I have always played a Cobra driver going back 25 years. I currently play a SpeedZone with custom weights. Say what you want to about Cobra as a brand, but they know how to make a driver and they do it better than anyone!!!
Was fit into the Darkspeed LS with the new Diamana Whiteboard. I have never swung so fast with such good dispersion. Absolute game changer for me. My favourite club in the bag.

That was great fun!! Hard to overcome Cobra’s ball speed. PXG looked really solid throughout the bracket comp but Ian turned it over just a wee bit more in the final round and it cost a few extra yards offline. I’ve tried most of the new drivers the past two months and the Cobra and PXG are two of my favorites. Hats off to two brands that are not always up there with the big boys of golf. Nice to see it!
Cobra has always been my favorite drivers. Hit my friend’s old LTD several years ago and loved it, have an LTDx LS right now and love it. Wanna give the dark speed LS a shot.

Bought the Cobra LS before seeing these tests. Paired with the Hazardous LS shaft, i hit almost all faiways at an average of 285 yrds. Very happy with my choice, and cheaper than the competition.

I would love an answer to this too. There are so many Driver distances tests its hard to know if its the shaft's performance or the club head's in these results.

@@bestgolfsimulator8835 I would expect the LS to not be viable for most 100mph guys. I'm a higher spin 107-108 swing speed player and the LS can get borderline on spin if I don't loft up.
This is great. I was going to suggest a slow speed bracket with someone who doesn’t hit it in the center as much. I think that is where the max versions would start helping.

Love you guys and love this bracket. I feel like this should be done two more times with a mid handicap and high handicap golfer as we don’t all hit it this pure. I recently got fit for a driver and I’m a high handicap golfer and got fit into Qi10 max. Could never hit this Cobra with any kind of decent results. Keep up the good work fellas.
I loved tuning in for the entire bracket competition. Absolutely great and awesome to see Ian launch those bombs in the final. Super impressed that PXG brought such a cannon this year. Wish I could demo it in a regular golf store against the other brands. Might have to give Cobra another look! I’d love to see Mikey do a bracket challenge. His speed numbers are very similar to mine.
What degree of loft do you use? I ask because I suffer from the same problem. I use a 10.5 degree head and still struggle to get the height. I get 300-310 consistently but know in my heart if I could ever get my launch angle up it would go 20 yards further and potentially carry 300 outdoors. I don’t like adjustable heads personally, so I always game them set to standard. I’m thinking of trying a 12 degree to see if that helps, I’m just worried that the ones I do launch higher will be too high. Just a thought coupled with a question.

Get to see how the new drivers compared in the bracket. However, I really like the idea of a another bracket with a slower swing speed. I might suggest a 93-94mph speed vs the 100mph, as the 93mph is the confirmed and documented 'average guys' swing speed. Thus the bracket results would capture the majority of your viewing audience. Yes, I know overall club weight, shaft, grip and head weights would be outside this review but, this was also the case with the high speed bracket test. Thanks guys.......
All of us mere mortals .. least most of us might hit some of the other drivers better. Nice to watch this stuff but reality is he is beyond 99% of us. IMO
When getting fit for a driver can you list three thing I should be getting done? I have been fitted before but feel it hasn’t gone the way it should. The guys I have aren’t like you, their knowledge isn’t there I feel. Any help would be appreciated.
Crazy how close this was. I also took the averages from each performance of each bracket. Ian SS avg. with the Cobra was .71 mph faster resulting in 1.2 mph more BS, .002 SF and .77 total yards, .76 yards more accurate. These drivers are nearly twins. I guess just pick the one that fits your eye best. Could you say that if both were identical swing speeds the results would be the same? If 1 mph ball speed equates to 2yds. PXG could be longer?
I feel as though using the ai smoke max against all these other low spin beasts didn't give Callaway much of a chance. For kicks, what about doing this with the ai smoke td and see how their low spin offering does. I doubt it would do any better than the finalists.
Wish they would have used Callaway TD with the rest of the LS heads... I bought it over the std Smoke AI and it is an improvement over last years model. May have not beat the Darkspeed LS though....
I was surprised that Cobra had less distance offline than PXG, just based off watching the 20 shots. I will say that Cobra is faster for sure, but the low spin draws with that club would scare me if you were actually playing golf. I wonder which of the two that Ian would pick if he were competing and these were the only two choices. Fun series.
Lets go Darkspeed!!!! I hit the 8 degree darkspeed 157mph and 281c/307t yards days after recovering from covid when I could barely swing at that point I contemplated selling the clothes off my back for it.
Two very close results. PXG came to play this year with their driver.
I'm a cobra player, I have a Speedzone. I'm looking forward to comparing it to the darkspeed and others this year.
I used to use the SZ. I now use the LTDx LS. Even for a low spin head, it's forgiving and feels amazing

I bought the Cobra X, and it's a beast. 9.5 setting with a stiff shaft. A great feeling, driver.
Did you play the ltdx at all? Curious how the two compare.
I've hit it before. For me, the dark speed is better. My longest drive with it was 265 yards. I'm in my mid 60's. I was hitting the sppedzone.
Been a cobra player since day 1 and continue not to disappoint in performance

I recently got Cobra King Tour irons. Guess I'll have to check out the Darkspeed driver. Looking forward to 100mph bracket as thats more my speed.
If you’re doing a 100mph swing contest how about one at 85/90 mph?
I agree with this as I would assume the LS would be eliminated as the lower speed guys wouldn’t keep the LS in the air long enough.

As a fitter COBRA IS NO JOKE! Give them a shot when getting fit. Players are sleeping on the brand. Their entire line is amazing!

Man.. I would love to have 12-14 degrees launch. I can get to 180 ball speed but I am 9-10 degrees launch!

It’s sad Bob did not submit his drivers to MGS this year for testing, I think they missed a big opportunity for a ton more sales.

My question is if PXG is more forgiving. I have played Cobra for years, but they have been more prone to have some nose divers on a bad strike.
