They managed to make Miles a lot more likable. I thought we might see a return of Ilya to mix things up but now that he’s being tortured by CIA/KGB that might be it for the black market drama. Poor Margo, I was sad to see Segei go out like that. And what about his wife back in Iowa? Can’t wait for the finale, let me know what you think.
I’m willing to bet Margo and Aleida will sabotage the math in the same manner the Mars Climate Orbital was destroyed in 1999 due to a metric vs English calculation error.
@@jb94103 instead of everyone agreeing with each other the asteroid will be lost, people will die in the process, and nobody will get Goldilocks. That’s my prediction.
Ugh, I'm heartbroken about Sergei, but I thought that might happen to him. I still hate Miles, though. I'm like: "You really think intelligence agencies aren't going to know what you're up to?!"
As soon as Sergei mentioned the Brazilian Space Program, I realized the episode title had a double meaning, and it wasn't gonna end well for Sergei. It didn't end well.
@@ANDR0iD it's to send a message to Margo. Remember that Irina is former KGB, specifically Sergei's handler. She's telling Margo what Liam Neeson in Taken 1 said, "if you run, I will find you and I will kill you."
I think since the time and costs to bring it to Earth would be too high, the M-7 nations would decide to bring it to Mars. So many roadblocks. I hope Ed and Dev pull this off.
@@shanent5793why is that inaccurate? That’s how resource pockets end up on earth. I’ve actually hypothesized about purposefully directing asteroids toward Point Nemo and then collecting the resources using deep sea mining.
I think this is much more likely than crashing the astroid into Mars. My guess is that the intelligence assets on Mars will screw up and no burn will happen at all, and the astroid will be lost. But Aleida and Margo are both the kind to intentionally give the asteroid to Mars for the sake of space. Like Margo said when she muscled in on the capture program - it's not power she's addicted to, it's space.
When Margo was reading the NASA memo on the brazilian space program it revealed some interesting info. Brazil invested almost a billion in the show's timeline while in our timeline the investment never crossed 20 million dollars. Also the partnerships with Russia and Ukraine were successful in the show's timeline with Proton and Tsyklon rockets launch capabilites ready to go, when in our timeline the US blocked the deals (revealed by wikileaks) Another interesting thing is the lack of any mention of the 2003 VLS rocket explosion that destroyed the launch pad and killed 21 people. Maybe it never happend in the shows timeline?
There's a lot that didn't happen in the shows timeline. Because the US and Russia were so wrapped up in the space race, they didn't seem to meddle in central and south America, or in iran and other countries.
Wow, I did not know about that accident so I looked it up on wikipedia. What a shame! I cheer for any country attempting the peaceful exploration and use of space as long as they do whatever they can to avoid creating more space junk in earth orbit.
I was so hoping for a happy ending for Margo and Sergei, but deep inside I knew that's not the way For All Mankind rolls. For every happy ending there are always a couple tragedies. Great episode. Hope they don't mess it up for the ending.
Pissing off the one woman who calculates the trajectory for a giant Asteroid into near-earth orbit is one of the worst ideas the Russians could envision....
I always look forward to your videos so much pete, they’re the perfect extension to the show. I’m so gutted both the show ans your recaps are coming to an end next week 😢
For those who don't know; the photo Sergei showed Margo was the Alcântra Launch Base; Maranhão, Brazil; where in our Universe there was a horrible accident where a Prototype Rocket exploded in 2003; unfortunately killing 21 Technicians and Engineers... It seems that in the Universe of For All Mankind this accident never happened and Brazil prospered in its Space Program... Excellent Video👋👋👋!!!
During the burger scene i said someone is not going to taste their burger before they die. As soon as Margo took her bite i was like "oops, sorry Sergei"
I knew they couldn’t escape. I had a bad feeling the whole time in that scene. No way the Russians would be that stupid to allow TWO meetings between Margo & Sergei. No way.
@@Matisaroyeah once you watch enough shows, you'll very often quickly realize the exposition they use to kill off characters. And it's always still so sad lol
I wasn't expecting that last scene with Sergei. Although when they were talking about Brazil it is like the scene in Red October when the first officer is talking about Montana, and is later killed.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Russians bugged Margo's clothes or personal belongings especially when they asked her to go to the USA . I really wanted Margo and Sergei to have their happy ending but always knew that wouldn't happen.
I was doing something else while they were doing the burger montage. Towars the end i payed attention and it was right on the gun shot. I was SHOOK. What a great show!
Love it that even Star Trek developed in an alternate way in this timeline. So, we now know TOS and Phase 2 exist in this timeline. We see Danielle watching and referring to TOS in an earlier season. Ron Moore has confirmed the existence of Phase 2 so the movies starting with TMP may not have happened. We also see Danielle say "Make it so" to Ed in an earlier episode so I take that as confirmation that TNG happened in their timeline. So, the question is did DS9, VOY, and ENT not happen? Also, we Trek diehards go by both Trekkies and Trekkers. I have heard that Trekkie used to be used as an insult but I think that was before my time.
While Sergi was helping with the asteroid I think the Russians did much care that Margo was meeting with him. They were getting something out of it so why not look the other way but when there was talk of Brazil that changed things.
I wonder if season 5 is the last season of For All Mankind. It seems obvious that the series won't end in season 4 and needs season 5 to close story lines. But if the series goes beyond season 5, I wonder if they will introduce new characters because the current main characters will be very old (or dead) at that point. I thought characters like Gary Piscotty and Dr. Sally Ride, Ed's crew during PathFinder's first flight, will become main cast but that didn't happen. Aleida and Kelly are the only characters that are not main cast in season 1 that is main cast now. Maybe they can do a big time jump after season 5 and show that Mars (having access to goldilocks) is now closer to self-sufficiency and closer to being an independent colony but Mars still needs to do trade with Earth. The former company Helios became the de facto government on Mars while its former operations on Earth is like a Mars embassy on Earth. They can introduce a lot of new 'Martian' characters. Alex Baldwin (the "original Martian," being born in Mars' orbit) can be a main character at this point.
I concur. There's going to be far future seasons prolly set in 2030s in the belt / outer. With how early this timeline got the hang of artificial gravity, we could see more entirely space storyline like space exploration for minerals or space piracy.
Honestly I'd worry about season 5 even right now. There's a bit of a streaming apocalypse starting to brew with a lot of providers slashing content to cut costs. Hasn't hit Apple yet but seeing more and more writing on the wall for Star Trek, Star Wars, Marvel, and other properties that were streaming juggernauts a couple years ago but are slowing to a trickle in the next few years is worrying.
No one mentioning the allusion to the 1985 film Brazil, where in a sci-fi future our protagonist's only escape is in a fantasy where he rescues the woman of his dreams, but is in actually dying under dystopian authoritarianism (read: Soviet KGB)? Come on, it's right there in the title
Man im going to miss the original cast. But next season is going to be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Hopefully they get some people from the expanse to star in season 5. I really think discovering life is this seasons handshake
The expanse starts in 2350, so still 347 years away. I definitely think the shows are connected though. Additionally, i think they are in the same universe as the foundation, mankind doesn't even remember earth at that point
It was the worst episode of the entire show. Absolutely illogical. All the rebels would be arrested for all their life. North Korean cosmonaut would be shot.
@@ДенисЯкутович-т2з I can't get past Al Gore as president so I found it entertaining and by far the best episode . if you're gonna get "literal", I don't think this is the TV show, a TV show that rewrites history...
This has nothing to do with being literal, it has to do with cause and effect. A basic tenent of writing is that your characters need to face consequences for any actions you have them taking, good or bad. Ed and Dev have just commited what is essentially an act of terror and they'e gotten off scott free. I understand why the writers did this, its hard to have a season 5 when 70% of the cast wpuld be in prison. However, if you dont want that to happen then dont write your characters doing things that are illegal and the consequences of which cant be avoided.@RafaelbySuzannah
@zacheltringham8524 your comment negates itself with the last sentence -- if the writers followed your "don't" instructions there would have been no episode 10....no 1 -10, no season 1, 2, 3, 4....
@@zacheltringham8524 I agree there should be consequences. Dev has enough money to hire lots and lots of lawyers and Ed is a national hero so they will probably get a slap on the wrist. The Helios employees on Mars I suspect will get amnesty because prosecution would open the can of worms of detainees being abused, and those people are needed to mine the asteroid which will generate $$$$. I think Margo will get most of the blame for everything and they will send her to a supermax prison and throw away the key as a traitor and terrorist. Considering how unpopular she is the government might try for the death penalty.
Yeah no. She's part of the next generation of cast members that audiences really love (and need) to keep it going past the orginal cast. Plus, her role is absolutely vital for the "life on Mars" plotline.
@@Mr-R.R.good point. i'd be super bummed if kels dies while her son is stuck on mars. that'd be a massive quagmire for the writers to write themselves into.
So I’m a massive Star Trek fan and always saw this as a bit of a precursor to starfleet but now it feels more like the expanse.. anyway, while Cho (the North Korean dude) is watching the camera of Miles going in the lift as he scans up to one of the higher floors you see a guy walking down a corridor in what I’m sure is a starfleet uniform, it’s a black jump suit with red shoulders. I’m sure this is an Easter egg with Ronald D Moore as the lead and both Mike and Denise Okuda lending the huge talents to the series. They were both responsible for the look of Star Trek the next generation all the way through to enterprise, the even came back in at least season 3 of Picard.
Prediction: The asteroid will impact Mars, and cause a deadly meteor shower over Happy Valley which the aftermath will bring us into season 5. I rushed to TH-cam after I saw Sergei’s death, but it was so early nothing had been posted. For some reason I knew someone was in that apartment. He didn’t deserve it. RIP Sergei 😭
Cant wait for next week where I get to watch the entire finale with a pit in my stomach waiting to see which main cast member dies a horrendous death :(( This season is much better than last season on an episode-to-episode basis, although i’ll wait a week for final judgement!! Great video as always:)
Takes about a minute to choke someone’s brain of oxygen enough to kill them. Unless you twist their neck and snap it. He put him to sleep(unless Hollywood doesn’t understand biology(when has that ever happened?) and he “died.”)
The “Trekkie vs Trekker” debate is an old one, but basically they both refer to the same fandom, just that one is more specific to the Star Trek fans that take the show more seriously than the overall fandom.
Apparently Ronald D. Moore says that Star Trek in the FAM timeline is TOS (The Original Series), Phase II, and then Wrath of Khan is the first Star Trek theatrical release instead of the The Motion Picture like in our TL. No word on what that next series was or any other movies, but one can speculate that their version of The Next Generation probably didn't do too well if there are only three series. Or, since Phase II continued Star Trek on TV during the 1970s and possibly into the early 1980s, the FAM timeline version of TNG started later than OTL in the mid 1990s and into the early 2000s, rather like OTL's Voyager, so it's wrapped up shortly before the beginning of Season 4 and there are possibly TNG movies ongoing. And who knows how Star Trek will be in that timeline with space development so much further ahead than OTL. Possibly still inspiring technology like Star Trek has in OTL.
I also really wish China made a full appearance in the show, but the writers are likely avoiding that due to Apple prolly having some kind of guidelines about how to portray China.
But the assasin DOESN'T make it look like a suicide. He puts the gun's prints in Sergei's left hand, then moves the gun to the right hand, which isn't a plausible scenario for Sergei shooting himself in the left temple. For whatever reason, they've set up a murder scenario badly trying to broadcast suicide.
No, that part is actually correct. If the forensics lift the print from the gun and find ONLY the right hand prints, it will look very suspicious. You expect to find prints of both hands of the victim of suicide. Also, he was shot from the right side, so the gun finishing in his right hand makes sense. But yes, you want both fingerprints on the gun. The bigger problems, which are the obvious ones: 1. No burn marks from the barrel and gunpowder on his head (you are not shooting yourself from a meter away). 2. No gunpowder residue on his hands that anyone shooting the gun would have once the shell get expelled. For even a rookie cop, it would be a dead giveaway that Sergei was killed and could not possibly have shot himself.
It's so obvious what's gonna happen to the asteroid that I'm kinda mad about it, it's gonna be chaos in the next episode, which will lead to asteroid crashing on Mars, perfect setup for next two seasons with a gold rush and massive Mars environment change due to the impact.
@@harryc1971 Infrastructure is present on Mars but there is much more infrastructure on earth. Exploiting the asteroid from mars is possible but doing it from earth would be much more efficient.
To start, I don’t see neither Ed nor Danielle dying in this season…. Making it back to earth? That’s another story. The further this story goes, the more I see this rock crashing into Mars. But it’s not going to land on Happy Valley. Danielle and Ed HAVE to reconcile…. Hi Bob? Neither one of them can go without that. It just won’t be fair to the fans. Besides, can at least one more original cast member get a Happy Ending? Margo…. Not sure where this is going. As soon as he said Brazil, I knew it was Sergei’s end. Because of that, it’s going to become a problem for Aleta and her family. What happens is anyone’s guess. There have, however, been some missing players this whole season that can be working something behind the scenes (Presidents sometimes do more once they leave office than most people think). I just don’t know.
As soon as he said brazil, I wondered if the episode name was a reference to the terry Guilliam movie, and if it meant sergei was gonna die. I was pretty bummed out to be right.
Some in the Star Trek fandom attempt to go with Trekkers as a fandom moniker, but it's never been the preference of Gene Roddenberry nor, clearly, the majority of the writers. Trekkie has been my preference since 1981. Trekker sounds more appropriate for taking long ambling walks.
😵💫 I'm so all over the place with everything that's been thrown against the wall... I have no idea what will stick. Sergei's death: saw that coming. What, he's a Russian defector and Margo is a USA defector, who were once lovers, and they don't absolutely know they're BOTH being followed by Irina??? Please. Sergei must have actually loved Margo to jeopardize his "nice American life". We all know 'Brazil' was only a dream and would never happen. The show storyline isn't going to include Brazil. But it was a nice gesture on Sergei's end, and his death will be a wakeup call for Margo. I don't care who dies in S4...Dani, Ed, Miles, Lee, or Dev. JUST DON'T KILL OFF MARGO. And here's one more off the wall thought: what if Margo herself ratted out Sergei to Irina??? 😮
It's just occurred to me, that in the show's timeline, the assassination attempt on JPII succeeded, so obviously Sergey had to go.... PS Piotr Adamczyk is a Polish actor, who plays Segey. He's very famous in Poland and Italy, for playing the pope John Paul II in a TV movie.
My money is that Margo gives calculations that would push the asteroid into Mars orbit and then Dev adds five seconds of burn on that and there is a big boom on Mar's surface.
Ah man Sergei! That ending was too much. I was so shocked but I felt like something was wrong as the whole burger scene felt like a cold open not and ending
To be fair, Ed was making amends with his daughter. Characters who are about to die tend to do that. Now if he does the same with Dani in the next episode…
How can anyone think Danielle is the bad guy here??? Ed is being an asshole. The Asteroid theft is a bad guy doing a good thing. Her telling Ed off was decades in the making and justified as hell.
Pretty sure he means about how hard Danielle is going on the Helios workers. We’ve seen her order multiple searches of the base, tighten security of the Helios workers to the point it feels more like a prison honestly. Lock them down. Shut down the one place they use to blow off steam after a hard days work. 😊 We’ve seen throughout the seasons how Danielle and Ed differ in their thinking. Honestly, I feel like this season we are seeing how similar they are. They just go about in different ways.
@@danive89 You mean searching for the people trying to sabotage the most important event for the future of humanity? A few searches is hardly draconian. And Imagine it from her perspective, we believe ed because we watch his private moments unlike her and even we were not sure if he was pro mars or pro fuck the people who fired me I am gonna shit in their grits on the worker thing. To her it looks like ed is trying to cripple her tenure to spite her. Immediately after she rightfully shit cans his ass he proceeds to sabotage the whole thing by turning worker friend. Hell, she was trying to help the workers when he did not give a shit, remember the email buffer? We also know the contract term changes CAME FROM HELIOS so they are Dev's doing not hers, but he is a plucky elon musk type so the blame falls on to the strong responsible woman in charge. It is subtle sexism in action the way she is perceived by many fans.
I quite enjoy how differently big fans of the show are seeing this. I was really pretty shocked to read the Collider reviewer cast Ed as a 'villian' :) We saw the other side (on Mars, led by Dani) with their inept scabs cause an explosion, and then blame 'terrorism', crack down with security, checkpoints and ransacking quarters, shut down the bar, renditioning and torturing suspects, etc. And for what? Sending that rock to Earth is driven by greed, and keeping that rock with Mars is driven by a vision. All the Earth-rock people are 'doing their jobs' for the approval of their bosses and for a quick payout (including every striker that crossed that line). May the heist be a success! ;)
Considering that each season end on a note of pushing forward. The expanded moon base with the sea dragon, looking to mars, and then the future of happy valley. I’m gonna guess the burn send the rock to close to mars but not a collision. They mentioned skipping off the atmosphere when being to earth, and also mentioned the rock will be beyond their reach after it passes by. So I’m gonna guess the rock skips of Mars atmosphere and is sent out of everyone’s reach but not gone forever. Goldilocks we’ll settle into a stable orbit somewhere out in the far solar system(maybe Neptune). This starts the next space race, a 20 trillion dollar pot of gold just sitting their right out of reach enticing a generation of treasure seekers to go to space for the biggest score in human history.
Climate change has been slowed down in for All Mankind so that’s means the UN wouldn’t have to take over Earth. Plus FAM is setting up more of a Star Trek future.
If you do find your way to Star Trek, TNG and DS9 ought to be your primary targets. I am sure someone out there has proved an essential viewing list for both series.
Yeah, they are telegraphing things, the burger scene you could see coming to its end and the video message to home is setting up a death there too. To be honest, when the screen went to black at episodes end my first thought was, WOW, they are leaving so much to the final episode.
Margo after learning of Sergei’s death knowing she’s screwed either way comes running hands raised into MCSC and surrenders herself to the US setting up a tense standoff between KGB agents and NASA security
"Trekker" really came to prominence in the late 80s/early 90s during the TNG era by fans looking for an alternative to Trekkie, which some considered a put-down. Considering there may not have been a TNG - or a less impactful version, perhaps there may not have been a term "Trekker" in the FAM timeline, only the term "Trekkie".
Very true. The Trekkie term became a bit derogatory after all the fan conventions but they were the ones the saved the franchise. With more space adventures in real life there might have been more of a natural audience to have the proposed TOS live action spin offs spaced out enough to last to that period of time without the need for fan conventions. Though I love the old joke (I’m misremembering the exact wording): A Trekkie is a Star Trek fan. A Trekker is a hard core Trekkie with an attitude
I have a feeling that sergei's death will be avenged. Just for the fact that A) there was an uneaten sandwich right by his head & B) the dude put the gun in the wrong hand.
I thought that as well at first but but it was the correct hand. Primary impact was on the other side. I agree it still looks suspect as heck, however.
With some investigation, it seems like it would be pretty easy to determine that Sergei was murdered. I mean, who orders McDonalds right before killing themselves? McDonalds as your last meal?
This is an all or nothing scenario for the conspirators. Even if they succeed in corralling the asteroid into Mars orbit, it still sets up a major schism between them and those (still on Mars) who want to remain loyal to Earth. Regardless of what happens there's going to be some kind of showdown. If Mars goes its own way it's hard to see how the consortium of players on Earth, i.e. the Soviets, NASA, Helios, the Koreans, etc. are going to remain united.
It is for nothing, in any realistic scenario. Let us say, for the sake of argument, that they succeed 100% in their plans. Goldilocks is in Martian orbit and everyone on Mars switches to their side. What happens next? You have a base of, let us say 500 people (Wiki just states that there are 100+ people on the base, but with several levels, the same as the one shown above ground, let us say 500 people), who have just stolen 20 trillion $ prize from two Earth's superpowers. In which universe, realistically, those 2 nations don't immediately invest a few billion $ to make a fleet of ships that we saw existing to taxi people to Mars, strap a few missiles on them and fill the ships with marines and Spetznaz units and send them to Mars? Even if for some stupid reason you'd be able to get the asteroid to Martian orbit but not push it again towards Earth orbit, USA and USSR would never let the crew on Mars just continue existing like that and have the custody of the asteroid. You'd see immediate response and a full replacement of all the workers and personnel on the Happy Valley base, with all of them serving very long prison sentences, or, if they decide to fight back (they have no weapons by the way) or dying terribly. There is literally no reasonable outcome for the conspirators where they take the asteroid and get to keep it and prosper from it. 20 trillion $ at stake... wars have been started for far less. The whole plot is just incredibly stupid and not thought through. A 5 minute discussion about that in the writing room would have rejected that plot as stupid and meaningless.
@@Wustenfuchs109 Okay, so no declaration of Mars independence. Dev and Baldwin go to prison. But if the asteroid stays in Mars orbit or crashes, the US and Soviets still need the base and the workers. That sets up a continuation of the story line for expansion of the Mars colony, along with Kelly Baldwin and her son staying on Mars for the next season.
The "Trekker" thing did get a push in the 00s from people who felt "Trekkie" was derogatory. But I'm not sure whether that was pre or post 2004 and it was also doomed to fail because the majority didn't take offense to "Trekkie" just a small minority.
It is so good to finally find some place t discuss this great work with fan together. Don’t know why the producer and the director make Margo such a character, she used Dr Von Braun from the very first of this series and till Sergey and Aleida. I once quite dislike the setting of Aleida as a Mexican smuggler’s daughter and later can be enjoying privileged training to make her as today. Looking back it could be understandable the writer just need to make this character to support the story goes on. But what is the point for setting Margo so disgustingly until now? Especially her face of finally have the cheese ketchup burger a decade later. This series is just soooo good, and I wish it could have another 5th season to complete the story. 10 more episodes may will send man beyond the solar system. Thank you for making this followup
I think them saying there is three Star Trek series is the writer that you mentioned that had a falling out on working on voyager’s way of saying like f**k you basically 😂 he never worked on Voyager and it never got made in this timeline bc he’s still salty about it.
Wasted your time regarding Star Trek cuz this is an alternative history show. The main thing from that scene is that Danielle really wants to go home while others don’t!!! It creates tension towards ‘who gets their wish?’. There is a lot ‘wishing’ in this episode. Sergei is not getting his wish. 😢
@@Wells306 Maybe, like soap for finding leaks, though soap, being oil-based, is potentially flammable around pure oxygen. I was thinking of the magnetic fluids used to indicate cracks in ferrous components
What if the asteroid crashes into the crater which Kelly was in. The one with life. It could create a lot of conflict in future seasons and stuff I guess
I am wondering what exactly you find objectionable about Danielle's behavior. I think she's had decades of patience for Ed and she is done with his sh17. Most people would have gone off on him way way sooner. If it's nothing to do with her exploding at Ed, then I'm at a loss. I think she's been a great leader. Anyhow, I'm hoping they don't fridge her next episode and it's more like she can't get home quickly but it's not looking good.
F@#; ! I accidentally dozed off watching your recap for #8 and woke up this recap right when Sergei' got it in the head. I ruined my entire #9 viewing experience😢😢 that'll teach me to watch recaps in bed before going to sleep😅😅
I found E9 of Season 4, "For All Mankind" to be one of the most poorly written episodes of the entire series. No one would ever hide a cable splitter in such an easily found spot as behind the monitor in the North Korean hab. And, that they left the label on the box was beyond dumb. I know the World had to learn about the saboteurs somehow but a little more thought could have gone on there. The storyline concerning Margo and Sergei chatting for over a month without any obvious concerns was also idiotic. They are dealing with the Soviet Union here. Of course, the Russians would know of their conversations. I was just dumbfounded by the entire episode.
Danielle is toast. 😥 Ed's gonna get her killed, but it will be heroic and full of pathos. All the years Margo and Serge barely touched each other told me he was destined for the snuff. No way we were getting the satisfaction of requited snuggles. I hope Mars keeps the asteroid. I want an extraterrestrial colony, but if Kelly finds life, that's a huge ethical conflict. Given our past history as colonizers, I know what outcome would be decided. I wonder if Kelly 's experience as a Vietnamese kid will change the outcome. I'm never eating a burger with catsup again!🙀👀💯
Sergei's assassin did a bad job because anyone looking at his hands would notice the missing telltale signs such as super close range powder burns from the round going off.
I had hope for Sergie & Margo, last season ended with shooting a pregnant lady into space. Anything was possible. Sergei's death gutted me. I still think the asteroid is going to impact Earth or the moon. I do think what other commenters are saying about it hitting Mars is another possibility. I think the US needs to find a way for Margo to stay in the US.
Regarding the Star Trek comment by Dani: my immediate impression was she is referring to the late 1980’s-90’s trifecta of successful TV series such as TNG + DS9 + Voyager, as these shows are commonly grouped together by the fans for multiple reasons, one being all 3 coexist in the same chronological time frame in the Trek universe, and are frequently viewed by fans in succession. I’m completely open to other interpretations however, including how this could be an alternate timeline where the Trek series rolled out quite differently because of the additional manned missions to space causing its early success, instead of in spite of the lack of support by the studios in our timeline. Since you mentioned the Trek writer who also works on for all mankind, it made me feel the former was possibly the case instead of the latter, even if I think it’s still up for interpretation.
This felt like a filler episode that hardly moved the plot forward. We're waiting for the heist to happen. One good thing is that this episode trimmed some fat by killing one or two characters.
It looked like a semiautomatic pistol, so the burning powder should only come out of the muzzle. It's usually only revolvers that direct any of that powder towards the hand. Everything in the room will be covered in detectable chemical residue though. I think the uneaten sandwich is the most suspicious thing, nobody would buy a last meal and not even take a bite
I don’t understand why the staged suicide of Sergej is done so poorly by the killer, it’s too obvious that he was killed, the burger is laying around somewhere and there’s also no letter with his last words, investigators will immediately find that out what really happened. I guess that Margo will re-defect to the USA when she finds out about that, at least I really hope so.
Again, people overestimate the writers of the show, over and over again. Listen, if you are going to enjoy this series, turn off your brain and don't ask any questions. Just watch and say "wow".
I know😢 Sergei didn’t deserve that kind of death. I fear since the next episode will be the last Ed is next on the list.
I’m willing to bet Margo and Aleida will sabotage the math in the same manner the Mars Climate Orbital was destroyed in 1999 due to a metric vs English calculation error.

That would mean tossing the last jot of scientific accuracy out the airlock
Iridium
I think since the time and costs to bring it to Earth would be too high, the M-7 nations would decide to bring it to Mars. So many roadblocks. I hope Ed and Dev pull this off.
@@shanent5793why is that inaccurate? That’s how resource pockets end up on earth. I’ve actually hypothesized about purposefully directing asteroids toward Point Nemo and then collecting the resources using deep sea mining.
@@4DRC_that would be a very plausible option on the menu
Heist will fail, but Margo and Aleida will "steal" the asteroid for mars to embarrass her handler and get revenge.
Oooooo! I like this!💯😜🔥
I think this is much more likely than crashing the astroid into Mars.
You're pretty much dead on, that's pretty much how it goes (sorry for the spoiler)
Well this aged horribly 💀 you were saying bch? Thought so 💅🏽
When Margo was reading the NASA memo on the brazilian space program it revealed some interesting info. Brazil invested almost a billion in the show's timeline while in our timeline the investment never crossed 20 million dollars. Also the partnerships with Russia and Ukraine were successful in the show's timeline with Proton and Tsyklon rockets launch capabilites ready to go, when in our timeline the US blocked the deals (revealed by wikileaks)
Another interesting thing is the lack of any mention of the 2003 VLS rocket explosion that destroyed the launch pad and killed 21 people. Maybe it never happend in the shows timeline?
Or maybe the VLS explosion happens earlier?
If Danielle or Ed dies please let one of them say "Bye Bob" instead of "Hi Bob"
I have the exact same thoughts as you. It will be sad , but it will happen.
I rather have Danielle die! I always felt Ed was the main character but always pushed aside, this is his time to get redemption!
@@Kershin.Gounden I hope Ed steals the asteroid successfully
During the burger scene i said someone is not going to taste their burger before they die. As soon as Margo took her bite i was like "oops, sorry Sergei"
Oooh fair, I thought one of their burgers would've been tampered with poison or something lol
The minute they cut to him walking in the rain I literally said out loud "Oh , no" and my wife was like "What?"
RIP Sergei.
I thought they’d shoot him in the neck so that blood splashes onto the burger
Yeap. A lot of people apparently saw it coming but I didn't.
Man. Im so ready for Season 5..
I remember Spock's death being referenced in a earlier season.
The writers have 7 seasons planned. It’s really up to Apple if we get to see them.
7 seasons are confirmed and the creators have expressed interest to go extremely far into the future beyond that.
I immediately noticed that she mentioned the three Star Trek shows and not the five Star Trek shows that existed in real life.
ACKTUALLY, someone did mention it 7 hours ago, lol.
That 90's Big Mac box!!
Man im going to miss the original cast. But next season is going to be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Hopefully they get some people from the expanse to star in season 5. I really think discovering life is this seasons handshake
Hopefully not Protomolecule.
They do indeed have enough story left for another season
@@gosnooky😂😂
Maybe they find alien life and technology? And that will lead to aliens in 6th or 7th season?
The expanse starts in 2350, so still 347 years away. I definitely think the shows are connected though. Additionally, i think they are in the same universe as the foundation, mankind doesn't even remember earth at that point
Now I’m hungry lol. Twist and turns and I love it. Best show out there
I just saw episode 10. It was the best episode of the entire season by far.
I got carried away with the base drama to predict what happens to Sergei, goddamnit. Legit had my jaw dropped.
I think the burn will have a miscalculation, crashing the asteroid on mars, killing Baldwins daughter in the crater
and unleashing martian bacteria?
I think the hijacking goes bad and the asteroid ends up on a collision course with earth.
RIP Sergei 😭

that didn't look like a put to sleep chokehold, it looked like a death chokehold
Here's the clip if anyone is interested th-cam.com/video/0-idTOyJATc/w-d-xo.html

The website Margo access shows that the Brazilian VLS rocket also existed in this timeline - but I wonder about its success...
I also really wish China made a full appearance in the show, but the writers are likely avoiding that due to Apple prolly having some kind of guidelines about how to portray China.
North Korea is a stand in for China, so just switch NK for China in your head.
The bigger problems, which are the obvious ones:
Great video as usual, Pete
It's so obvious what's gonna happen to the asteroid that I'm kinda mad about it, it's gonna be chaos in the next episode, which will lead to asteroid crashing on Mars, perfect setup for next two seasons with a gold rush and massive Mars environment change due to the impact.
Its a good alternative solution to the space minning, infrastructure is present to be expanded on and exploited.
Maybe it ends up on a collision course with earth?
@@harryc1971 Infrastructure is present on Mars but there is much more infrastructure on earth. Exploiting the asteroid from mars is possible but doing it from earth would be much more efficient.
So damn obvious that it didn’t happen, well done bud!
I agree! I embrace Trekkie because I don't view Trek fandom as pejorative. (Also, Hi!!! fancy meeting you here!)
I don’t recall them actually getting a chance to smash…. even though it did come close. I did want to see them get together tho.
Who would have thought the show would include North Korea? There are worse places than Brasil to put a space elevator.
I don't know about Phase II Trek, but if ends in DS9 - that world is better for it.
I think showing Danielle's motivation to return home for grandchildren contracts Ed's motivation to keep his grandchild on Mars.
How can anyone think Danielle is the bad guy here??? Ed is being an asshole. The Asteroid theft is a bad guy doing a good thing. Her telling Ed off was decades in the making and justified as hell.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾bravo. Ed is just an ass these days. I don’t buy his heart to heart talk with his Kelly. She called bs on it too.
They are both good people, just in different ways. Danielle is less self-serving.
Pretty sure he means about how hard Danielle is going on the Helios workers. We’ve seen her order multiple searches of the base, tighten security of the Helios workers to the point it feels more like a prison honestly. Lock them down. Shut down the one place they use to blow off steam after a hard days work.
😊
We’ve seen throughout the seasons how Danielle and Ed differ in their thinking.
Honestly, I feel like this season we are seeing how similar they are. They just go about in different ways.
@@danive89 You mean searching for the people trying to sabotage the most important event for the future of humanity? A few searches is hardly draconian. She has no choice what else is she supposed to do? She can't negotiate pay for them.

Yeah, they are telegraphing things, the burger scene you could see coming to its end and the video message to home is setting up a death there too. To be honest, when the screen went to black at episodes end my first thought was, WOW, they are leaving so much to the final episode.

1:32 looks like the Internet did eventually go public. That website looks very 90s web.
Though I love the old joke (I’m misremembering the exact wording):
A Trekkie is a Star Trek fan.
A Trekker is a hard core Trekkie with an attitude
I have a feeling that sergei's death will be avenged. Just for the fact that A) there was an uneaten sandwich right by his head & B) the dude put the gun in the wrong hand.

It's always been "trekkie"... and I've lived through all the shows.

I knew once surge was walking with the bag I knew he was going to die
Walking all alone to his hotel? I half expected his door to explode when he opened it
This finale and the next season should be pretty interesting. I think that asteroid is either gonna disappear into space or slam into a planet. Oops!
Good catch on the Trek series. More space travel. Less Star Trek. Seems like a fair trade.
Sergei's assassin did a bad job because anyone looking at his hands would notice the missing telltale signs such as super close range powder burns from the round going off.
Or the fact he placed the gun on the right hand, but the shot was on the left side of the head, who suicides like that?

@@RedSander_BRwasn't he shot from the right? The hole on the left is where the bullet came out. So gun in the right hand would be correct.
I thought it would be coffee but I guess Visine works too
I had hope for Sergie & Margo, last season ended with shooting a pregnant lady into space. Anything was possible. Sergei's death gutted me.
I still think the asteroid is going to impact Earth or the moon. I do think what other commenters are saying about it hitting Mars is another possibility. I think the US needs to find a way for Margo to stay in the US.
Why don't these people just order the burger the way they want it? They don't need to scrape things off!
FINALLY, and this season has just reaffirmed that Danielle is power hungry
So if he was shot in the left temple, why did he put the gun in his right hand. Also there would be no powder burns on his hands from firing the gun.
The gunshot EXITED through the left temple - hence gun in right hand.
@@FigmentForever thanks for your reply. What about lack of powder burns from not firing the gun.
I’m so gutted pete 😭
I don’t understand why the staged suicide of Sergej is done so poorly by the killer, it’s too obvious that he was killed, the burger is laying around somewhere and there’s also no letter with his last words, investigators will immediately find that out what really happened. I guess that Margo will re-defect to the USA when she finds out about that, at least I really hope so.
Yeah, why buy a last meal if you're not going to eat it?
Again, people overestimate the writers of the show, over and over again. Listen, if you are going to enjoy this series, turn off your brain and don't ask any questions. Just watch and say "wow".
