In the US, EV demand is waning. People don't like the inconvenience of charging, no. of chargers, lack of infrastructure, unknown battery life which is climate dependent and high cost of battery replacement.
Resale value of EV's is also in question because nobody wants to buy a used EV with aging battery knowing the price of a battery replacement is very high.
As an automotive engineer, my view is, we are living in the stone age for EV's. Or putting it another way, we are living in the time of listening to music on vinyl records versus digital sound of today. If the battery riddle becomes solved more effectively, likely in 10-20 years, EV's will become more viable. Hard to overcome the '100 x's' energy density superiority of gas versus Li-Ion battery storage. But that day may come at some point with a major breakthrough in battery technology, but there are huge technical challenges to achieving this cell chemistry conundrum and why it isn't achievable now.

PS. If you are curious Anna, give BMW a call and ask them how much a 63KW-hr replacement battery is for that BMW. Btw, that is not a huge battery for that weight vehicle. My guess is...about $25K USD. Maybe more with installation.
If you are rich, flip your cars every 3 years while under warranty, have a supercharger in your garage at home, don't take long trips etc, EV's become more attractive. This is a small demographic of the car driving public of course.
Hi Luke, absolutely! This whole idea of EVs replacing a combustion engine is an utter and absolute nonsense. EVs are an addition but certainly not a substitution. Those who believe by 2030 (or whatever the latest imagination was) are living in a fantasy land. I am a fan of smart matching - petrol, hybrid, diesel, EVs - different horses for different courses. Yet, some EV nutters want to so badly shove EVs is everyone's face. If they were this good, they wouldn't have to do that.

Merry Christmas 🎅. If I had (must / need) to buy an electric ⚡car, I would probably choose a Tesla Model 3 Highland. And I am not a very big fan of electric vehicles nor Tesla. But they seem to be a good value.

Hello Anna, another great review in the books. :) I'm not sure about the rush from so many car manufactures trying to rush to market with their version of electric vehicle, on the EV platform. There are so many case events from average customers especially here in the US with daily complaints about the EV marketing ranges. I have a co-worker who lives in the central US near Iowa where they have been getting below zero temperatures for weeks now. He complains about the shorten range of the vehicle during the cold months of the year,(simple chemical reaction of the battery properties of course) and that's simply to me, not prime time. Have a friend who just purchased a new Rivian and after only four months, battery issues that prevented the truck from starting. :( :( Anyway, just wanted to say Hi, and wish you all the best in 2024, Michael ..............

This does look quite nice. I would like a relatively luxurious EV as a second car for city and medium distance driving. The typical range lies wouldn’t matter too much in this case. As a single ownership car, it’s the usual fail.
Hi Stu, my thoughts exactly. I have noticed BMW, Mercedes seem to stretch their range a little too much. Generally speaking, I find Korean EVs - Hyundai, Kia, Genesis far fitter than the Germans. They charge better and give us a better range.
Anna…what it does it make me wonder why they dropped the I3….a town car with enough practicality. This new one is much better in most ways but now is far more expensive and trying to do too much of a universal job. No..I would not buy it as an only car…and cheaper EV’s are out there..China will flood us soon so I don’t see a long life for this car. 🥹🥹😳

Year end bloopers compilation is due.
The infotainment screen is very wide, but also very narrow. So, while charging it is not good for youtube, movies, games - not even good for maps while driving really, I think Tesla leads the way in screen size and usability, followed by Chinese EV's.
To ja standardowo poprawię. Ma nie silnik a silniki bo na każdą oś przypada po jednym, a ładowanie AC ma 11kW a nie 7.4kW.
Dziekuje, Wesolych Swiat Adas. Dobrze poprawic ale to i tak nie ma znaczenia dla wiekszosci z nas, to tylko liczby a ludziom tak naprawde zalezy na czasu ladowania i zasiegu. I niestety, elektryki chcialy tak mocno przejac rynek, a beda tylko malym drogim dodatkiem w wiekszosci wypadkow. Bo nie oferuja competitive advantage.

Ja nie osoba co sie bedzie klocic ;-) szczegolnie o EV. Nie jestem przeciwnikiem EVs ale jestem napewno przeciwnikiem jak wciskac chca rzady ludziom EVs, a sami wola jezdzic S-kami 🤣 z 3L. Prawda jest taka ze doradzic to kazdy chce kazdemu, ale jak te porady nie sa dopasowane do potrzeb, to klapa jednak. Ja juz roznymi elektrykami przejechalam polowe Europy. I powiem tak, jak jest wszystko zgodnie z planem, to jest ok. Ale tych przypadkow kiedy nie idzie zgodnie z planem to bylo, oj bylo. I wtedy czlowieka krew zalewa. I oj teskni sie teskni za paliwkiem ;-)

Ale absolutnie nie zamierzam nikogo namawiać na zakup auta EV. To raczej ludzie do mnie przychodzą i pytają " z czym to się je " 😜

Well BMW still seem stuck in their old design language…it is alright but still looks too much like a revamped car from 1999. What car would I like from Santa?…Ferrari Purosangue would be worth a go!!😃😃😃😃

Nice review and not a bad EV, I just don't get on with the design (but that's sadly the case with most BMW's). They have track record of making good cars with nice handling but the lines are just too incoherent, aggressive and overblown in my view. It leaves a pretentious and pompous vibe with me that I just find repelling.
