    If the army had 100 events in their physical test, there would still be a 2 mile run at the end of it.

      To be fair weightlifters were a bit fucked over on the apft. My top score was 315 but that was only because I hadn’t lifted weights in months and lost a bunch of muscle. My first ever test I got 245 but I was definitely more combat ready with that test then when I got 315. I saw tons of scrawny cross country fucks get like 350 but when I came to actually do anything combat related they either hurt themselves or couldn’t complete the task at hand. I do agree the gym is the key but this new test was much needed. It was tiresome seeing these 6’0 150 pound guys get high scores when the guys pulling 500 off the floor get fucked over. Now this test will be even for anyone’s sport. Runners will have to lift. Lifters will have to run. I love this new PT test!

    Soldiers are finding loopholes in the regulations. FM 7-22, para. 9-52 states "Hands are placed next to each other with thumbs around the bar for the alternating grips". However, it does not define the meaning of "next to each other" in distance. For example, the push-up, it clearly states that your feet may be together or up to 12 inches apart.

    • @Jaigarful
      @Jaigarful 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Much like how OP said, the new ACFT is an endurance test. Even back when I was in the army (2005-2009) on the old PT test I wouldn't always push myself the hardest on pushups/situps because I struggled to recover in time for the run. Doing 1-2 less reps hurt my score, but it left me with enough stamina to do better on the run. I am not a naturally athletic person so it was always a struggle for me.

    Hello SSG Crane, when will this start at basic training ? I'm looking forward to join the military by the end of the year or early next year. I'm 31 and former collegiate soccer player. I'm actually not a big fan of the pft but instead like the new acft. Most of my college days workout were similar to the acft. Also I have degrees in exercise science and Physical Education.

    But you can see right off the bat the mentality of the people that are making these PT testlook out into that Jim is because if you go to a gym a military gym during the morning during PT it is so crowded it's ridiculous it's nearly impossible to get a full workout on every machineand you're basically asking a bunch of soldiers that don't have enough gym or equipment to go to the gym everyday that don't have the time and honestly there MLS is don't let them unlike these special ops units that basically go to the gym and lift for an hour to two hours every dayI mean unless you're going to have scheduled times which each unit goes to the individual gyms around the basebasically this has to be at least five times a week so they can gain enough lean muscle mass in every part of their body to basically be able to do these exercisesI mean it's already clear the first three thousand applicants literally had a failure rate of 70% women and 30% of the men and these are active dutysoldiers which are in great shape I'm sorry this test is so unthawed out because its strength training nothing but strength andlean and solid muscle mass to do this and the only way to get that is basically to go lift weightsfive times a week but I mean the person that probably implemented this probably goes to a special gym where he is or enter their officers are only allowed and said what I can't they go to the gym and work out for an hour everyday I due course I can guarantee you he doesn't do it during PT he does it on his own time ordering work where he gets an hour and a half to two hours to golift weights so unless you're going to change this is going to be such a mess and it's already shown and it's going to show because honestly if only thing people are doing for that first hour PT is lifting weights once a week and then having to run and do push-ups and sit-ups because how the hell you going to strength training exercises when you don't have enough equipment for the entire baseI mean this is the most unthawed out thing I've ever seen in my entire life just made by a person that doesn't see logic to be like basically handing everybody M16 and asking them to hit a target dead-center three times but not providing everyone with enough bullets so then basically you never get to actually shoot a bullet at this target we're actually learn how to shoot to target because you can't be consistent and you only get to use your gun once a year and the other soldiersonly a small group gets to use the bullets and practice and so when you take the overall test guess what's going to happen the majority of the people that have practice every single day with the equipment necessary are going to pass the middle people are going to have some people that are going to pass because they had the equipment a little bit and the other ones are going to pass or fail and then the ones that didn't have the equipment and pad very little time with bullets and being able to practice shooting are going to do really bad and you're going to have a majority of them fail which is exactly why this because they don't have enough equipmentis even with the equipment that you're thinking you need these exercises are total body strength exercises which require the use of every single muscle in your body to be strengthened every single day to be able to pass thesebut they also expect you some how to strengthen your whole body by going to the gym once a week and somehow not having shrink training exercises or equipment to be able to do that but then still passed their PT test that uses strength training equipment this is totally stupid.

    • @Fabs361
      @Fabs361 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      brenmangood, per FM 7-22: Hands are placed NEXT to each other with thumbs around the bar for the alternating grips (Figure 9-23).

    • @sugarcruz1921
      @sugarcruz1921 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @TheKauff

      They're easier to me, because you have "relax time" in the middle when the only thing you're doing is moving your hands. Your core / upper body can relax a bit.
      It does take longer for a full rep though, so not as many can be fit in.
      At the same time, not as many are needed to pass, and I see "max score" being de-emphasized across the board.
      I'd save the energy for the rest of the events.

    • @rogersepeda4378
      @rogersepeda4378 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually maxed out on the HRPU , the deadlift , and the plank , I almost maxed out on the run , I got a 99 , I ran a 14:12 , the only thing I got a low score ( still passing) was the ball throw , I got a 70 . Overall I got a 561 . Would’ve been better if I did better on the ball throw .

      For far too long, the Army's mindset has been that only passing is a cop-out. That won't change in a few years, as some of the comments have shown.
