    The Army announced Wednesday it was scrapping the “leg tuck” from its Army Combat Fitness Test for good, and replacing it with a plank, after data showed women were failing at even doing one.

      They should not change the tests, just change the duties that you qualify for.
      Lower score in physical, can still help out, but I would not want them running next to me in battle if they can't run in the test.
      Like with firemen. If you cannot carry a hose up 8 floors, than you should not be going into buildings, but you may be able to drive a truck, or work the radio, or even be a medic.

    Thanks for video! I just completed basic and still can barely do leg tuck. Unfortunately we didn’t have equipment to practice ACFT. We made a pull up bar in the bathroom to practiced. We only got to do climbing drills probably once a week and at times never did the complete set.

    I'm glad I ended my time in 2005. As a 45yr old with 38inch waist, boy that would be hard without training, and muscle building. The old APFT, I could not train, and still get down for 1 time, and knock out 50 push-ups, and 65 situps. Ok the 2mi timer was not like it was when I was 19, running a 5min mile, but even at age 40, I could complete the 2mi run in 15min.
    I feel bad for my 50yr old, Nurses, Doctors, and Medical Corp that is not training like they gave to run the Mogadishu mile, and being shot at.

    If I went from 7 legs tucks in my first acft to 20 in my second one then it shouldn't be that hard. Just practice practice and practice.
    I would always do 5 leg tucks after final formation in basic and that helped a lot.

    Considering there's 3 different ways of doing this and they use different muscle groups I can't help but feel that this is just a bad exercise to include in the test. That's government for you I guess.

    • @Darling137
      @Darling137 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it was a compromise when they couldn't get pull-ups approved. The GO who was in charge of developing the test, while acknowledging that pull-ups were a great measure of upper-body strength, in the very next breath said he wasn't "comfortable" with using it on the test because it would be, in essence, "unfair" to women. After seeing how the Marines had to cave on their "everybody does pull-ups" approach, it's not wonder the Army didn't even try.
