Nice color! Great video as usual. CS should seriously feature your videos. There are so many copycats hunting for free hotels on CS. I just wonder what these people think of themselves and why in hell I should host them. haha
Thanks my dear! (I was wondering all the time: “isn’t the color too much..?” 😂) Still, there are people who answer to my videos asking me why I don’t just copy and paste the same request to many people. They are usually the same people who complain about the verification price, cause they cannot find a host within the maximum of 10 requests per week...
Excellent video Mary Jane, like always! Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us. You helped me so much about how to write the perfect request. Thanks to you I got two hosts in one day, though I am a total beginner on the site. Thank you very much again! Have a safe trip :)
You mean the wrong way?? 🙈🙈🙈 That's so embarrassing, I didn't even question that the word is "caTHegory". Good to know for the future, at least. Thanks man, I watched your last vlog, keep it up!
Thanks for this great video Hi Mary I'm Abderrahim from the desert of Algeria, south of Algeria, in the city of Adrar from northe africa I am in couchsurfing to get new people and new friends from other cultures and to exchange experiences and develop tourism in my country, Algeria. I would be happy to know you and always welcome you to the desert of Algeria welcome in algeria
If you are in a rush or running out of free requests, send request to someone who has lots of recent references from surfers. That means that he/she is actively hosting and is more likely to take also a new guest. This I tell as an active host in Helsinki. I don't, however, mind that much if my guests don't have references yet. Somewhere one has to start. If you don't have references, look for hosts whose surfers often mention in references that he/she was their first host. That often means that the host takes guests without references. One good way to start couchsurfing is to go to some less-visited place where hosts are just waiting that someone would finally come to their town and not start one's luck first in some big tourism hot spot where hosts are overwhelmed by requests. That way you can get your first references and perhaps have more chances in some more popular places.
Absolutely! There are Couchsurfing members of all ages, even people in their late 70. If you're "over 50", what's the problem? In my last 2 weeks trip in Northern Europe I've had an over 50 host for 5 nights (who I struggled with to keep up with the parties to be honest) and another one who was almost 50 for other 4 nights.
Hi, thanks for your information. I have a question, can be guest or host same person next time? If yes, how? Bcz when I want offer them to stay, in the bottom I see "view existing discussion" instead of "offer to stay or host" Can you help me with this problem 🙄
I’m a 60yr old man I have 400 references I ride a bicycle on road trips I have people fighting to host me. LoL. One time I stayed with a guy in grand island NE. He told me he was going on a trip to Chicago and he sent out 50 requests and got no one to even talk to him.
I'm currently travelling full time so I don't really live anywhere in particular cause I move all the time. I visited Germany last month. Where do you live?
@@WhatashameMaryJane Good Question! Or maybe you should ask where I'd like to leave ahah. I am Italian from ancona. During my bachelor's I have been living in Cesena for 3 years. I have been living in Denmark for 5 months, in the meanwhile I explored Scandinavia a lot. Then I've been working for 3 months ans half in Prague and since March 2018 I have been living in Munich, Germany, where I study, though my dream is to move to Norway in one year, after my master's graduation. Pretty messy!
@@ferocemarcello Welcome to the confused millennials club! :) What makes you want to move to Norway, rather than other Scandinavian countries, if I may ask?
@@WhatashameMaryJane Well, in many social aspects, they are similar. I like Norway more for some reasons, though I'd be glad to move also to Denmark or Sweden. About geographical aspects, Norway presents much better views and incredible landscapes. Also though being pretty cold there, the wind in the eastern part is not that strong as in Denmark. I like nature and green areas, and Sports, and Norway gives many possibilities for nature and sport lovers. Also I like the relationship Norwegian have with sports and nature ( ex Hytta). I like also that differently than other Scandinavian countries, a vast portion of the market is controlled by the state(ex telenor or statoil). Also i feel Norway a safer place where to move in case of economic or natural disasters, being more isolated of the others. Still, there are many other aspects which I like of Norway, which are in common with Denmark and Sweden

I think you're missing the point of Couchsurfing. You can couch surf with whomever you want, but you need to have a profile on couchsurfing.com. I have a full playlist of videos that explain how to do couchsurfing

You should change your title of this Video "Free accommodation". Tips, sharing experience of yours ALL GOOD. But trust me I am CSer from July 2013 and I smell people who JUST WANT FREE ACCOMMODATION - ITS not FREE - its an exchange of values But if you go like hooo hooo its FREE, SAVE SOME MONEY - nobody likes that vibe or maybe some do that dont give a sh*t about life, you and/or people Got that guys? Appreciate it youre already a better CSer than 95% if you feel triggered by my writting ;)
Very sorry but don’t think that couch surfing is a good idea for a woman alone to do....taking a risk with your life is a very foolish thing to do to save money.....🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
1) You take a risk with your life every time you drive a car or you cross a street. 2) I made a very thorough video called "Is Couchsurfing safe?" that is a guide to minimize the risks of surfing couches, especially as a woman. 3) Couchsurfing is not only about saving money. It's a mindset, a lifestyle, a way of connecting with other people and other cultures.

I have one question. How to clarify a negatif references when the guest don't stay with us? Please answer me

You don't "have to", it's common sense to hang out with the person who offers you to stay at his place for free.
