"Hope he doesn't have an android" That's probably my biggest pet peeve for app developers. 75% of the market is Android and some will essentially just treat it like that market doesn't exist. Negative points for that one.
I switched over to Arc last year and haven't looked back. And, to be honest, I didn't really think it would be a game-changer like it is. Love it and look forward to the weekly updates and behind-the-scenes videos.
Arc spaces + key board shortcuts + the COMMAND BAR (Cmd + T) = Top 3 Game Changing Features I actually look forward to opening up Arc and separate all my interests into separate spaces, dividing my tabs into its appropriate topic. My search experience definitely feels a lot smoother and more intuitive now🙌🏽
a company primarily focusing on a platform with 10% market share with a crappy version and no attention on the main world platform is never gonna go mainstream or even be popular
frankly, as somebody who uses Arc for very similar ‘light user’ reasons to David, that awesome thing about Arc is that it feels like something that’s actually made for human beings lol. Hard to pitch to a very tech-centered crowd on that alone though.
You guys deserve the attention you're getting, I've fully switched to Arc the day I downloaded it because of how innovative it is in comparison to something that was in complete stagnation, the browser. Beautiful work.
Hey Josh and the rest of the Arc team. I absolutely love Arc and am using it everywhere I go. I understand that with your Swift-everywhere approach, Android might be hard, but not having at least some way to sync my tabs over to Android affects me daily. Global mobile market share says that Android is the dominant mobile platform, so not having any support there will really constrain your growth. And the tension here will grow exponentially when you put out the Windows release
expanding on this, if they release on Android it might allow them to do a ChromeOS release which would further grow the fanbase. Right on MKB's team, David was using a Chromebook and releasing on the Play Store opens up that option for him and others to make the full switch.
I think it would be a good opportunity for this company to do what even chrome is struggling to do that is to create a seamless transition between all the devices on which you use ARC. So for example some of the features such as the saved tabs, or spaces, can really be a gamechanger when it comes to communication between android and windows.
Yeah you're right because I was going to download it on my PC but since it doesn't sound like its coming to android I didn't bother. I do have an older mac mini and an iphone 13 but they aren't my daily drivers. If they announce development for Android I'd consider trying it though.
I usually say this: It let you create different spaces with different accounts and histories, one for my company, one for my podcast and one for my daily use and I don't need to log in and log out from each account plus, the attention of small details is insane. But if I have to be honest I don't think that Arc solves the problem of the tabs. I still have a lot of tabs opened and the vertical layout does not help me either, I'd like to have small previews instead favicons and titles that most of the time don't help me to understand if I need that opened tab anymore
I agree. I would have a bunch of tabs and some folders lying around my pinned section for my projects, and having a preview mode would be great for reference
I only use my browser for personal use 99.9% of the time, so that feature isn't a selling point for me. Any other reasons this would be a good browser for someone who doesn't need an easy way to switch between work and personal use.

I want to try it, but I don't use anything Apple, and it seems like that's all they'll support for a while unfortunately. Until they come to both Windows and Android, I'll have to stick to Firefox. The easiness to set spaces for your personal, work, and side job is the main thing I told people the plus point of Arc. The other thing the immersiveness since Arc could make you feel like using a native app with the sidebar hidden without having to download the real app Usually I switch back to Chrome after 1 month trying new browser, but it's a solid 4-5 months now with Arc. Can't wait for the mobile version.
Safari and Chrome both have what is called "Tabs Group" it's the same way as Arc spaces. I use it in Safari all the time, and it syncs across your iCloud devices.
@@stryyker9 There are some similar features, sure, but the implementation and execution are miles apart and everything is just done with a different mindset. For Chrome to have different profiles open simultaneously, I think you need multiple windows open. Not so with Arc.
@@BryceDriesenga Yeah but firefox has had this feature for literal years now. Doesn't seem like enough reason for another chromium browser to exist imo.

I have a windows laptop too but since the iPad Pro is more portable I put most of my tasks here instead of my laptop. Looking forward to trying this out!
My 3 favorite features of Arc: 1. Pinned tabs have their own home/anchor URL that you can easily hop back to 2. PiP that automatically opens can you navigate away from a playing video 3. Walled-garden style profiles that you can isolate in separate spaces. There is already so much power in organization with the spaces concept, and having separate profiles increases that by an order of magnitude.

I really hope you end up porting it to Linux and Android. It seems to me that, even with just Windows, porting Arc to a different language and toolkit (maybe Kotlin and QT like many apps or GTK like most browsers) would be easier than porting Swift to Windows in an actually stable way, and that would also allow for a much easier transition to other platforms. Vertical tabs in browsers like Firefox are really nice, but Arc seems to add some really nice extra features.

Also, I should say that I signed up after watching their review of Arc and I had never heard of it until then. I am looking forward to being able to test it out. I'm constantly switching between Chrome, Firefox and Safari, mainly due to performance issues and I've been getting some major lagging in Chrome lately when on Zoom calls. I'll be curious to see how Arc stacks up to the others, performance-wise.
I'm interested. Oddly I found this before the Waveform clip/show segment. I do think you should know that he uses both iPhone and Android, together, daily. So the lack of cross platform use will be a deal breaker. For me, I have a Mac, which I use periodically, a Windows laptop and an Android phone as my dailies. I'm with Marques on the requirement for cross platform. While I know Chrome is heavy, I'm invested in Google's ecosystem and love that I can just pick up from wherever I left off on any device. Get this and I'm in.
You got attention (thanks to marques) and I checked your product. I switched back to my previous browser within a day, because a browser has to be cross platform (I’ve got desktop running Linux too and I’ll not sit deliberately in front of my mac every time). You’re missing out on a big opportunity to gain customers (personally I won’t try it again because I’m just lazy). However I wish you guys success because this space needs shakeup!
I’ve never used it and i am not fully sure of how it even works . Although , one thing i have to say is that i really like it when both the CEO and the company are both that open with their consumers, it makes it more human and i think there’s a big lack of that in many companies. I’ve watched this video of MKBHD and i hope this brings even more light and recognition on "the browser company". Can’t wait for it to launch on windows so i can try it as-well !
I’ll be switching over to it on my MacBook because I’ve started a business doing ITaaS and SaaS for multiple other companies. The spaces that allow different logins and whatnot for each space is a game changer. Instead of multiple logins on my laptop I can have this browser handle the accounts. Perfect. Thank you. Please bring it to android. MacOS and Android are a better combo than you realize.
I’ll be honest. Yes, I tried it on my iPhone and iPad. My main concern was safety. In the beginning, I noticed that there were false answers being given. I took it as growing pains. Today, I use it continuously. It’s effortless and it answers all questions directly with the option of going deeper into your query. A job well done.
Although I love the functionality of Arc so far, there are some issues I have with it: 1. Randomly the options to close or minimize the browser will disappear(Those red, green, yellow buttons in upper left section of any application), so I'll have to Force Quit the application and then open it open it again. (Happens a few times a week) 2. I cannot sync my Arc browser tabs, profiles, or passwords between different laptops 3. I guess number 3 would be that there's no mobile app out yet (and since I have an Android, it seems I'll have to wait longer as usual)
Used Arc for a bit. I wish I could separate the bookmarks and tabs being the same thing in a particular space. Also don't like how toggling dev tools (if dev tools is already open but not focused) closes dev tools instead of refocuses it. That second one was the deal breaker for me.
I am glad Arc got this coverage, because for what I saw it's a really power user take on the browsing experience. Can't wait to try it out on Windows when it comes out. But since I am pretty locked into the new Bing and Edge AI features right now, I don't know if I will be actually willing to lose those in order to switch to Arc though. And yes... that new Edge browser is a real game changer for search.
Looking forward to a windows release. You have created something that looks like the first browser I am excited about, ever. That cannot have been easy. Well done!
arc browser looks like a good amalgamation of a lot of firefox productivity plugins, but since the company does really care about linux or android, it's a big pass for me.
Okay I'm sorry for the inconvenience, I am not a native English speaker, what do you mean by 'big pass', I mean do you like it or not... Because in smash or pass you say smash when you like something and you say pass when you don't like something...
I love Arc my few reservations are that sometimes the page does not display correctly even thought I thought it was Chromium under the hood there must be some differences sometimes. But a particular aspect I struggle with is the lack of a page loading bar in dev mode and not being able to refresh the page without using the keyboard shortcut apparently? Otherwise love the fact spaces can be set (an improvement to this would be to actually separate the signed in sessions between spaces so that we can log into different accounts) and another feature is clearing tabs by itself, really needed. A really good nice to have that I use a lot is side by side views. Thanks for the hard work you've been putting on it 🙏
Damn, I come to see myself interacting with this channel again, after watching the introduction video. It has been a while, hope everything's been going well around these parts 😄

This video was enough to make me sign up for the waiting list. Well done on coming up with something that looks genuinely innovative in a pretty mature and saturated space.
This browser looks really cool! It's a shame it's not coming to Linux or Android (as those are the main operating systems I use), and the Windows release is far out. All of the features seem really cool, I just don't own any, and will never own any Apple products (I like that Linux and Android are more open, and I need powerful graphics hardware for my work, which Apple doesn't offer). I'll keeo following this project, but I'm afraid if it doesn't come to Android or Linux, I'm going to have to keep using Firefox.
4:40 "Hope he doesn't use an Android phone." Guess I can stop considering this browser then. If you're not going to support the most popular OS on the planet, then I have no use for your product.

I've had access to Arc for a couple months. About a week ago, I decided to spend the time and figure it out. I'm glad I did. I LOVE this browser. The only thing to overcome is the lack of an iPad app. I'm hoping that will come "soon."
I switched to Arc 2-3 weeks ago after accidentally seeing it on some Twitch stream. It ticks lots pf boxes for me. But what I really miss is a different logo. The “cartoonish” one currently doesn’t seem to represent what Arc is. And for a visual person as me it actually matters, and makes me sometimes bit sad.
I smell Michel Scott 👀
Although I love the functionality of Arc so far, there are some issues I have with it:
1. Randomly the options to close or minimize the browser will disappear(Those red, green, yellow buttons in upper left section of any application), so I'll have to Force Quit the application and then open it open it again. (Happens a few times a week)
2. I cannot sync my Arc browser tabs, profiles, or passwords between different laptops
3. I guess number 3 would be that there's no mobile app out yet (and since I have an Android, it seems I'll have to wait longer as usual)
I hope Arc Browser really comes to Windows soon, been on the waitlist, really excited to use it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Used Arc for a bit.
This podcast was what introduced me to Arc in the first place, and I can confidently say that I dont want to ever use any other browser.
Is there a linux version?
Here from the MKBHD podcast, and I can't wait to try this browser when it releases on Windows!
Thanks for the hard work you've been putting on it 🙏
Can you please send me a invite for my windows computer
I came to the channel from CEO’s email today (who click links from newsletters right?) so, I believe I deserve an Arc sticker. Thank you good CEO
"Hope you don't have an Android" 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
No mention of Linux. Not interested.
Womp womp
That’s because Arc only runs on Apple devices (Mac and iPhone). They built on Chromium but they used Swift
His daily drive is an Android... So you should make one
@@Boyinthecircle i got the beta on android lol
“😬hope he doesn’t use an android phone” lol
So I guess Android app is not happening any time soon from his comment 😢
Damn, I come to see myself interacting with this channel again, after watching the introduction video. It has been a while, hope everything's been going well around these parts 😄
Hey, just want to let you know that I've been waiting on this for 3 (maybe 4) months now; I use a Windows 2-in-1 (x360 foldable) laptop and your UI and feature set will be perfect for my workflow.
I'm also glad to hear that a mobile version is on its way (and I hope it's going to be a simultaneous iOS and Android drop this time).
Keep up the good work 🙌🏽🫶🏽
Also, yeah, David Imel is such a likeable passionate fellow, I've been a fan of his channel for half a year now and I love the attention he gives to reviews with quality over quantity
FYI the ceo is actually andrew bernard
Underrated comment.
I really hope you guys make an android version next to the ios, because only supporting ios is a bit of a bummer. Loving what this browser can do so far!
At some point they'll get to developing CSS with Mozilla and Chrome and fix scroll snap...
4:40 "Hope he doesn't use an Android phone." Guess I can stop considering this browser then. If you're not going to support the most popular OS on the planet, then I have no use for your product.
I'm a premed student and my tabs are a nightmare and so are my downloads. I constantly have to read through research papers, emails, etc. and I hope that switching over to arc works well for me!
When your customers are passionate about promoting your product, you know that's a great product
This review is the reason I switched over to Arc. Made me more productive as a creative. Thank you!
Make a linux version pls!!!
I have been using Arc from day one. Never looked back but it still struggle to explain why. That is so interesting.
Why not an android app?
bc android sucks. I am an android user.
For bookmarks can we just go with a raindrop integration? I have been using raindrop with arc and its pretty swell as of now!
Alexandra gets it 💚
Came here from the Waveform podcast as well. You guys HAVE to make a Windows and an Android version! Please don't keep us out of this!
This was SO fun, and love the ownership over "if they can't explain it, and they are excited about it, it means we built something special". That is 100% me this past weekend when trying to convince another skeptical friend to try Arc 😆
This edit was also fantastic 🙌 appreciate your team making such fun content and congrats on the MKBHD podcast mention-Marques will for sure be using Arc 6 months from now. It'll be so fun too, to hear a follow-up on this video from them 🔥
Instagram of the engineer who didn't quit?🤓
Saying "hope he doesn't use an android phone" is the worst thing I have ever heard a business owner say.
I could totally use this. Please make Windows, Linux, and Android versions 😭
When arc will be released for windows?
First time hearing about you guys. This is great, will def be using Arc from now on and will be rooting for y'all
When would be released on Windows... Right now I'm using Edge because I have the vertical tabs and the split screen.
I actually heard about Arc from the MKBHD podcast and I’m trying it now. I got excited for your reaction, congratulations for the great job your doing!!!
as a main windows/android user , i feel disappointed a lot
I watched that and saw MKBHD's team using it and suddenly became super interested. Now I'm on the waitlist... let me try it!!!
So glad this showed up for me today! Switching over literally right now this wasn't even something I knew I needed until I saw it!
Harder to be excited about it when you are locked to specific platforms and behind an email sign up.
did not know Andy Bernard is now ceo of a browser company
At some point I’ll try to change the icon by mysef.
This randomly popped up in my suggested watches and... I would be hype to upgrade once it's across more platforms. I would also love some sort of key feature guide, even if it's tiktoks or shorts just showing how to best optimize the browser...
Hey, Josh. Can we please get end to end encryption for browser data syncing? Possibly even an option to use it without an account?
