    What a great guy!!
I have 4 siblings and they, as well as my parents, are all excited about the idea so we used to host a lot of through CS back in the days when we were all students and lived in one big house in Novosibirsk, Russia.
Once we hosted 2 German guys doing the Trans-siberian railway trip, and at the same time 2 other guys from Israel requested to stay and we agreed. Given our history, we thought it was both amazing and ironic - Germans, Jews and Russians sitting together at our dining table and sharing stories and laughing for hours on end. :)

greetings from Tijuana Mexico. that is wonderful Xenia. to host a traveller is to host an adventurer and as such is a citizen of the world! that dinner you mentioned must have been very special, that is the spirit of couchsurfing and an example of how people come together when we let it happen. May you live great adventures and beautiful sunsets. from Rafael Chon ( CS host ).

"Common sense. That's all I ask for." This is such a WISE answer. I guess it comes from a wisdom that's definitely from the great tradition od the Eastern World.

Agree on personalizing your requests. And I don't like hosting folks who only care about free accommodation -- don't use CouchSurfing in that case!
A portion of your message could be copy/pasted. It should include an intro to yourself, details about everyone you are requesting (if you request for a group, please include profile links for everyone involved), arrival info (it matters to me if you won't arrive until 2:00 AM no a work night! I can't host you then!).
But then always make sure to have a portion of your request that shows you read your host's profile.
Hope everyone who watched this video was inspired to start using CS, if you haven't already started. This coming from a guy who has hosted in NYC, maybe not quite as much as Yuka, but soon approaching 100 :)
It has been life changing, amazing, all positive experience.

Tip as a guest do something with your host. Especially requesting there maybe something in their profile that makes you go I wanted to do fill in the blank in their country. Now you picked up a friend who is passionate about it.

Great video, I'm using CouchSurfing for Glasgow for the first time, of course, there are doubts at first. But I'd say look at the number of references a person has, and how many people have written good things about them.

  • @IamBrendaMarie
    @IamBrendaMarie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Others did not leave a reference on the page although reminder to do so. We should be honest in writing our references because other people depends on those reference to be hosted or to host.

I agree that basic rules should be written in the profile or given to guest when they get there. There questions that may needed to be ask and the time may not be right to do so.

I am one of the original CSerfers from thr early days anf after Casey sold us out, CS has become a joke.
That being said, there are still genuine CS out there but one has to search through a lot of crappy ones to find them.
Another downside of CS today is that it is used for sex.
We the original CS who put money into the site when it crashed is tge reason why CS survived. Casey the founder sent us an email begging for funds but he sold us out.
In the day one only had to send 1 ir 2 messages to get a couch. Now one has to send at least 10 or more to get a couch. Personalizing 10 or more messages is tiresome.

Yuta, you got a great joint and I know Japan is pricey. After seeing you guys walk through your place and where the interview was held, I could help you with rebranding as well as a new value added concept to Couchsurfing, which will diversify your portfolio and clientele. Think of the primary business blueprint already in place, then add through acquisition (if your bylaws do not mention you as the RSO = Rooftop Sole Owner) of another concept that equates to utilizing that kick ass rooftop as an optional place to krash, as well as giving you the option of letting some section 8 guests stay during off season. A great lawyer can draw up supplemental rules to hand out, based on your discretion and gut feeling - to be proper, one
could call it the "7-Eleven Rule". For example, your discretionary 7-Eleven guests must be awake by 9AM and ready to leave the premises - 7 days a week, 9AM daily departure, "said rooftop guest" will leave the single set of keys at admissions and the front doors will be deadbolted until 5:30PM. Said guest(s) will have full entrance once again, no earlier than, 5:30PM. I can see you are a nice guy that is very smart and there is a helluva lot of trash out there, but a consistent cash flow is a necessity. Remember stanky man who arrived at your place rankin like vinegar and rotten spinach brewing in a crack house during an Arizona summer with zero ventilation? You were very kind and "suggested" a shower🚿🧼🧽 , most likely in a mannerly tone. He was either too dense or not listening to you. The conversation you enjoy having with your clients is admirable, but can't imagine ignoring someone who I met for the first time asking me "if I want to shower"...really? Ok....think of that time when you and stanky man were on the rooftop and he did not take your shower suggestion. You could walk over to that firetruck gage hose that is used to water flowers on the rooftop, turn it on, walk over, and hose him down as if you were putting out a raging fire in a house. Ahhhhh, now breathe in and out for a few seconds....and those weights of stank will be lifted off your shoulders. Here is the deal, if I were to ever "Couchsurf" in your place, I would prefer to "Rooftopsurf", seriously and I am not Section 8. Just throw an inflatable mattress on the rooftop and I'll crash under the stars on the blowup bed with a few bottles of wine....which I will put in the trash the next morning. Look at it this way, if my concept were in place, there would be no need to talk to people like stank man. You could have told him all interior rooms are taken and only have Rooftopsurfing available. Due to our administrative difficulties, you could give him 13% discount. In the end, it is a win = win for everyone. 🙃🏃‍♂️🤸‍♂️. This is the Chicago way of doing business 🤐👍💪💨😉🕺🏼. Come One Come All...it's def an expierence here and we are a loud, fun, and vivacious people.
    😈 💦 WOOOF..........Manuel !!
