview. Finally! So it looks like that will come to the regular Safari browser at some point soon, hopefully.
I definitely recommend you Vinegar, it's a Safari extension that allows using the Apple native video controls on TH-cam and other sites.

I actually used it regardless of the sound and I must say I don't even notice it at that point anymore haha. I use Accelerate to switch between speeds via keyboard shortcuts and it works very well for me

I use Safari for all my browsing except when I work with inspecting web stuff for my frontend work in software development. The Chrome web inspector is superior and easier to use. Aside from that use case, Safari is my go-to.

Apple Ecosystem and Safari Group tabs made me decide to switch from Chrome to Safari.
I only use Chrome now for web development sessions.

this was super useful, i just needed bookmarks at the top. Also never knew tab groups were a thing! Its time i think for me to switch from chrome. Idk why but its just been slow and sluggish even with adblocker off. I find safari is snappier nowadays. I am on an i9 intel 2019 macbook pro

Once in couple months I kinda forget all the stuff about Safari and give it another chance.
After the maximum of 2 days, I quit it again, then come back to my note named 'Why I always quit Safari' and being kinda 'Ah, that's why' usually populating it with one or more items which pissed me off this time.
Here are the items in my list for the time being:
- Non-YT videos may suddenly stop playing
- Tab management is insanely bad
- No normal PiP out of the box
- Speeded up videos sound extremely bad
- Lack of extensions I used to, others are paid
- Feature updates and bug fix latency
I used to come back to Microsoft Edge. But couple weeks ago I discovered Arc and now I can't use any browser but Arc since the rest seem clunky.
You should give it a try.
Haha I do the same mostly for extension support. For me its Chrome that I come back to. I heard some good recommendations about the Ark browser recently, maybe I will give it a try actually.

I agree about everything you said. Compared to Chrome, Edge etc, Safari is 50% lighter. Okay maybe it has something to do with I use it on a MacBook Air M3, but Safari is the best browser. What AdBlocker should I use? I use First AdBlocker, which I have heard is the best. What do you mean?

I like Safari. It took a little while to get used to it. I also like Microsoft Edge. For some reason Microsoft Edge runs so much better on my Mac compared to a windows machine.

Safari on my mac m2 air spikes cpu a lot. I like safari but that's the only thing that keeps me from using it. Guess I'll just wait for sonoma release of safari and see if this will improve.

Somehow on my mb air most streaming websites slow my computer so much but on chromium based they work perfectly normal.

I really like Safari but it failed to properly render multiple sites I use frequently or handle some app redirections. Chrome is boring and stale but functions properly.
I love Huawei, but the ban put on it by the US government made one of their phones difficult to use due to the lack of the play store and the lack of android/google add-ons. That’s why I decided to try Apple and... I think I’m going to stay with Apple

Can someone tell me how to combine 2 different safari tabs on mac? Like windows pcs, i cannot combine them by dragging it to the top. I’d like work on one page with 2 tabs.
I've a habit of deleting browsing history, how can I delete my browser history in one click of all time, but keep the cookies and cache like in how we can do in other browsers like brave chrome firefox etc in safari. please help, this is the only reason + the extension support, why I don't use safari
The only problem I have with safari is that it redirects me to the NA version of some sites (in in Europe) no matter what search engine no matter what I try, which annoys me a lot, but on firefox it just works so I use that , even if some people might argue it’s flawed etc I don’t really care I just want it to be safe and for it to work 😂

favourites arent bookmarks, theres a seperate category for them, just click on the bar with it will be saved - you can pick more than just favourites

The only reason why I'm not using Safari that much is because of the lack of an option to set where to open the 'new tab'. Currently, it opens all the way to the end and I want it to open to the right of the current tab.

i absolutely hate safari and the main reason is because when i swipe on my trackpad to go back, it slides the page back with an animation which looks cool, but then just proceeds to reload the page. like if ur gonna have to reload the page what is the point of the sliding animation, and it doesnt even reload right away. Ive compared it to chrome and its almost 2-3 times slower than chrome. not to mention safari doesnt have many of the extensions that chrome has. Ive honestly tried using safari just cause it looks prettier but its so many little things about it that makes me feel super slow and annoying.
You are missing out how capable the Preview app is. Why not revisit it? It could potentially save you some money to buy other apps or save u time and space by using other apps.

the reason i went back from safari to firefox, my beloved, is due to ublock origin not being available on safari. also, safari is slow and sluggish af when doing multiple things at once.
and no, orion browser with ublock isn't as effective, and neither is adguard.

my biggest problem is extension support...
I honestly think that profiles and tab groups where better implemented on Safari.
Tab groups can become really messy on Chrome, and I don't want to use a separate account for profile.
Safari is horrible. I tried to change to Safari for some months, but once I changed back to Firefox I felt i become to paradise
It’s easy you just need to press Control + E + A + C call your mother tell her you love her, take three steps back four steps to left jump three times. Like I’m sorry but the fact that you have to remember all these commands for basic shit, I don’t understand why anyone bothers.

I can't agree at all.
It is very inconvenient that safari cannot change fonts, but it is not enough to ruin the browser experience.
Firefox has no translation function.
Europeans and Americans are really bad at Korean and Japanese, which are different in word order. On the contrary, Koreans and Japanese find English really difficult.
In that case, a translation function is essential, but Firefox doesn't even have that function.
The Android version is more serious, it doesn't even display Google properly.
Edge to view PDFs? 😂 Preview is fantastic for viewing PDFs, and it does so much more than just viewing!

Safari is much better than Chrome in Mac, even Edge is better than Chrome in Windows, previously the native browsers were the worst but the times has changed
Preview is like ten times more capable and slick than Edge. Absolutely no need to use another browser to view pdfs.

There are regular (regular) bookmarks and favourite bookmarks. Don't confuse them.
Are people getting dumber and dumber when technology evolves… I don’t understand why people find it so hard. It’s tab groups, bookmarks, changing background or adding shortcuts to start page.
These things are common in any web browser in the world. It’s not rocket science. Are we living in an era if we are moving between edge, safari, brave, arc we have to watch TH-cam videos to learn to use the new browser 🙃 I thought technology has evolved to a level that kids below 6 years old use smartphones and laptops.
What is obvious to you might be life-changing to others (not that learning browser tips is life-changing but it’s a general thing I try to keep in mind).

Safari is pretty slow compared to both Chrome and Edge though. Battery wise of course, nothing can beat Safari.
You must be joking, preview is what I would call the best app installed on a Mac. It can open almost anything, and comes with a whole suite of editing and exporting tools for PDFs and images.
