From what I understand, the A51 is a pretty good phone for a good price. Even better coming from an older phone. I have a J7 with pretty low benchmark scores compared to the A51, so I think it will be a vast improvement.
Galaxy A51 inhand feel is good and the performance is also good. I didn't find any issues in terms of performance. This exynos 9611 is also used in Galaxy A50s and Galaxy M30s. But the back is plastic in A51, that would easily get scratches while using it for a long time. So I ordered a black raptor skin from gadgetshieldz for protection and to improve grip
Ive used the phone for a little over a year now.. awesome phone! great for social media, okay pictures (not good at night) , pretty decent for games and great for viewing movies and shows on this thing. Overall definitely better than what you get for its price. Recommend.
It's a great phone, it works as good as my Samsung galaxy note 9, no lags, great cámara, good battery life, good speaker, excellent screen. It's a great buy.
Speaking from my experience using Samsung J1 mini. J series was the series where Samsung got tough competition from Chinese brand who brought better internal and more RAM for same price. After losing market share, Samsung rejuvenate the budget line up into A series. I won't be surprised if the processor is (possibly) the weak link. It looks like a heavy face-lift with similar philosophy from previous J series. I know not to expect much from A series. I admire your honesty.
Just got this phone today. I definitely appreciate your honesty. I'm not all that concerned about how it compares to other more expensive phones, I'm just glad I upgraded from my almost 4 year old LG V20. Definitely appreciate your review. hey mark, have been using a51 since its release but still has not experience any lagging or delays it has been smooth no issues. i think fingerprint is the only issue for me as It is really slow
6 month user and no complaints on performance, had a s8 before that and id chose the a51 in general. The fingerprint has issues which made hate the phone at first but when i noticed it was impecable (though not super speedy) with my left finger, i re registered my right thumbs fingerprint and now have no issue. Yes i recommend it. And personally i prefer the plastic cover its thermo isolator and lighter in weight
@ARHAM AADEL yes you can when you can play some trend games like PUBG and Call of duty and even the fortnite Or you can go for Xiaomi Mi9t or Note 8 Pro But bro if I wanna to be honest The Samsung A51 has good display, modern design, good front camera, good chipset for daily working, But Xiaomi mi9t's chipset is better than A51 I suggest you If you want to buy A51 go for 8 or 6 GB Ram It meet your needs If you want better display or better camera and better design go for A51 If you want Best performance for gaming and better build quality I recommend you Xiaomi Mi9t, Xiaomi note 8 pro Again it depends on you bro Good luck
I guess you phone has a problem. Mine vibrates pretty well, no annoying sound. Now the fingerprint reader, that I would have said true, but found I guy here in TH-cam who really showed me how to set it up, and not using the same fingerprint several times, and now it works 99% of the time for me. I have it for 4 months now, and it is very fast for even much more expensive phones. So, sorry to say, for me its been an excellent buy. The only thing I agree in, is that the video shooting is just OK. Pictures are very good. So, if you are thinking about buying one, I highly recommend it.

I have this phone for couple of months now and I have 6 GB ram version and I don't have much complains. 1. Low light photography isn't that good 2 charging speed is fast but not that fast as compared to same phones in its proce segment. 3. It's not that snappy as you'd expect but still quite reasonable if you look at the price. 4. Camera system is good 5. Screen is wonderful 6. Phone size is just perfect (not large not small) 7. Phone looks flagship I think it's a good value for money and I would suggest everyone to go for it unless you expect flagship performance
I got an A51 from work - it's a mess - I use as a personal phone a Mate 20 Pro Huawei launched in 2018. OK, isn't fair to compare an older flagship with a mid-range phone, but A51 is slower than a Samsung A5 from 2017, which I used for 3 years before A51. I hard reset it at 6-8 months, I avoid to install many apps, just critical work related apps, nothing personal like social media or navigation/music. I don't judge other people opinions, but for me is WAY TO SLOW this toy phone.
Hi! Do you recommend it to me? I've heard there are some lag issues or something? Have they fixed this? I don't mean gaming lag I mean daily use lag... does this make sense? Thanks :)
One of the best review I have come across for A51. I watched over 30 different reviews for A51 (some of them were by the top tech reviewers with over 15M subscribers) and guys believe me, THE BUCK STOPS HERE. It has never happened that I subscribed to someone's channel after watching just one video. Great job Mark!!
Just upgraded to this from my old s7. Honestly, had 0 issues. Feels like an improvement. Though I AM just a casual phone user. Videos and games work great, and I don't run too many things on in the background. Vibration is not too loud, depends on what it is sitting on. My brothers A20 is MUCH louder. I turned mine on a softer mode/pattern and in a rubberized edge clear case (because that back) you really don't hear it much. Great for what I got it for.
I had one for a few weeks and swapped it for a A71. The performance of the A51 is the minimum required to be considered acceptable meaning that any slight load and it starts to studder which is frustrating. The A71 is WAY better in performance since the SD730 in the A71 actually outscores phones with SD845 in Antutu scores and it definetely shows in everyday use. Downside of A71 is that the punch hole is bigger in diameter and speaker sounds tinnier than A51.
It seems like you got very unlucky here. Every other review on the A51 didn't have the lag problem that your phone did. My friend also got this phone a month after it released in the US and it's still working fine. I think you might have gotten a faulty or something happened, which really sucks.
Everything is good until he got to the performance... I had an S7 Edge and it hardly ran games on 20 to 40 fps and that's on low settings! While my A51 is a monster! It's running games at min 45 fps and most of the time 60 fps and around at the maximum settings! I am playing call of duty for example, Maximum settings Average fps is 55 and never seen it under 45 Pubg too run very smoothly on highest settings Unless I have power saving on which is understandable S7 edge don't even have a chance I don't why but every review for any non-flagship phone should have this line : Everything is good but the performance. Like why? Weaker than flagship doesn't mean weak And they always use benchmarks as a reference which doesn't represent you using it But I think they use this line Because it's easy like I said say that and show some benchmarks and boom you are speaking facts right now.
you should install samsung game tuner from apkpure (because they removed it from galaxy store) on your s7 and check if the performance is improved or not, and dont forget to set the settings to maximum i was facing the same issue with my galaxy s7 after installing the game tuner the overall performance is good now, give it a try.
how is the camera on the a51 compared to the s7 edge? because i've had ppl tell me the photo and video quality on their s7 edge is better than the quality on a51
Well, thank you so much. After watching this right now, just realized i am giving up on A series at last! Had a couple, currently i am using A 41, and i thought my phone had screen issues only to find out now that A51 has it too, and they all do, i am certain! (The A's) Great job, i like you and the way you talk and how you explain everything. 🤟👊
I have had a Galaxy A51 for a year now. Its still a beast. I have tweaked to my own settings and made it so cool. A good overall review of the phone though.
I've had my A51 for 4.5 months now and I haven't had ANY issues with its performance. The under-the-display fingerprint reader works 100% of the time for me and is fast _enough._ Not a bother. This is the best phone of its price point IMO aside from the Pixel "a" line
I have been using this phone for few weeks.so far i am very satisfied with the spec. May be because i dont have higher requirements. Only problem i feel is the finger print scanner should be improved. Over all good phone.value for money
as a causal phone user, I got this phone nearly 3 months ago and haven't experienced many issues aside from 2 things - snapchat photos/videos seem to lag and have performance issues in lower light alongside the sound quality when on full volume not being great. I use it pretty much everyday and if you're not massively worried about spending loads of money and are okay with the occasional 1/1.5 second loading time for some apps etc I'd recommend it
I just took my A51 camping and the battery did well into the next day. Once I removed bloatwarr or disabled, and I found in settings a slider to reduce animations. No lag or problems yet, great screen. Thumbprint always works for me, i put same thumb twice. Facial recognition works excellent but not in dark room of course. You can also have a pattern so three ways to unlock phone
The 6GB Ram varient I have right now is honestly amazing. Most of these US reviewers have the 4GB version which paired with not the most powerful Exynos processor is a bit underwhelming. If you get the A51 get the 6GB version.
I've had my A51 for a week now, and I really can't complain about the speed, probably because the one I got is an 8GB RAM model. The in-screen fingerprint scanner takes a little getting used to, but it's no slower than the external reader on my previous Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro. The lag I did notice was in pressing the power button to turn the display off, which was half a second slower compared to the Xiaomi. The one thing that does get my goat is the average battery life. My Note 6 Pro also has a 4000 mAh battery, but for some reason it seems like the A51 just drains more juice than it should. Maybe its the processor (this is the first time I've had a smartphone that had anything other than a Qualcomm chip inside). I've put most of my apps to deep sleep in terms of activity, and the phone's running on medium power save mode. For good measure, I also disabled the numerical battery indicator on the status bar, since seeing the power level dropping just keeps bothering me anyway. I keep thinking maybe I should have stretched a little more for an A71 instead, with the 4500 mAh battery and Snapdragon 730 processor. I really wanted the M31 (6000 mAh), but apart from the fact that it's only available online, the A51 just had cooler aftermarket accessories. Oh, well.
Great review, thanks. This was one of the phones I was tempted to buy. I am looking for a phone with headphone jack/dac, sd card slot and a good battery/charge. I have LG G7 at the moment and don't want to pay a crazy amount for their new phones with the specs I'm wanting. I saw this A51, A71, Oppo A72 & Realme 6 Pro - but I've heard those 2 Oppo & Realme phones don't have always on display (something I find very useful) - this I find odd as I hear it's cos they are not AMOLED screens, but checking GSMArena they have a IPS LCD screen, the same as my LG G7 ...which has AOD. AARRGGHHHH... Phone shopping is so damn hard!
Watching on an A51, and I come from an LG flagship. I wouldn't say the difference is that stark. I have never experienced lags as bad as shown in the video. And I do get some misreads on the FPR but accurate read rate is closer to 90%. I will say that in the first weeks I had 1 misreads out of every 2 tries, but once you get used to the positioning and timing of the reader and let muscle memory take care of it the whole process is a lot better.
I’ve watched a lot of reviews for this phone and I really like the way that you’ve done it. You showed a lot more of the problems you were having and you dumbed down the meaning of all the specs and I really appreciate that because you were right I (along with a lot of people) don’t know what all those numbers mean and you made it easy to understand THANK YOU
The only gripe I have with this is the processor. I've been using it for about a month and it tends to skip frames, but only a few times though. Some apps like TH-cam and Chrome even stop working for some reason. If only the processor was a little better, I would've been much happier.
The exynos chipset is the main downgrade. Because of this, there's lag and slow fingerprint scanner. If they put SD 730 soc, then I would bother buying A51.
Turning it off is hard on mine unless you use the Bixby and sign up for a Samsung account. Otherwise have press button and volume at same time. I do like the a51 its smooth.
is it actually that slow though? will i notice it? I've got a galaxy a5 from 2017 and a galaxy tablet smT230 from YEARS AGO and I find the tablet quite slow and the phone is just a little slow, like I don't really notice that at all, so will the a51 be slower than the a5 or faster because as long as its a little bit faster I'm fine
My samsung A 51 is barely one week old and is good. Its camera is good too but everytime I take camera pics they delete themselves from the gallery and sometimes they are deleting just on my face and there is nothing I can do! A51 is good bro. I am using it for more than 3 months now i feel now lag in the phone.. with the every update its better. But anyway thanks for the tips
no he doesn't, it is very reasonable to ask for a better chip. Samsung could do much better, also they have bren using the same chip for 3 generations, the A50, A50s and the A51 clearly they could have put a better chip to satisfy the higher price point.... infact I think he didn't go hard enough on the camera especially since there are other phones at the same price point with better night photography..

Your review is spot on, and for those reasons I've already decided mine is going back. To start, my phone was delivered out it's box with no packing material. My phone has been extremely unresponsive at times, fingerprint reader works about 3/4 of the time, sometimes less. The biggest issue though is the signal quality, where I always had full signal or just under, I get 1-2 bars. Often when I'm out and about I get no service. I've never had this with any other phone. I've attributed most of these issues to the poor packaging, but not all. In all fairness, the screen is beautiful, the camera is alrighty at this price, and the phone looks premium. I really wanted to like this phone. I've ordered a Amazon Renewed Galaxy S10 Plus for a couple hundred more than I paid for this phone and I think (hope) it will be worth it. Thanks for the honest review, wish I had saw this before ordering mine. Liked and subscribed.
I've had it for about 2 years now and ehhh, it's performance sucks, a lot. Even at the lowest possible settings of genshin, even lower than the lowest option, it still struggles a lot.

I prefer plastic over glass anyday

A51 works great. His review isn't accurate
You can have wireless charging with plastic backs just fine (e.g. Nexus 5), the omission here was more a cost saving measure.
How to work the fingerprint 99%?
You mentioned 4GB RAM. Now A51 is available in 8GB RAM and with NFC it's matching the top end phones in terms of performance and features.
just ordered one. To me, who can only afford Tracfones, trading up my LG Solo LTE to this will be a HUGE upgrade, mainly for the cameras I must admit.
Are you enjoying it? I've got one coming tomorrow.

I have this phone for couple of months now and I have 6 GB ram version and I don't have much complains.
1. Low light photography isn't that good
2 charging speed is fast but not that fast as compared to same phones in its proce segment.
3. It's not that snappy as you'd expect but still quite reasonable if you look at the price.
4. Camera system is good
5. Screen is wonderful
6. Phone size is just perfect (not large not small)
7. Phone looks flagship
I think it's a good value for money and I would suggest everyone to go for it unless you expect flagship performance
Watching on my A51
And I'm loving it
Hi! Do you recommend it to me? I've heard there are some lag issues or something? Have they fixed this? I don't mean gaming lag I mean daily use lag... does this make sense? Thanks :)

Lists the bad things: "Wow! compared to my s7 that's great!"
@@piratelvr35 I just got it aswell as my s7 edge died last week and the a51 is so much better
@@jackreeves7 Does it lag??
I had one for a few weeks and swapped it for a A71. The performance of the A51 is the minimum required to be considered acceptable meaning that any slight load and it starts to studder which is frustrating. The A71 is WAY better in performance since the SD730 in the A71 actually outscores phones with SD845 in Antutu scores and it definetely shows in everyday use.
Downside of A71 is that the punch hole is bigger in diameter and speaker sounds tinnier than A51.
Seriously considering upgrading from my old s7 to either a51/71, is there a big difference? Leaning more to the 71 by the minute.
I'd take the a71 over the a51.

This review reminds me of the age long question, a new midranger or an aging flagship?
Watch a51 vs s9
My S8 is still better in performance than the A51.
@@shaleendutta3950 battery life?
U must also consider the battery life, design and more important is the software updates which the s8 will not have any except for security updates.
New phones are more secure for longer, as Samsung only releases security patches for 3 years after release
Thank you for this very important detail, please do more vids like this
It seems like you got very unlucky here. Every other review on the A51 didn't have the lag problem that your phone did. My friend also got this phone a month after it released in the US and it's still working fine. I think you might have gotten a faulty or something happened, which really sucks.
Ya,Joshua.. I do agreed with ur opinion. I also use this phone about 2 month already. And everything still working properly.
Everything is good until he got to the performance...
I had an S7 Edge and it hardly ran games on 20 to 40 fps and that's on low settings!
While my A51 is a monster!
It's running games at min 45 fps and most of the time 60 fps and around
at the maximum settings!
I am playing call of duty for example,
Maximum settings
Average fps is 55 and never seen it under 45
Pubg too run very smoothly on highest settings
Unless I have power saving on which is understandable
S7 edge don't even have a chance
I don't why but every review for any non-flagship phone should have this line :
Everything is good but the performance.
Like why?
Weaker than flagship doesn't mean weak
And they always use benchmarks as a reference which doesn't represent you using it
But I think they use this line
Because it's easy like I said say that and show some benchmarks and boom you are speaking facts right now.
you should install samsung game tuner from apkpure (because they removed it from galaxy store) on your s7 and check if the performance is improved or not, and dont forget to set the settings to maximum i was facing the same issue with my galaxy s7 after installing the game tuner the overall performance is good now, give it a try.
how is the camera on the a51 compared to the s7 edge? because i've had ppl tell me the photo and video quality on their s7 edge is better than the quality on a51
Got a question? Is the lagging when switching apps in stuff too bad? Or have they fixed it? Do you recommend me buying an a51? Thanks :)

I've had my A51 for 4.5 months now and I haven't had ANY issues with its performance. The under-the-display fingerprint reader works 100% of the time for me and is fast _enough._ Not a bother. This is the best phone of its price point IMO aside from the Pixel "a" line
4gb ram or 6 gb ram?
set the 3 animation scale settings to 1.5x to avoid any hiccups and delays, i got the 8gb ram variant with 128gb storage and it feels so smooth.
Wouldnt that make it slowrr

Nice Review. Love you from ASIA😌
Your review is over hyped. It works great, isn't slow.
man, your video qualities!! you should have 10.8M instead of 108k, and I bet, that day is not very far. keep going. best of luck, fully blown away
Wow, thanks!
The 6GB Ram varient I have right now is honestly amazing. Most of these US reviewers have the 4GB version which paired with not the most powerful Exynos processor is a bit underwhelming. If you get the A51 get the 6GB version.
You have the 4GB variant available? Here in India we have the 6GB variant as the base and a 8GB variant as the top one.
@@adityarathi8803 yeah in the uk and us i think
