Putin says Russia has “no reason or interest” in attacking NATO, dubs Biden remarks “nonsense”

- Responding to remarks from U.S. President Joe Biden that Russia would attack a NATO country if it won its ongoing war with Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he has “no reason or interest” to do so.
“It is complete nonsense and I think President Biden understands that,” Putin said during an interview last Thursday, further suggesting the U.S. leader was trying to justify his own “mistaken policy” on Russia.
"Russia has no reason, no interest - no geopolitical interest, neither economic, political nor military - to fight with NATO countries," Putin added.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in Feb. 2022, Putin has repeatedly cast the post-Cold War expansion of NATO as evidence of the West's way of dealing with Russia's security concerns.

You're right, NATO is no threat to Russia in its homeland. Russia has projects like protecting Putin's ego when he makes mistakes that cause hundreds of thousands to have horrible deaths or are maimed for life, families without males. So many of those that survive to the end will have to be processed by war crime tribunals. And then there is the matter of reparations. Russia is going to be a mess for generations, even with western help.

During the Cold War a lot of people seemed to believe that America was the only free country in the world and we were surrounded by socialists and communists on all sides. But there was a NATO that seemed to disprove at least some of this. War, Foreign Policy, International relations and such are extremely difficult topics and most people are like me, they take orders. But I might say that if Russia were allowed to invade Europe that America would be surrounded for the most part. This would depend, of course on what NATO countries fell. But surely America would be much worse off without a strong NATO.

They all support Ukraine because its their proxy. President Trump also inherited the conflict President Obama created in Ukraine after overthrowing their elected government and installed their puppet Zelensky. President Trump was still sending weapons to Ukraine. He is only changing his position now because he wants to win favor and the White House, but nothing will change. That is the reason why, at this point, President Putin or Russia does not need a US president for any peace discussion because he is dictating the terms of the war and to guaranteed her own security.

@@warrenkensington6091 The majority of people who support Putin, the people we argue against and the demographic that Putin cares about the most are the ones living in the few "modern" parts of Russia such as Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Since your arguments don't apply to them they won't care. Of course the reason they're so in favour of the war is that they're not the ones being conscripted, the ones in the poorer regions are.
Why would Russia want to engage NATO in any military conflict. There was a time when Russia was wanting to join but US obviously didn't need a large military power conflicting with their hegemony. NATO shoud have been disbanded in the early 90s. Its purposes was to balance the power of the Soviet bloc, that ended but NATO didn't. It felt it needed to expand into former Soviet republics against its promise to not do so. What should have happened was the formation of a new European defence bloc that drew in all the European countries, former Soviet republics & Russia. But what wasn't needed in this New European Order was the US. Need I say more
It was actually the Eastern countries that wanted to join, to never again be threatened by the aggression of Russia. And they had every right to do so. Who is Russia to tell other countries what to do?

Well I seem to recall a few weeks before Putin invaded Ukraine he had thousands of troops already at the border and called peoples concerns "nonsense" and claimed they were just doing military drills no intentions of war so if people are a bit distrusting of him now I don't think it just paranoia. I pity his own citizens too since he decriminalized domestic abuse and arrests anyone who even protests the war he hates gays he hates women he lies etc. Isn't there an international warrant out for his war crimes too?
Look at the actions. Who said they would not expand NATO eastwards 30 years ago? And today they are on the Russian boarders?. You goes out in the world to start wars in the middle east, Afghanistan, Libya, etc?. It is all NATO. The conflict in Ukraine is a result of NATO expansion and killings of people of Russian origin in Donbas regions.
