Merci Onehronaut !
Thank you for the excellent video. I have money down on this exact model, here in the states. Love the color combo and the somewhat industrial look for me is very appealing. I think it's downright sexy, even if it doesn't have a lot of power. There have been road tests where this bike has been clocked in the quarter mile in the high 11's. That isn't the time machine that the 1000 is, but still respectable for a good all round, multi purpose bike. Everybody raves about the confidence inspiring handling and overall very good road manners. That to me is more of a priority. As far as the sound goes...I've heard only 1 or 2 of these bikes sound somewhat sexy and I think they both had Mivv exhausts. It seems to be a hard bike to make sound good. Thanks again for the video.
You're welcome, savagemako17! Thank YOU for having watched it 😊 I couldn't agree more with what you've said. I also think that the F800R is a great everyday bike, very comfortable, easy and safe to handle. About the sound, the bike of my test ride had the DB-Killer in its Akrapovič exhaust. I'm sure it would sound much better without it...
Great that they let you take it for a spin! I own the previous version of this bike, I like the new one a lot but was a little disappointed there was no greater improvement in performance other than 3 HP. Did you ever ride the old one? If you did how does it compare to this one?
SuperAaron 99 No, I have never had the opportunity to ride the old one. The new one is indeed a great bike: beautiful design, fantastic handling, great build quality... It would have been perfect with 10/15 hp more.
Hello MrKiddo, I have my first motorcycle lesson 15th of April. I'm super hyped about all the different models and brands so I try to do as much research as possible to know which direction I should go in, once I finished the lessons and I can buy my own one. Right now I selected the following ones, but what would you recommend for a beginner? Bmw f800 R, Kawaski Er6F, Yamaha Mt-07 and XJ6, Honda Nc750s. I live in Belgium, and when you're 20-24 years old, you are only allowed to drive motorcycles with a limited power of 35 Kw. I'm 20 years old now, so the lessons and driver permit I will get, will be for the -35Kw bikes. The good thing about startig now, is that the rules allow you to do your exam for unlimited power sooner then when you turn 24 (2 years after you got the 35Kw permit). So maybe keep in mind when analysing the mentioned types above, that I will be allowed to remove the power restriction after 2 years, so instead of having to buy a more powerfull bike then, I just make the factory restore its power. I know motorcycles aren't all about horsepower and Kw's, but it's a nice plus to upgrade your own bike when you get yourself the next driving license. Thanks in advance for your answer! Bernard
Hey :). I will be doing my driving licence in April, too. But I'll probably buy a supermoto (probably Yamaha XT660X). But before this decision I was looking on this beautiful F800 series. And I think I will buy it one day. Anyway - about ER6 - the problem is it's a smaller bike and I read that a guy with 187 cm (which is the same height I have) was uncomfortable. His back were too bended and his legs were in a bad angle. On the other hand, a guy like 13 cm shorter was just fine. So when choosing a bike, remember it needs to suit your height, too. I'm so excited about riding a motorcycle haha. Cheers and hello from Czech Republic :D
+Lukas Bastl Thank you for your answer, I'm 1.83m so thanks for pointing out the height is very important as well. I will take a demo ride on any motorcycle I consider buying to feel which one feels the best for me personally. What do you think about the other bikes, and isn't there an age restriction for the bikes their power in the czech Republic? I wish you the very best on the road and enjoy :D Greetings from Belgium.
+Captain Vega The BMW would surely be a great choice, too. But I don't know how about the other bikes because I haven't considered them. But I looked on SV650 and Yamaha Fazer for example. And yes, here, when you turn 18, you can make an A2 driving licence so you can ride bikes up to 35 kW which original power can be up to 70 kW. But ration can't be over 0,2 kW/kg. The XT660 has got 35.3 kW but I read that you can discuss it in a Yamaha service and they can do the paperwork stuff to officially lower it to 35.0 kW
Hello guys, and good luck for your motorcycle licenses. All the bikes in this wish list are great bikes. It would be wrong to say that one is better than the others because they all have their own upsides and downsides, and choosing a motorcycle is a matter of taste. The BMW F800R or the Honda CB650F have a great build quality, but they are also more expensive and serious than the others. The Yamaha MT-07 is certainly a great deal: very good price and fun to ride. Same about the Kawa ER6 and Suzuki SV650... The Honda NC750 is a fantastic commuter, with a low fuel consumption and many practical features, but less fun to ride. So the best advice I could give you is to visit your local dealers, see the bikes, seat on them, test ride them if possible, and finally choose the one you prefer (as Captain Vega said).
+MrKiddo That's all right. One problem when you're buying your first bike. The hype is too much, I'd buy the bike even if I knew it was slightly crashed just to have the bike already xD. I'll take some experienced biker with me when I'll be buying the bike so he can tell me all the stuff I could overlook.
Hi Joaninha Motovlog! I would do it if I find one available for test-ride. Last time I visited the Triumph dealership close to my place, they had only a few Tigers as demo bikes...
Great review, the Kawasaki Z900RS review made me realize a haven’t yet seen all of your review videos (shame on me). Anyway, this looks like a very interesting bike, and i am wondering if it hase the bas engine of the Nuda. I also read that the seat height is no more than 790mm. Is it taller than e.g. the MT-07 or Kawasaki Er6? The stalling at the beginning i thinks is getting used to a parallel twin. I had my riding lessons on an ER-6N and it took some time to get used to the engine. Is a four cylinder that much smoother? And the S1000R is a stunning piece of machinery, gorgeous looking with a great sound to it. And now for the other reviews.😀
Yes, Husqvarna used a deeply modified version of this engine for the Nuda, making it much more aggressive. When RJ tried the F800GS, he said the BMW and Husqvarna engines feel totally different ( th-cam.com/video/RGhh4QgMPSA/w-d-xo.html ). Indeed the seat of the F800R is slightly lower than the ones of the MT-07 and ER6N. About the 4-cylinder engines, they are indeed very smooth. Some hate them, some love them (I do love them!). You should try one to make up your mind. In order to enjoy the experience, remember that you must use all the powerband in low gears, and not hesitate to reach high RPM, as these engines show their potential close to the redline.
This bike looks amazing. Maybe next time they will let you ride the s1000r or maybe the s1000rr, that would put a smile, and some mosquitoes, on you face. Thanks for sharing.
That's indeed a great bike. Before riding a S1000R/RR, I would make sure to put the visor down, as I hate mosquitoes... Thank YOU for watching Zacarias Benta! 😊
As tu testé les poignets chauffantes ?
Mike Grabe Yes, you're right, but Husqvarna modified this engine, making it 15 hp more powerful and 15 nm more torquey. It seems to me that those 15 hp were missing in the F800R for making it a perfect bike.... (in that case, it would have been perfect for me, but not suitable anymore for the beginners)
Hard to say... The engine of the CB Six Fifty is more enjoyable. The F800 is a bit more comfortable. Considering the build quality and the handling, they are very similar. Personally, I would rather choose the Honda. But you should test ride them both and see which one you prefer yourself... :)
I just had a test drive on the 800r and I thought it was a nice bike but found the engine dull and unexciting. I was expected a lot more from 800cc's. My SV650 engine feels bigger and more powerful than the BMW.
+fish and banana It depends... If I hadn't had my Honda CBF600, I would choose the F800R. After owning my CBF, I would rather choose the GSR750. The reason is that my CBF and the F800R offer pretty similar sensations (easy handling, smooth engine, comfy rather than sporty). The F800R is like a very good 600cc bike, while the GSR750 is like a cheap 800cc bike.
As a first bike or for a city use only, I would choose the BMW F800R, which is a great alternative to a 600cc naked bike. Otherwise, I would choose the Honda VFR800F, which is more powerful, more enjoyable to ride and more suitable for touring. But this is only my opinion. You should test ride them both, and choose the one you prefer ;)
Andre Silva Indeed, that's a cool job. But one of his colleague (the one riding the R1200RT) was complaining because the weather was a little bit too cold... People are never happy 😉
needed another 15bhp? no offence but you were riding it like you were asleep and on the way into work on a monday morning. I have a 2006 bmw f800st and can keep up with guys on bike with 50bhp more than me. only time I have ever been left was on a long straight against bikes with 130+bhp
No offense but if you really think that your F800 can keep up with bikes with 50hp more, you're just kidding yourself (or you may have some special riding skills). It's a fantastic bike with many great features, but despite its 90 hp, it doesn't really feel more powerful than the ~75hp/600cc Japanese bikes which are much cheaper...
Thank you bucheronforever! 😊 Personally, I do prefer the new edition, but I have to admit that I was expecting a better sound from the Akrapovič exhaust (that's certainly the DB-Killer which ruins it).
Browsing through your videos. I like this bike.
Yes it's a nice one, very suitable for a daily use :)
Absolutely gorgeous bike
Indeed :) Btw I'm going to publish today a review video of her sister, the BMW F800GT
absolutely love that color ! What a great bike, want!
Yes, this black & blue paint looks great... There was also a white one in the dealership, but I didn't like it as much.
bmw know this job!
Indeed, very nicely engineered bikes...
The S1000R is a dream bike indeed! I'm not entirely convinced by the looks of the F800R, although the front looks a lot better than it used to :).
I do like the look of the new F800R (specially with this blue & black paint), but I didn't like the old one me neither...
Great that they let you take it for a spin! I own the previous version of this bike, I like the new one a lot but was a little disappointed there was no greater improvement in performance other than 3 HP. Did you ever ride the old one? If you did how does it compare to this one?

lambo drift
Nice video! Thanx for the observation and bmw)))

Hello MrKiddo,

Our time will come. At some point, those BMWs will be cheap enough. In 17 years, granted, but the prices will come down. :P
Hi Mr Kiddo, please make a test ride on a Triumph Boneville T100. Thank u!

un caño la S1000R
Hello! Today I had my first driving lesson with motorbike and I had exactly the same! =) It makes a lot of fun to drive a bike ;-3
+TooPolegl Nice! 😊 It's definitely a great bike for learning to ride. Myself I did my riding lessons with a Kawasaki ER6n. Good luck for your licence!
MrKiddo Hey! Yeah ;-D Thank you! =)

N118 ! Nice turns in that road
F800 exhaust sound looks like ER6 XD
Yes, the N118 is pretty curvy for an expressway! You're right for the sound, it's quite similar with your bike (parallel twin engine in both cases).
As tu testé les poignets chauffantes ?

Did you notice any excessive vibration through the handle bars?
+fish and banana No, I didn't... Maybe there was some vibration, but it didn't catch my attention at all.

ewooll So we have exactly the same opinion about it: nice bike, but disappointing engine...
love that f800r... just that. how much is it?
It depends in what country you are. In France, as said in the video description, it costs 8,500 euros...
Would you go for the F800R or the GSR750 ?
+fish and banana It depends... If I hadn't had my Honda CBF600, I would choose the F800R. After owning my CBF, I would rather choose the GSR750. The reason is that my CBF and the F800R offer pretty similar sensations (easy handling, smooth engine, comfy rather than sporty). The F800R is like a very good 600cc bike, while the GSR750 is like a cheap 800cc bike.
?what would you recommend, the f800r or the honda vfr800f
As a first bike or for a city use only, I would choose the BMW F800R, which is a great alternative to a 600cc naked bike. Otherwise, I would choose the Honda VFR800F, which is more powerful, more enjoyable to ride and more suitable for touring. But this is only my opinion. You should test ride them both, and choose the one you prefer ;)
Thank you for your answer. Most of my riding is in the city, so i guess the VFR is not the best option...
Doesn't RoyalJordanian own one of these?
Indeed, he has a stunning white S1000R...
La 9T claque aussi ! 😃
I'm jealous of that guy who get paid to ride a S1000R all day long.
Andre Silva Indeed, that's a cool job. But one of his colleague (the one riding the R1200RT) was complaining because the weather was a little bit too cold... People are never happy 😉
The naked look looks great and i like the slim design. .
I like them also naked and slim... I'm still talking about bikes, what else? 😉
Lol me to but i like them all i own a 1300 busa so i do slim and bulky...never been bias when it comes to ladies...lol
which camera do you use?
GoPro Hero 3+ Silver
+MrKiddo Thank you!
could you also share your impressions having it mounted on your left side of the helmet? Wind pressure etc.
bmw s1000rr very good very powerful .I like whatching
Thank you Yasar Can Furkan Gulber, I glad you enjoy! 😊
How would this make as a first bike?
Car king Smooth engine and easy handling.... I would be perfect as a first bike.
Coucou MrKiddo !
needed another 15bhp? no offence but you were riding it like you were asleep and on the way into work on a monday morning.
+MrKiddo proven on a sunday......... time and time again
Some very nice bikes. Like +DashieXP would say, I'm envious as fuck! :P
Hun Rider Indeed, very nice bikes. Happy are the ones who ride them everyday...
I don't like the design of this new edition, I prefer the last one. And the exhaust doesn't sound good :( . But that is a good video :)
Thank you bucheronforever! 😊 Personally, I do prefer the new edition, but I have to admit that I was expecting a better sound from the Akrapovič exhaust (that's certainly the DB-Killer which ruins it).
Bah... :-p
I have to say most new BMW's are Jizz machines
Every bike is a Jizz machine in the eyes of its owner 😉
Anyway, you're right, the new BMWs are awesome...
