- Why I CANCELLED the order for my New PXG DRIVER after being Custom Fitted!
I recently went for a PXG Black Ops Driver fitting at Rudding Park PXG Fitting Centre, but soon after cancelled the order!
Why have I cancelled the order? The Truth!

Well that was impressive Gaz...I felt sure Sam could improve on the fit at Rudding.
The on-course results just confirmed what you felt at your PXG fitting, you weren't swinging at your best and were right to hold off committing to a driver then 👍👍👍
Get that PXG with Sam's specs, loved the ball flight.

The PXG is a flight I’ve personally never hit before. I think I’ve improved in confidence with driver since sam fitted me for the stealth 2, I’ve taken on board that I needed to tee up and improve my angle of attack, and now I’m doing that, being re optimised with the pxg head is giving me a ball flight I’ve never had before. Very excited to go in to the season confident off the tee, I’ve since fixed my duffs after seeing the fault in edit, exciting times now, can’t wait for some matches 👌🏼

Good to see you get sorted with driver finally lol. That PXG is a monster compared with the Stealth2.
Only bad thing about this all is, that it's making me feel like I need a new driver, still got my Mavrik, though it is a fairway finder 🤔
All I can advise, is please see a good master fitter, it’s not the heads, it’s more the shaft and fit. They must swing weight you and setup your weights in the head to help you get optimal numbers.

I wish he could rectify himself lol 😂 I’m glad this happened early in the season, it literally rectified it the day after editing the first video from this day. I just needed to see on camera my backswing to know what was happening.
I remember saying to you, do not take that stealth out of the bag, but that black ops... 🔥
Honestly, I played yesterday against a plus 1 handicap, didn’t miss a fairway, 2 under, and you’d think, why would I change it, but then you see the Pxg side by side and the ball flight is like nothing I’ve ever hit. I would genuinely back myself against anyone off the tee with it 😂
Wait until you next see me play, games proper come together in this last week ⛳️
it’s good to get a driver that’s adjustable. if you got fit on a bad day then you can work with your coach to make some tweaks to the settings
My Black Ops driver is superb as was my fitting with Stuart McGrath at Rudding
Wish I’d turned up on the day. He got me hitting the PXG driver well, but I just know, if I’d committed to it, I’d of ended up pulling it left as on the day, I was missing the ball so far right! I just don’t know what happened. Had a bad day ☹️
Yea, it is good to do another fitting if you're off that day. We have bad days. Not at a fitting, however, I played in 2 different competitions, and the first one was a poor performance driving, while the second was pretty good day for me. That is how golf goes. To be honest, I think that Sam already found your new driver. LOL
Great video! Sam’s the man. I think you should go get the fitting then insist on Sam’s findings in the build. I’ve been playing 50 years and that’s golf. Get one area going great and one or two more areas go away. If I were you I’d go see Chris Denny and I’d bet he straightens you out in short order.

I’ve managed to sort it out after seeing the video in the edit. My swing plane has just got so steep!

Good move I thought it might not be the right set up long term. If you get the right head and shaft, I’m sure Sam can tweak the weights as needed & as your swing changes. PXG have loads of adjustability, really good.

What degree of loft of the stealth and Pxg. Play the taylormade with the Pxg ball and check length of drive.
Stealth is a 10.5 set to 9* (open face) and I think Pxg was 10* set to 8.5* (open face).
So what happened in the end? What have you exactly changed from to as I am about to order from pxg 🙏😊
I think you also need to take the ball into account.
Hit a few TM drives with the PXG ball and a few PXG drives with the TM ball.
I don’t think an indoor fitting is enough, you need an on course test and also flight against the elements. Wind and grass tees offer a different challenge and focus, simulators are exactly that simulation not reality. My fitter refused to order my club until we had a field test, played three holes with him and we refined things, went for slightly stiffer shaft, and 4 months on, very happy, my playing pals aren’t as i am nearly 40 yards longer than last year. Sounds ridiculous, but it was sorting out spin issues, i had lessons, and my pro didn’t understand my previous spin, it was driver set up. Now happy days
That’s great! Glad you got the right driver in the end. I’ve always been like that, could never commit without seeing it on the course. Although Sam’s fitted me indoors, I did take the final demo products out to test before ordering.
Cant say im surprised at all, I said it back on that video the fitting was nowhere near good enough, I understand you trying to blame your game as opposed to the fitting etc and im sure that was one factor but there were so many things wrong with the whole setup to staart with!
On a positive note just get that black ops ordered, you hit it so so well! Hopefully you and Sam do a quick indoor test for the numbers as a little video 😀

Damn! Good point, I wasn’t thinking in that much detail! I’ll not change the ball again with this kind of scenario.
Gaz I just put a ventus blue in my driver as well.....absolute monster of a shaft.
It’s a lovely shaft! Its no coincidence that half the tour are using them 🔥
Yeah the black was too much for me, but I can't believe the flex profile and launch characteristics of the blue. It really is something else. 😊
That PXG is looking great Gary a bit of tinkering and it will be in the bag

It’s the Black Ops Tour 9+ with the VELOCORE plus yes 👌🏼
No harm in having a driver set up for a windy day and one for when it’s wide open too.
Do sort the short game though! 😂
It’s in your head though, it could be another video if you speak to a sports psychologist about putting previous bad shots out your mind.

I saw during the edit what was happening! My shaft angle was so steep! Once I got the club laid off, my interaction with the ground just came straight back. Nightmare day though after bombing driver all day.
What I do not understand is why golfers get fit with balls they do not play,I would refuse to pay for such a service,for example range balls.
Thought this was about a driver fitting. Seems it's more about U playing golf...

Gary, You need a REALITY check, all this testing nonsense, you can't hit the green from 150yds, then duff the chip.
You play 3 Hole golf !!!!!
Get out there and play 6 rounds of 18 holes and see your average, are really kidding yourself !!!!
I shot 2 under yesturday against a plus 2 handicap and beat him 5/4. I’d love to play 18 hole golf with someone filming on TH-cam, but I can’t justify the filming and editing for the views I get.

@@garymartingolf Ebarrasing !, all this talk about flight, lowering degrees, shaft stiffness, weight etc, if you haven't sorted it out now you never will. Bobby Jones, Mo Norman etc, played with normal everyday clubs, but they had TALENT.
