But before you turn 16, you can ONLY consent to people your age. And it is understandable because they have similar levels of maturity. But the difference between a 13 year old and a 14 year old is quite a lot even being a year apart.

@@miku39chan I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say, save for that you think Zoe Laverne should be given more leeway. It is not normal or acceptable (or an oopsy) for a 19-year-old to have any form of non-platonic relationship with a 13-year-old (even platonically it's a bit weird). Zoe fully understands the maturity gap as evidenced by her mocking a 13-year-old and saying they should go play with barbies. There are no blurred lines here- she sees 13-year-olds as immature and yet chooses to have a relationship with one. Also, just cause it's legal doesn't mean it's right and the age of consent can have layers. Technically a 12-year-old can consent in my country too- but there's a two-year buffer so they could not consent to relations with someone older than them by two years (this two-year buffer continues up till the person turns 16). Sure, your brain completely develops by around age 25, but it doesn't mean there aren't vast differences in maturity from age 13 to 19. I'm 17 and I see the 12-year-olds at my school as children. Our understanding and perception of the world are so vastly different- our ability to assess what is good for us and what is harmful is too. You can't be perfect as a teen but it isn't hard to avoid predatory behavior.

I used to have a best friend who was just like this. She lied about what other people were doing to her in order to gain sympathy and support from people. For example she told us that her husband was abusive and she was leaving him, that her grandmother was dying and she spent her nights in the hospital with her. None of it was true. Her husband was completely unaware anything was going on and she was actually spending her nights at a dude's house, cheating on her husband. Only once she couldn't keep the lies going and just up and left with her side guy did we realize what was actually going on. She abandoned her husband, kids and friends because she didn't want to be held responsible for her lies and she honestly didn't seem to care or feel bad about it. Keeping someone supporting her at all times, no matter what lies she spewed or what she did, was more important than anything, apparently.

I live in the same town as Zoe and can confirm some of the claims about her going for people younger than her. In 2018 she asked a friend of mine’s younger sister and their friends to have a sleepover with her. She met them while they were taking a walk and she knew they were fans. But before you turn 16, you can ONLY consent to people your age. And it is understandable because they have similar levels of maturity. It is not normal or acceptable (or an oopsy) for a 19-year-old to have any form of non-platonic relationship with a 13-year-old (even platonically it's a bit weird). Zoe fully understands the maturity gap as evidenced by her mocking a 13-year-old and saying they should go play with barbies. There are no blurred lines here- she sees 13-year-olds as immature and yet chooses to have a relationship with one.
Also, just cause it's legal doesn't mean it's right and the age of consent can have layers. Technically a 12-year-old can consent in my country too- but there's a two-year buffer so they could not consent to relations with someone older than them by two years (this two-year buffer continues up till the person turns 16).
Sure, your brain completely develops by around age 25, but it doesn't mean there aren't vast differences in maturity from age 13 to 19. I'm 17 and I see the 12-year-olds at my school as children. Our understanding and perception of the world are so vastly different- our ability to assess what is good for us and what is harmful is too. You can't be perfect as a teen but it isn't hard to avoid predatory behavior.

Because that's what female abusers do. They corner you so you're only way out is to attack them verbally or physically so they can play the victim. And that is how they manipulate you. I used to have a best friend who was just like this. She lied about what other people were doing to her in order to gain sympathy and support from people. For example she told us that her husband was abusive and she was leaving him, that her grandmother was dying and she spent her nights in the hospital with her. None of it was true. Her husband was completely unaware anything was going on and she was actually spending her nights at a dude's house, cheating on her husband. Only once she couldn't keep the lies going and just up and left with her side guy did we realize what was actually going on. She abandoned her husband, kids and friends because she didn't want to be held responsible for her lies and she honestly didn't seem to care or feel bad about it. Keeping someone supporting her at all times, no matter what lies she spewed or what she did, was more important than anything, apparently.
I think because influencers like Zoe Laverne and James Charles became famous so young, they're stuck in some sort of arrested development. They act like 15 year olds despite being closer to 20 and chase after young teens as if they were still that age. It's very unsettling.

What actually blew my mind is I was watching a series that popped up on my feed here on TH-cam and I believe it’s called “Real Life Documentaries” and this particular series was about Teen Mom/Teen Parenting it took place in the UK, my take on it was that it was a UK Vee iOSon of the US mtv series Teen mom. I knew several girls growing up who had boyfriends way older than us (like, 18+ when we were 14) and only one of them even got charged with anything to my knowledge. That being said, he was a teen at the time, and while that does not excuse his behavior, it does imply a level of impulsiveness and immaturity. The fact that he admitted he shouldn't have done it and that their relationship was toxic from both sides (not just Zoe's) makes me believe him when he says he "intends to learn from his mistakes."

i went through a very similar situation when i was 13, a 19yo came on to me for several months, told me he loved me, etc, it is extremely manipulative, disgusting, and traumatizing to through and it is beyond disgusting and sad to see happing to another child. predators and grooming are unacceptable and its horrific to see someone so prevalent taking advantage of her supporters like this.

He would distance himself then come back and run me in circles about how he felt and it took years for me to think someone would actually want to be seen with me and unlearn a lot of really toxic behaviors he taught me
