  • Installing and configuring the Grand Orgue pipe organ emulation software, for use with an Electone.
    This is based on what worked for me, rather than attempting to be a comprehensive guide.
    UPDATE MAY 2024
    The current releases can now be found here - github.com/GrandOrgue/grandorgue
    As of 6th May 2024, the current release is 3.14.2-1
    The menus have changed slightly from my descriptions. However the functions have not changed, and of course there are many improvements.

    Easy to follow tutorial!!! I just set up mine this morning with my Yamaha ELB 01. The sound is so good and full like inside a big church eventhough im just using a cheap speaker.

      I think I made it! I can hear organ sound when I play my Electone keyboards.
      I have a question. I expected I can hear the organ sound from my Electone speaker, but it comes out only from my computer speaker that is poor quality. I think something is wrong with my settings. Or is this what it is?

    • @Akitakomachi2017
      @Akitakomachi2017 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I figured out by myself. I just used another cable that I use for my recording with Audacity, I connected "Out" of my computer to "AUX IN" on my Electone. Now I can hear it from my Electone speaker perfectly!
      However this means I can't record when I play. I should get one cable for my recording.
      Thank you! I think I don't need to buy the new computer for a while.

    Thanks, I enjoyed this video. I had to learn all this by trial and error!
    Wish I had seen your video first!
    I'm connecting an Arturia keyboard controller instead of an electone organ, but the procedure is the same!
    One TIP:
    Once you store a sample set in a folder, and you've set it up and saved it, do NOT move or rename the folder! Leave it alone.
    If you mess with it, Grand Orgue will be confused and you'll have to re-map and re-save the organ file., Yes, I found this out the hard way too - LOL!
    I love Grand Orgue.

      Hi. Yes, good advice there. Another thing I've found is always plug things into the same USB port. If you change, then sometimes you have to change the Grand Orgue settings to recognise everything again.
      From your name, I thought you might be local to me. I can see the river Clyde from my windows. But I found your Clyde was a cat, and you are not so local at all! Well good luck with your ventures.

    OMG! I've just found. when I use this software, I can play more than 2 notes at once on the pedals!!! It changes the common practice of usual Electone (I mean except EL900m)!!! I'm deeply impressed.

    • @orgfred65
      @orgfred65  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I saw that comment on your recent video. As soon as you can play two pedals you can hear the difference when playing legato pedals. Yes it is wonderful just how good the software is.

      Just a thought - you can add a theatre organ using the same software, although having an AR100, it might not be so useful.

    Thank you for this helpful video. I connected my Viscount Vivace 30 to GrandOrgue and was able to map the expression pedal. However the effect is opposite. When I open up the pedal the sound decrease. Do you have an idea how to fix it? Thank you!

    • @orgfred65
      @orgfred65  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. I have just tested and I think you may have mapped incorrectly. What you need to do is to start with the expression pedal in the middle. Then right click over the swell pedal graphic in Grand Orgue, and then in the dialog click 'detect complex event'. The dialog instructs you to fully open the swell pedal (move expression pedal to max), then wait until the dialog tells you to fully close the swell pedal before moving it again. Let me know if this helps.

    Hi ian im getting an ELC02 stagea when I get to florida soon from UK i am thinking of getting virtual paramount theatre from hauptwerk, thanks for your video, it looks complicated, if you gig with this kind of software attached how quickly can you switch to the organ itself during a concert?

    • @orgfred65
      @orgfred65  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I connect the audio from the computer to the Electone Aux input. Normally you can easily set the computer audio level to 0. But if you are using the ELC02, you'll be using external amplification/speakers, so perhaps you could use a small mixer. Then you could quickly silence the PC and turn up the ELC02 instead.

    Very nice. My biggest question since Im new at this. How do you set up a sample set like 3 manual Freisach on a 2 manual organ? Can you play all 3 manuals of stops/ I have an Electone.

    • @orgfred65
      @orgfred65  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are two approaches. In Grand Orgue you could set the Freisach Solo manual to respond to MIDI channel 1, and also set the Swell manual to respond to MIDI channel 1. Then you have access to stops on both Freisach divisions from the Electone top keyboard. Alternatively you can use the couplers built in to the Freisach model to 'couple' the Solo to the Electone top keyboard, for example There are a few choices as to how to map the Grand Orgue sample set, but you will always be able to use any of the stops from the three manual sample set on your Electone.

      For the theatre organ pieces I use the Barton samples. For the classical pieces I mainly use Friesach if I want a big sound, and Giubiasco when I want a delicate sound. Those two sample sets are by piotrgrabowski.pl/instruments/ and I highly recommend them both.

    Can you help me how to turn off the noise of the keys when pressing it like there is a sound of bump that annoys me while playing

    • @orgfred65
      @orgfred65  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, There are a couple of options. You can adjust volume of any of the stops, so find which stops create the noise, and then lower the volume to be silent. Or you can select to not load the ranks that create the noise. The exact process is specific to the organ sample set that you are using, but hopefully this is enough information to help? If not though, reply here and tell me which sample set you are using.

    Hey Davies, can I ask, when I try the software, every time I do an octave , it randomly plays another note, is there any way to fix this?

    • @orgfred65
      @orgfred65  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never had this problem. However I have read that some people have reported problems like this when using a poorer quality midi interface. You may be able to find software that displays all the midi values received. If this shows incorrect midi notes then trying a better midi interface is likely to solve the problem.

    may I know if your audio is connected directly to your electone?

    • @orgfred65
      @orgfred65  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, for convenience I connect the audio to the Electone, then listen using headphones plugged into the Electone. You should use the Aux In to the Electone, not the Rhythm in, as otherwise the expression pedal does not work like an organ Swell pedal. The pipe organ sounds perfectly through the Electone speakers.
