Chevy firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. That is even written across the intake on most. So easy to get it in time. Take number one plug out put your thumb Over the Hole have somebody bump it over until your thumb gets blowed off. Once that is done turn the crank until your balancer is on zero with the timing mark. Make sure the piston is up not down with a screwdriver! Then drop your distributor in pointing at number one cylinder if it does not drop in the whole way just pick up slightly and keep rotating the rotor button l until it drops in facing number one cylinder this may take a few tries but it will keep dropping down in and it will be off but if you keep just lifting up a little bit and turning the rotor button it will eventually fall in on number one what you're doing is turning the drive on the oil pump to match with the cam. Good luck it's easy all it takes is a little bit of patience.

    • @bristol831
      @bristol831 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

By the way you want to turn the rotor button clockwise same as the rotation of the firing order is clockwise. Make sure you don't have the plug wires mixed up either!

For those door strikers, a cheaper alternative is to go down to your local hardware store and ask for 6 inches of 1/2 inch PEX. They will probably give it to you for free. Cut it to length and split it down one side so you can slip it over the striker. Done. Works so good I have stopped buying the aftermarket parts.
Sounds to me like the distributor is off by 180 degrees. An easy mistake to make.
Awesome series. I am in the process of doing a frame off restoration of my 1976 K20 Chevy. It will probably end up costing me $20,000. It will be cool to see what you can do for 10% of that amount.

My first truck I bought with my own money was a 1500 1977 GMC pick up. The second truck I bought was a 2500 1984 Chevy pick up.
Between then and now I have had a lot of trucks.
My heart has always been on the square body trucks.
Thanks for this video. I'm looking for the rest of them.
    Oh by the way..."timing"😅

TIMING: Just pull the distributer and flip it 180 and put it back In then get a timing light put it on cylinder 1 and make sure your timing is set at 0 also your 350 has a carb so you will have to also plug the vac adv line coming from your distributer to set the timing at 0 once your done with that plug you vac adv line back In and you should be good from there... Oh and one more thing, it's ok to have up to 20 deg in timing from an old worn out 350, if you are still having a prob than after that than change your timing chain ...

it's easy bro just put your #1 piston at top dead center and stab the distributor all the way and wher ever the rotor is pointing to that your #1 plug...then it's just 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 clock wise on the distributor.... good luck bro...

I did 20x12 -51 offset Vision Prowlers on my 87 k10 with a 305x50x20 and the back sits very close to flush. The front pokes out. But it’s a Chevy so that’s natural.

I hope people aren't actually using what you say as advice. Wheel spacers? Your seat repair? Pull a part for a seat. Buy correct wheels. I would bet what you paid for spacers plus what you paid for the wrong wheels would have been enough to buy correct wheels.
Timing 180 out and you had no clue.
This is a joke video right? You don't actually expect people to be like this. This seriously has to be a how not to do it video. I hope you were honest enough to post your build videos with the eBay ad

Give your little boys some wrenches, they will soon have that truck in many pieces and spread all over your yard.
If you are jacking a car up, make sure that you chock the wheels from being able to move, it makes it safer.
A cheap and nasty way of lowering the front end is to cut the coils down, just try one coil at a time, in the back use lowering blocks.
The main problem with working on an old worn out truck is that the bits are all worn out.

The really cheap trick is to get you a piece of 1/2" PEX pipe. Cut it to length of that striker. Split it longways and slip over the striker and it will work almost as good as the correct bushing. And if your like me you had it laying around and it was free.

Every time buddy!! Timing all the way!! I could definitely help you out with setting the timing on that square body!! First you don’t have to take valve cover off just take the number 1 plug out!! The firing order is 18436572 driver side very front one is 1 then next one back towards the cab is 3 then 5 & 7 passenger side very front one is 2 then 4,6&8!! Hopefully that will get you started! On your distributor when you drop it in you want the rotor pointing towards number 1 plug in the block!! & the terminal on top of the cap right above the pointer on the rotor is where you start your spark plug wires!! & that is where you start with the number 1 plug wire going clock wise on top next is 8,4,3,6,5,7,2!!! Now if it back fires threw the carb like it did in this video you have the distributor 180 degrees of!! Hopefully that will help you!! Oh & yes timing!!

I've been daily driving a 77 Buick Skylark with a 307 in it and 57K on the odometer for the last 15 years, I bought the car from the lady next door who bought it new in 76 and sold it to me for $800 when she got too old to drive anymore. The Original idea was to "fix it up" and use it as a Cruise-in/Car Show car but after giving it a once over I realized other than needing the headliner redone because of some slight sagging and fixing a couple of tiny rust holes behind the rear wheel wells and some touch up paint I decided I would sell my daily driver (a 99 Dodge Avenger) and just start driving the Skylark. I spent right at $1100 on the initial investment, counting sales tax, tags and insurance , on the car after a real good clean up of the engine bay, changing the fluids and air filter and a couple rattle cans of pint for the engine, headers, air cleaner, steel wheels and a set of cheap baby moons . This summer my son and grandson and I are going to pull the engine and trans and completely rebuild both and i'm thinking about throwing a budget paint job on it because the original paint is getting kinda worn out. In 15 years I still have less than $2500 in into it not including gas, Insurance and tags and I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. I LOVE my car. I'm glad to see the younger generation is getting back into that mind set instead of putting themselves into debt with a $400 a month car payment every month on a car that is a throw away piece of plastic that they will just have replace after 200,000 miles because that's all they are built for now a days. My son and daughter, who are now 30 and 27 were the same way with thier first vehicle, son bought a 84 F-150 and my daughter bought a 75 Mustang II on the cheap off Craigslist when they turned 16, Son still owns and drives his F-150. That a COOL lil Honda Civic Station Wagon sitting in the background btw, takes me back to my childhood, my bestfriends dad had one when I was a kid.

I've recently been advised by an old timer to get a C10, been looking all over for em and many are going for 10-15k sometimes 30k+ but a few are around 2500. These are running prices.
