Wonderful, I (75) have ridden many Alpine passes in my life. I felt young again. I still ride a racing bike today. But of course I can't ride as well as this guy. The guy is absolutely world class.
iknow, i'm just guessing, but that silent respect-exchange within few seconds between porshe and safa,... love it, that's what i love on the road, that common sense, that connection you sometimes feel, that unique world. and safa adds nice pictures and sounds (alot of creativity anyway), alot of entertainment because skilled and he knows and loves what he does and alot of sympathetic humanity. qualities!

Kodos, both of you. I know this descent. Rode it in 1984. Thing I recall the best is the cold in the tunnels near the top. I would have given my eye teeth for modern disc brakes. I risked my life on very mediocre rimmers.

I don't know if you've done it already, but there's a bike trail in SoCal interconnecting to the PCH which you've ridden a few times. It's the San Gabriel Riverbed Bike Trail and it goes to Seal Beach to the Dam in LA. I think you should do that ride. It's next to the San Gabriel Freeway
I was once sprint as hard as i could it was 28mph i thought i'm about to lose any second i try to keep going. WOW 55mph must felt like you are floating
Have you ever considered a dropper for these descents? I know it sounds odd, but I put a wireless dropper on my gravel bike and it’s amazing for those long down hills. I gained quite a lot of time from the aerodynamics. Just not sure it will ever be popular on a road ride.
