Only got to see the "original' lineup once, on August 6, 1977 at Superbowl of Rock in Chicago. I was totally blown away by the performance they gave.... and gobsmacked the day I heard the terrible tragedy on the radio. Forty three years later, it is still with me like it was yesterday. RIP Ronnie and all those that have followed.... I will never forget!

@@pedrovicnt_ He was already way out of the band by the time the crash happened. He quit during I think it was 75 in the middle of a tour. Ronnie and Ed's roadie wound up in jail the night before and got to the show late. So Ed had to play with old strings and 2 broke during the show.
He was like fuck this and just left. He said although he loved the guys their lifestyle didn't mesh with his at all. The band although pissed had said later on how Ed's businesslike attitude definitely helped them.
I was 29 when this performance graced that venue...Having worked for a certain multinational Company until 2005, I have lived a life that is anything but simple...however, I have learned to live simply and genuinely...Sometimes, I wish I could have my youth back...but then I see the road that lies ahead and am faced with the fact that will never be. Instead we must FORGE ahead in life because clocks do not run backwards...
Lynyrd Skynyrd is my favorite band of all times I'm from the south and live in California now Ronnie Van Zant has made a huge influence and it was sad to see what happened he was so young he had its just sad but by far but Johnny stepping up keeping them around is amazing R.I.P Ronnie Van Zant you'll always be a great influence and thank you for the best southern rock still alive

Johnny has done a great job. It takes a strong person to sing those songs every night in his older brothers place who was his lifetime idol and not break down crying during Simple Man and Free Bird.
