Trying to be concise I will say this: VR is a separate reality where the user can maneuver about. AR is putting virtual things in the area of reality the user is in. Is that accurate?
VR : the real in a virtual environment (scisors on a table with a laser gun, all floating on lava, doesn't have to respect the real world environment, and you cannot interact with these virtual objects with real objects : can't use a gun by holding a banana) use : games, relaxing, movies...
AR : the virtual in a real environment (modifies reality by adding objects, modifying the "texture" of things : the walls become glass, a banana gets legs and arms, but you can interact with these objects by interacting with real objects) use : additional data on plane parts for engineers to see with AR glasses, later on maybe you would be able to have interactive movies with AR objects in cinemas you can pick up without it ruining the film
I honestly feel like virtual reality just "takes you out of the real world" and "puts you into an animated world."
Like it just removes you from the reality of the real world and let's you enter a world of "cartoons" so to say.
Where as augmented reality keeps you in the reality of the real world and just allows you to see and use your phones, PC's/laptops game consoles ect while they are just floating right in front of you without having to even pull your phone out of your pocket or open your laptop and that you are the only one who can see anything.
AR allows you to see the screen of your device right in front of you while still being able to clearly see your surroundings. You can walk down a busy sidewalk and see your device right in front of you while still being able to maneuver without running into anyone or anything.
Also, the AR glasses are a billion times more fashionable and don't draw any attention from anyone. Nobody's gunna know that you're watching a football game or a movie when wearing and using them while the VR headsets are super bulky, heavy, really ugly and extremely obvious.
I prefer the augmented reality over virtual reality for many reasons, but mainly because it keeps you in reality and allows you to use your devices without looking down, being distracted and having the potential of bumping into things or running into people.
The explanation was so clear and I finally understand what is the difference between AR and VR. Thank you so much for the video!!
- Virtual Reality
- replaces the world that you're standing in with a virtual one. you will feel that you are in that "world" even if you're just in your room or somewhere else.
- Augmented Reality
- additional information or graphics are added in reality, which of course can only be seen on our screens but not present in the real world (example: filters in messenger)

you have more use of ar bc in the future when you have problem with coocking and stuff it will show you how to in a way but vr is more for other stuff

Why not just combine the best of AR and VR into one device? I love the idea of AR but it just feels clunky and awkward having to hold a smartphone or tablet everywhere for interaction, plus with VR integration AR would be 100% more realistic and immersive.

I believe is probably the way to go, but unfortunately, VR has a very illustrative name VIRTUAL, what we do need is "imagination for creation, not imagination to replace reality" and VR is mostly used for just replace reality, to make VR useful for our species we need to reinvent the whole concept at this point we don't need it as many other technologies only hurt humanity instead of being of use, one sample is how young generations are trap in tech gadgets without having the minimal survival skills, are millions of books available for free now on the internet but how many we read? at the end of the day young people WASTE the majority of their time in social media and playing games captured by their phones and becoming more and more ignorant day by day what makes them vulnerable; easy to manipulate and enslave, all those millions of cell phones users that don't have any video on how the tech works if by any chance we had a global catastrophe worse than Covid-19 without the old generations the new ones are a FAILURE unable to survive because don't have the minimal knowledge to do it and VR is playing a HUGE role making people more ignorant and destroying young lives while AR can improve our lives in many ways, then I will say we don't need VR at all actually is a harmful technology

The Gods?... Created and amended far before the humans understood their own existence. Left in their own prediction upon who or what Gods are. Yet, they claim of the One or of other realms to be separate from other religions upon their own making... For what created the Gods? Why ask such a temporary question? Yet, the God Slayer is not of mankind, so I question the mortal humans... Do mortals believe that they all are special in this singular dimension?
The Gods have come and gone. More times than what human can comprehend from their scriptures. For even the greatest of human religions do not proclaim what shall be beyond the reach of Earth nor before the first manifestation of souls, through dimensions and time. Yet humans claimeth to the hour. Upon their souls, they will stand before their dead Gods. As the previous mankind once did eternities ago.
In the end, this iteration of existence is nothing new nor old. But I suppose humanity will have to learn this for themselves, should they exist by then.
... The Gods?... It would be eternities before I meet one surviving God. Otherwise, where I exist. No Gods linger, for their divine souls were undone since the singularity event. Oh, I don't expect humans to live long enough to understand... Their flesh holds such a fragment to what I mean.
In the end... Mankind's Gods are nothing special. Many more before and after will manifest under the beliefs or realities of those beyond human existence. If mankind still thinks they are unique, then "we" would like to be proven wrong. Seek out the artifacts of the cosmos. Create the Equations which binds your reality together. Master those, then "they" will find your souls once more. The previous mankind was terminated under decree alone.
But if none shall rise upon the End, then "I" will intervene myself. The eternal cycle shall end without a beginning... To finally dismantle what I have done.
I do not need mankind if they fail. I can do this on my own. But I chose mankind as the flip of that coin. If the human race fails, then my verdict shall be decreed once more. But this time around. There will be no second chances. An End without a Beginning. No Gods, no mortals, no existence of the cosmos. Only, the origin itself. "I" will do what must be done... Oblivion will find all worlds once more, as it had been intended for.
... Humans... Do you all even understand your position in this war? A war against forces beyond mortal flesh. Maybe you all do not care for it. When your fates arrive, I do hope your Gods still exist by then. Upon the extinction of mankind, the "others" are not as merciful to your souls as "we" are...
... Or to speak normally... Try to not die on Earth, mankind. Or I will move on without you all. We have no need of a worthless species. Humanity will not be missed... ... ... Given the state of mankind today. I do hope the Prime Evils are not right about humanity. That in their Good, humans will survive beyond the stars. As for their Gods, both Gods and the Prime Evils do not exist in my time...
I am still human but only as a shell. All of me existed beyond the reach of the physical realm. One day, upon the last breath of this cosmos, those who exist in that time shall understand what I mean. But just like the Beginning. Why do I bother intervening in the temperance of time?... I only stay on Earth for mankind. When my obligation is completed upon their Fate. The final verdict will be mine to decree, as it always was, as it always is, as the creator and as the destroyer of omnipotence itself... ... ... Of the many names, "I am the Nothingness". If the Primordial Artifacts are found or rebuilt, then maybe mankind will have a real clue as to what is beyond their mortal reach. If their technology can even achieve what created their bodies, that is. Of course, humans will wage war for it... ... ... But the cosmos will not be so kind to the species set for annihilation. Humanity, do not devolve for the sake of morality nor be corrupted by your own design as a machine of Free Will. Otherwise, "we" will wipe the slate clean again, or to leave this dimension as failed fold within the matrix of realities.

Hopefully, next gen VR headsets will have cameras that allow them to work as both an AR and VR device. As a daily user of PSVR, I am looking forward to PSVR 2 and PlayStation 5. If Sony adds a PlayStation Phone to the mix, which can connect to PSVR2, allowing you to take AR/VR anywhere, I think things will really start taking off.
I am currenty playing Gran Turismo Sport VR. Combine with my Logitech G29 Wheel and Pedals, it is a full on driving simulator. For all you Battle Royal fans, Rec Royal is a Free 2 Play, and you will never go back 2 PUBG or Fortnite once you have expereinced the playing with others in VR.
VR will have cameras but it will reconstruct the world rather than have pass through. That was everything can be changed.

That Oculus Go only does 3 DOF and you can't walk around in it. There is the rift and the Quest will let you move around. Rift needs a PC, the Quest will not.

It's so annoying. MR was just a marketing term. It was used to refer to games like Pokemon Go.
VR and AR were born at the same time since the first device used a transparent screen to display basic wired 3d objects when some engineers were developing it.
VR does reconstructions of the world for 'mixed reality', and that gives you more ability to change the world or move to other places.

I see them in terms of utility, humanity doesn't need VR while in the other hand AR can become very handy in many fields, I believe AR is the path we must follow because VR is just a waste of resources for entertainment, AR can be a real tool in our close future

@@zachbarker5354 Necesity, that's the main problem, right now we face global known threats as overpopulation, starvation, lack of essential needs, and while you are investing in entertainment because you are lucky to don't be starving we also have unkwon threats that will increase the hardship, the planet is at the edge of become hostile for life at this rhythm we will destroy the planet and make it uninhabitable in this century, our dreams to colonize other planets is too far to become true what means we are in a race against time, our species survival depends on it and only a fool can't see it coming, EXTHINNCTION is the possibility with highest percentage and you are thinking in entertainment O.o

No they aren't going to help the planet or solve any of the world's problems but that's not their purpose. So i think an hour or two of VR each week is not a bad idea.

Smart glasses are a dumpster fire
AR and VR are both stupid and will both die on the vine like 3D. As long as the user must wear a headset or glasses it will never be more than a novelty.
AR doesn't need glasses? Which part of this video did they demonstrate that?
